Halo will launch March 24th this Spring

There is a number of big epic series arriving this year, and among them is Paramount + TV series adaptation of famous HALO video game which has just got a set of character posters after we got the new trailer and a launch date from March 24th a few weeks ago! Pablo Schreiber leads the cast as Master Chief, the Spartan in the middle of an epic 26th century conflict between humanity and an alien threat known as The Covenant, who happens to be humanity’s best weapon against the invading alien race, as he was enhanced an trained for one purpose: to win this war. At least that is what Natascha McElhone’s Dr. Halsey says in the trailer. The cast also includes Jen Taylor as Cortana, Bokeem Woodbine, Shabana Azmi, Natasha Culzac, Olive Gray, Yerin Ha, Bentley Kalu, Kate Kennedy, a rather unrecognisable Charlie Murphy, Danny Sapani, alongside Ryan McParland, Burn Gorman and Fiona O’Shaughnessy. Watch below the trailer which opens to the brilliant and haunting new sf version of In the Air Tonight by Phill Collins. The series was created by Steven Kane and Kyle Killen and shot over in Hungary. It was originally set over at Showtime before it moved to Paramount Plus streamer. Jonathan Liebesman who helmed Shanara Chronicles and Otto Bathurst who is also helming Billy the Kid series over at Epix are directing the episodes.

Speaking of sf genre, check out the first trailer and poster for post apocalyptic sf movie BLACK CRAB which lands at Netflix March 18th coming from Sweden and starring Scandinavian stars Noomi Rapace and Jakob Oftebro and directed by Adam Berg who also worked on the scenario for the movie.  Set in a post apocalyptic world, this Swedish action thriller follows six soldiers sent on a covert mission to transport a mysterious package across a frozen archipelago without knowing what dangers lie ahead or who - if anyone - they can trust.But for speed skater turned soldier Caroline Edh, the mission is about something else entirely as she needs to save her daughter as well.

Disney + will finally fulfill Ewan McGregor's wish to return to the role he played in Star Wars movies in this six episode series. We must mention that Hayden Christensen will also return as Darth Vader. Set ten years after the events of Star Wars Episode III, the story centers on Obi-Wan's time on Tatooine, watching over the young Luke Skywalker. Joel Edgerton will also return as Luke's uncle with Rupert Friend, Simone Kessell and Indira Varma also starring.

 

 

HALO TV ADAPTATION

Paramount + is bringing us a highly anticipated ten episode video game adaptation HALO This sprawling series will be set in the game universe, but will also explore new stories that follow the epic 26th-century conflict between humanity's United Nations Space Command and an alien threat known as the Covenant. The series stars Pablo Schreiber and Natascha McElhone, with Steven Spielberg producing through his Amblin TV.

 

 

ROGUE ONE'S ANDOR

Beside Obi Wan, Disney Plus  is also bringing us ANDOR, a prequel series to Star Wars: Rogue One. Centered around Diego Luna as freedom fighter Cassian Andor, this 12 episode series traces the origins of the Rebellion. Beside Lord of the Rings, Amazon is also preparing sf series THE PERIPHERAL based on a book by William Gibson. Starring Jack Reynor, JJ Feild and Chloe Moretz it has the story set in the future when technology has subtly altered society, and follows a woman who discovers a secret connection to an alternate reality as well as a dark future of her own. Since it comes from Westworld producers, you can expect it to be visually ambitious.

While the premiere of Henry Cavill's Witcher has been pushed for next year, another epic TV series based on a massively popular video game has just found its lead star! Pablo Schreiber will lead the cast in HALO adaptation at Showtime! He will topline the new fantasy series as Master Chief, Earth’s most advanced warrior in the 26th century and the only hope of salvation for a civilization pushed to the brink of destruction by the Covenant, an unstoppable alliance of alien worlds committed to the destruction of humanity. 

Newcomer Yerin Ha will also star in the new series

Meanwhile, newcomer Yerin Ha will play a new character which does not exist in the video game: Quan Ah, a shrewd, audacious 16 year old from the Outer Colonies who meets Master Chief at a fateful time for them both.

The production on the show based on the game sold in over 77 million copies around the world will begin this Autumn in Hungary. Pablo Schreiber has an Emmy nomination for his role in Orange is the new Black. He will also star in Chris Evans series Defending Jacob at Apple's new streaming service. Otto Bathurst, whose recent Robin Hood movie was visually stunning albeit a bit bad as a film itself, is directing and producing the series.
