'THE DUKE' 1ST PHOTO WITH
JIM BROADBENT & HELEN MIRREN
Pathe has released the first photo of Jim Broadbent and Helen Mirren from THE DUKE the true story of 60 year old taxi driver Kempton Bunton who stole a Goya painting from the National Gallery in London in the 60s.
He sent a ransom note saying he would only return the picture on
condition that the UK government agreed to provide free TV for the elderly. What happened next became the stuff of legend. An uplifting true story about a good man who set out to change the world and managed to save his marriage. The incident was the first, and still only, theft in the National Gallery’s history.
Roger Michell is directing the movie that doesn't have a release date yet |

What's The Story?
A loner and cook (John Magaro) has traveled west and joined a group of fur trappers in Oregon Territory, though he only finds connection with a Chinese immigrant (Orion Lee). The men collaborate on a business, although its longevity is reliant upon the participation of a wealthy landowner's prized milking cow.

"First Cow" looks interesting! A new take on "the wild west." And that Goya theft story is very famous -- we'll definitely go see that movie! Two great actors in it too.
ReplyDeleteShould be really fun, Broadbent is one of history's best actors ever. Mirren not so much.
DeleteI'll pass on the cow but The Duke, yes! Though, I will have me a little farm with highland cows some day.
ReplyDeleteBut they will just eat the grass and frolic happily you won't milk them!
DeleteI will have me a highland cow some day. I'm trying to convince Jason that we must do Scotland this summer just so I can play with the cows. But, I also kind of want to do Galapagos. Allison is dying to do Japan next year, so we may just stay in the US and do a cheap trip so we can save for that since that one will cost us out the nose when we do go.
DeleteFrom Galapagos you could also visit a country with alpacas which are, arguably, even cuter than highland cows!
DeleteYou had me rolling with the terrible music and "I don't even know what to think about a movie about a man and his cow". Watch this be the movie of the year that wins all types of prestigious awards!
ReplyDeleteThe cow would certainly be a better deserving best actress than most of the Hollywood tarts :)
