hope you liked the new ones :)
DeleteWe had a great year for music. Calum Scott was one of my favorite new artists. I am looking forward to his full album release this year. Sam Smith hit it good with Good At Goodbyes. Like you, Jason can't stand most of his music, but he really enjoyed that tune. Hopefully this year will continue with some good hits.
ReplyDeleteCalum sadly does not have a major label behind him so his single went pretty much unnoticed. I think he needs more innovative producers, because old school fanky soul won't get him far these days, but there is something genuinely sweet and good in him that makes him appealing. Hope you enjoyed the list!
DeleteThey play Calum Scott on my Apple Music quite often, that's how I found him. I really love the 3 songs he has out right now. Dancing On My Own and You Are The Reason are really beautiful as well. I see that he is backed by Capitol Records for his Only Human album that is supposed to be out sometime in 2018, so hopefully it skyrocket him to success then.
DeleteDancing isn't his song, he sung that one on Britain's Got Talent and made it his own in a way :) I'm sure you watched that audition it was marvellous as he was very nervous since his sister was on stage before him and did not go through. Im' excited about Justin Timberlake's new album which is out next month and the first song is out Friday :) The bits I heard from it are marvellously epic like he mixed modern vibes with country music and American folklore, it is very rich and opulent in sound at least I hope that is how it sounds on album too :)
DeleteWe are also looking forward to Justin Timberlake's new album. I just hope my fitness trainer takes it easy on his tracks. She has a massive crush on him and plays the crap out of his songs when he releases new ones. He isn't known for keeping some of those songs short and if she has us doing squats or lunges to one of his tracks, it's never ending and I really start to hate him then :P
Deleteyes, most of his hits are seven minutes long :) I like full version of Mirrors much better than the shorter one. His Filthy song is out tomorrow, he will be releasing four songs, one each week, till February when the album is out along with his Superbowl performance
DeleteI do wish they would get someone new to do the Super Bowl. It's like Beyonce, Bruno Mars, and Justin Timberlake keep getting cracks at it damn near every year. I do like him, but there are many other deserving artists who could also shine up there.
DeleteWell, nobody's been popular among the big stars for ages... and they can't hire the teens.... maybe Pink but she ain't that popular among the general audience and I don't like her latest album :(
DeleteYes, Pink! I love her, but do agree, the latest album leaves a lot to be desired. You've got a few artists listed here that I think could pull off the half time show. Recycling the same old people year after year is getting quite boring, I don't even look forward to it anymore.
DeleteMaybe they could have called Shania since she came back last year, not that her new album is any good, but she could've played her old hits and I know her previous performance there is still remembered fondly.
DeleteI liked Rag'n'Bone man. Great video, too.
ReplyDeleteAlthough his song Human was probably a bigger hit (from 2016) I love this one much much better.
DeleteI am such an old stick in the mud, Dezzy, that I don't know ANY of these songs. Happy New Year to you! Wishing you all the best, my friend!
ReplyDeleteWell, MTV has died long time ago :)
DeletePS Debs, I thought you'd like Nicole Scherzinger up there on Number 2 because she calls sun and the sea a she :)
