Two trailers for you today for two totally different movies, first up a comedy THE STAND IN with  Drew Barrymore which will arrive into selected theatres and on VOD December 11th with her playing an actress and her own stand in. HILLBILLY ELEGY TRAILER
GLENN CLOSE & AMY ADAMS NEED TO GET THEIR OSCARS
Now this one is for a much more serious drama movie, starring two outstanding thespians Amy Adams and Glenn Close (who might as well

finally get her Oscar for this one after so many recent injustices towards her in recent years). Based on the best selling memoir by J.D. Vance, HILLBILLY ELEGY is a modern exploration of the American Dream and three generations of an Appalachian family as told by its youngest member, a Yale Law student forced to return to his hometown. The movie will stream on Netflix from November 24th directed by Ron Howard and also starring Freida Pinto, Haley Bennett and Bo Hopkins. Did you know that Glenn Close and Amy Adams have 13 Oscar nominations together and no win at all while the talentless likes of  certain Colemans, Berries and Paltrows have their Golden Boys?

  1. "Family is the only thing that means anything." I hate it when she said that in Hillbilly. It's such a guilt trip phrase to make those who are doing well for themselves to put their lives on hold or take care of those who make piss poor decisions. Like, why should I have to sit back and pick up the pieces of my family's broken life because they were too stupid to make good decisions just because I had the unfortunate luck to share some genes with these people? It's not fair.

With that said, the movie does look really good.

    1. Family will always try to drag you down, you and me know it, sadly, very well. Mine always tried to demean me to feel better themselves.

  2. That's what the lowest of humanity does. Makes others feel like crap just so they can feel good about themselves.

    1. The weirdest thing is that you cannot really attack them for it, because as a more intelligent person you get why they are doing it. So you just swallow, and swallow and swallow...

  3. I do love Glenn Close! I was watching a video recently of her and Meryl Streep together and the host asking which was the better actress. Glenn Close instantly got uncomfortable and refused to answer the question while Meryl Streep just acted shock and giggled. I like both of these, but Hillbilly Elegy is the winner for me. :)

    1. Meryl probably thinks she is the better one, which she is when we are talking about comedy talent and versatility, but Glenn is better in dramatic roles. Just like Judi Dench is more versatile than Maggie Smith and has a much wider range.

  4. My grandmother just fed me that line about family last night! I told her that I am sick of people walking all over me and insulting my family in my own home. I'm not a door mat. She told me "Don't think of it that way. Think of yourself as the better person." Sigh.. It seems to be a line that all families say.

  5. I literally yesterday decided to Google Amy Adams and see what she's doing because it's been quite a while since I saw her in something... Then I saw that her finished thriller movie's release was postponed because of Covid. I was expecting that one, guess I'll have to be more patient. 🤷‍♂️
