BBC'S 'THE ABC MURDERS'
ANDREW BUCHAN, RUPERT GRINT, JOHN MALKOVICH IN NEW AGATHA CHRISTIE TV SERIES
BBC One and Amazon have announced the cast for their new Agatha Christie three part drama THE ABC MURDERS, the fourth one in the
slate. Produced by Poldark and Victoria's Mammoth Screen it will have a cast led by Andrew Buchan, Rupert Grint and John Malkovich who will play Hercule Poirot (the strangest and, if I may say, the most off-putting of choices)! Rupert Grint will be Inspector Crome, Andrew Buchan is Franklin Clarke, with Eamon Farren, Tara Fitzgerald, Bronwyn James and Freya Mavor also in the cast!
Andrew Buchan will star as one of the male leads |
THE ABC MURDERS is set in the 1930s; a time when the nation is
dangerously divided and suspicion and hatred are on the rise. In the
midst of this Poirot faces a serial killer known only as A.B.C. First
the killer strikes in Andover, then Bexhill. As the murder count rises,
the only clue is the copy of
The ABC Railway Guide at each crime
scene. Poirot’s investigations are thwarted at every turn by an enemy
determined to outsmart him. If Poirot is to match his nemesis then
everything about him will be called into question; his authority, his
integrity, his past, his identity.
White Princess' Freya Mavor and Rupert Grint will also star! |
IDRIS ELBA IS THE NEW
HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME
Idris Elba is the new Quasimodo! |
The Agatha Christie series sounds good...except for John Malkovich but perhaps he will surprise us?
ReplyDeleteI just don't see him as Poirot, ruined the excitement for me :( I haven't yet seen their Ordeal By Innocence, which was the previous adaptation. I hated the second one Witness for the Prosecution, but loved the first one And Then There Was None
DeleteJohn Malkovich may very well bring something new, fresh and original to the role of Poirot. I'm looking forward to seeing his effort.
ReplyDeleteYes, something neurotic and psychotic as all of his roles are :PPP I want Derek Jacobi as Poirot!
DeleteNobody can ever compete with David Suchet as Poirot. However, Malkovich, being a great actor, might bring some unique approach to this role. Who knows?
ReplyDeleteFully agreed, Suchet and also my dear Peter Ustinov were the essence of Poirot. Kenneth Branagh was also good in the recent movie, but I just don't see the elegance and refined Britishness in Malkovich... his approach is too neurotic and egotistic.
DeleteThese both sound like they are worthy of a watch. It will be interesting to see Idris bringing the tunes to Hunchback.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if he will have a really big hump :)
DeleteThat's not a picture of Freya Mavor, it's Daria Sidorchuk.
ReplyDeletethey look literally like twins!
