Here is an enchanting trailer for you, for a truly gorgeous film titled KRASAVITSA (Beauty in Russian) which is out next February set in Leningrad, winter 1941. After a severe concussion, Sergeant Major Nikolai Svetlov (Slava Kopeykin) is discharged from the hospital and assigned to the zoo, where workers perform a quiet act of heroism day after day, saving animals from starvation. A hippopotamus named Beauty holds a special place in the zoo. At first, the sergeant major perceives his service at the zoo as a misunderstanding and dreams of being at the front again, but the longer he stays there, the more clearly he realizes the importance of his mission. Through kindness and selfless love for animals, he and the remaining zoo keepers preserve the warmth of human souls and give hope for a miracle to all residents of besieged Leningrad. Ivan Dobronravov and Yulia Peresild also star.
Un film essenziale e ruvido, dove il rimorchio diventa metafora di sopravvivenza, dignità e legami umani messi alla prova dal margine del mondo. Buona giornata

ReplyDeleteAgreed
DeleteThis looks lovely! I agree with Angie, the kind of WW2 movie I'd watch over the massacre ones.
ReplyDeleteThis would be a massive worldwide cinema hit if it was from USA, but since it is from Russia...
