The spy's verdict after seeing the series: watchable, but mostly uninspired with lack of any original spark and mostly weak performances from the young female cast. The unique and cheerful music is what saves it from being a fully mediocre affair.

I have yet to see an adaptation of "Little Women" that does justice to the original -- but perhaps this one will be the one!?
ReplyDeleteyou never know! I totally hated their recent adaptation of Howards End, but the book is pure snobbish garbage too in that case :)
DeleteJust a little taste in the trailer, but it does look like a lovely adaptation to help get through the chilly winter days.
ReplyDeleteyes, BBC has started shortening their trailers to mere 20 seconds, probably because of their new trend to cut all series to just three episodes.
DeleteHistoric drama with sisters - can only be good!
