I'm not exactly sure why they're trying to stuff him everywhere these days, he could certainly use a bit more charisma and acting chops, but, according to Hollywood Reporter, it seems Timothee Chalamet is in talks to star in the new adaptation of Frank Herbert's seminal science fiction saga DUNE. He is, apparently, supposed to play young Paul Atreides in Denis Villeneuve directed movie. Don't know about you, but this cast would make me lose interest in the project.
DUNE, set in the far future amidst a sprawling feudal interstellar
empire where planetary dynasties are controlled by noble houses that owe
an allegiance to the imperial House Corrino, tells the story of young
Paul Atreides (the son of Duke Leto Atreides and heir of House Atreides)
as he and his family accept control of the desert planet Arrakis, the
only source of the 'spice' melange, the most important and valuable
substance in the cosmos which gives its users heightened consciousness
and an extended lifespan.
NEW 'ROBIN HOOD' TRAILER
IS MORE LIKE ROBIN IN DA HOOD!
Lionsgate has released a new trailer for their November 21st adventure ROBIN HOOD and it looks even more offensively ridiculous than Guy
Taron Egerton is the new Robin Hood!
Richie's blasphemous King Arthur. In it, Robin of Loxley (Taron Egerton) a war hardened Crusader and his Moorish commander (Jamie Foxx) mount
Jamie Dornan is Will Scarlet whose fiancee has the hots for Robin
an audacious revolt against the corrupt English crown in a thrilling action adventure packed with gritty battlefield exploits, mind blowing fight
Ben Mendelsohn is evil Sheriff of Nottingham, Eve Hewson is Marian
choreography, and a timeless romance. The cast also includes Jamie Dornan as Will Scarlet and Ben Mendelsohn as the evil Sheriff of Nottingham. Eve Hewson is Maid Marian.
Although the desert planet sounds interesting, and the actor's soft features probably fit the main character of "Dune", still it's science fiction, and not 'my cup of tea'.
We saw the trailer an thought it looked interesting. It's always fun to see what people will do with a timeless story. Sometimes it works and other times it doesn't.
But the dangerous thing is that all of today's kids will think this is Robin Hood, they won't watch old films or read books like us, that is why history and legends should not be played with this way, imho.
or maybe he just has a good agent :) And he played characters which are 'in' these days, it is not really about talent as we've seen on recent Emmy nominations not to mention Oscars and Globes
If it's worse than King Arthur, I'm out. I couldn't even get through minutes of it, and you know I lurvs me some Charlie Hunnam, but even that wasn't enough to hold my attention. Jamie Foxx is not welcome on our screens when Jason is home. He simply cannot stand that guy so I probably would have missed it anyway.
I can't stand him either, especially after a very haughty self centred interview in a BBC prime time show when he bragged about discovering Ed Sheeran.

ReplyDeleteI did love the books ever so much as a kid, and I still do love a good space opera!
DeleteAn eternal story...promising!

DeleteHollywood has an interesting way of picking the new "it" man. Chalamet must have something they like.
