'EDMOND' TRAILER ON THE
FAMOUS AUTHOR OF LEGENDARY CYRANO DE BERGERAC
Two French projects for you, today, My Petit Spies, both on their famous writers. EDMOND is currently playing in French cinemas set
in Paris,
December 1897. Edmond Rostand (Thomas Soliveres) is not yet thirty but already two children and a lot of anxieties. He has not written anything for two years. In desperation, he offers the great Constant Coquelin a new play, a heroic comedy, in verse, for the holidays. Only concern: it is not written yet. Ignoring the whims of actresses, the demands of his Corsican producers, the jealousy of his wife, the stories of his best friend's heart and the lack of enthusiasm of all those around him, Edmond starts writing this piece which nobody believes in. For now, he has only the title: "Cyrano de Bergerac".

Love your French THursdays...Edmond looks superb!
ReplyDeleteI wish we had a real trailer for Victor Hugo, I couldn't find any on YouTube, what's up with that?
Delete'Edmond' doesn't seem to be an interesting, entertaining piece. It's the name Cyrano de Berjerac that attracts attention.
ReplyDeleteThere was actually a writer by that name Nowadays, maybe he would have sued Edmond...).
Edmond's drama character of Cyrano had a big nose which made him a person of low self esteem in his relationship with women. It makes one think of our times when a big nose is no problem at all. Nose surgery is one of the most popular and successful(not always) surgeries:)
I've always thought that is a surgery I'd never do... breathing through your mouth only for two to three weeks is unimaginable to me.
DeleteI love both "Cyrano" and "Les Miserables," so I would gladly watch both these bio-pics! I even read "Cyrano" in the original French, back in the day when I was studying French at university.
ReplyDeleteI must admit that I'm quite liking the Les Miserables mini series with Lily Collins and Dominic West that is currently airing on BBC, the acting is superb, Lily should get all possible awards for it.
DeleteYou know I love good French film. Both look magnifique!
ReplyDeletetres magnifique. The French have been visiting us in thousands for weeks now, they're our number one visitors this month. Probably thanks to our yearly music chart.
