BBC One and Amazon have announced the cast for their new Agatha Christie three part drama THE ABC MURDERS, the fourth one in the

slate. Produced by Poldark and Victoria's Mammoth Screen it will have a cast led by Andrew Buchan, Rupert Grint and John Malkovich who will play Hercule Poirot (the strangest and, if I may say, the most off-putting of choices)! Rupert Grint will be Inspector Crome, Andrew Buchan is Franklin Clarke, with Eamon Farren, Tara Fitzgerald, Bronwyn James and Freya Mavor also in the cast!

 THE ABC MURDERS is set in the 1930s; a time when the nation is dangerously divided and suspicion and hatred are on the rise. In the midst of this Poirot faces a serial killer known only as A.B.C. First the killer strikes in Andover, then Bexhill. As the murder count rises, the only clue is the copy of

Idris Elba is the new Quasimodo!

Rival Netflix is meanwhile moving over to Notre Dame with no one else but Idris Elba. In the third or possibly fourth of the current projects on that topic, he will play the famous Hunchback! As 'Hollywood Reporter' reports Netflix' THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME adaptation of Victor Hugo's famous story will be a musical experience! Beside playing the famous guard of the church called Quasimodo who is secretly in love with a gorgeous gipsy girl Esmeralda, Idris Elba will also produce the movie and write original songs for it! It is not so strange as he really did play as a DJ in a number of music festivals around Europe. The Current War director Michael Mitnick is set to helm the new adaptation of the French classic.

It could be ITV's new period set saga

Massive news coming from ITV today! They will join Mammoth Screen, who is doing Victoria, Poldark and Vanity Fair, in adapting classic novel TOM JONES into a new period set series! The raunchy 1749 novel from Henry Fielding follows often very scandalous and bawdy sexual exploits and merry adventures of the young and good hearted 18th century foundling Tom Jones in a story full of twists and surprises. As 'Radio Times' reports, the project hasn't been officially greenlit yet, but it is expected to start shooting next year. Screenwriter Gwyneth Hughes who is penning the project thinks the story is ideal for current atmosphere as Tom never sleeps with women who don't want him and is always a perfect gentleman! According to rumours, the studio is negotiating with a big star to take the lead role!

Tom Hollander is also producing the potential series

now they're hired Dr Thorne and Taboo's  Tom Hollander in the titular role! He is also producing the adaptation of Victor Hugo's classic with War and Peace Andrew Davies penning the script. In the series set in 1482 and following the love between hunchback Quasimodo, the Cathedral’s half blind and deaf bell-ringer, and a beautiful woman called Esmerelda, Hollander would play the Hunchback himself. They are currently seeking for foreign production partners.

   'MERMAID & MRS HANCOCK'

Another epic series we can expect is the adaptation of Imogen Hermes Gowar's THE MERMAID AND MRS HANCOCK. Playground Entertainment (Wolf Hall, White Queen) has bought the rights on the 1785 London set novel which follows Jonah Hancock, a prosperous merchant and widower, whose Captain returns having sold Hancock’s ship and cargo in exchange for an extraordinary creature; a mermaid. This mermaid becomes the subject of great curiosity and forges an encounter between Hancock and the desirable courtesan, Angelica Neal. The story describes their intertwined lives. This historical fantasy was sold earlier this year in a race between ten publishing houses for a six number sum.

Not much to report this Monday people! 'The Hollywood Reporter' writes that we will be getting a new big screen version of Victor Hugo's classic novel THE HUNCHBACK! Chuck Russell will direct with SEX AND THE CITY 2 star Max Ryan playing the Quasimodo, THE HUNCHBACK and the deformed bell ringer of Notre Dame who falls for gorgeous gipsy girl Esmeralda! Chuck Russell, who is famous for THE MASK and THE SCORPION KING will start shooting the movie next year in Serbia! Two years ago there were plans for Zhang Yimou to shoot QUASIMODO with Josh Brolin in the lead role.

GALACTIC ANIMATED ADVENTURE

A trailer has been released for new animated adventure which comes out next April! RATCHET & CLANK follows  a foolhardy "lombax" who has grown up alone on a backwater planet  and Clank, a pint-sized robot with more brains than brawn. When the two stumble upon a dangerous weapon capable of destroying entire planets, they must join forces with a team of colourful heroes called The Galactic Rangers in order to save the galaxy. Along the way they'll learn about heroism, friendship, and the importance of discovering one's own identity. The voice cast is lead by Bella Thorne, Paul Giamatti, Sylvester Stallone, John Goodman, Rosario Dawson who all lend their voices!
