'POLDARK' SEASON 3
TO ARRIVE EARLY THIS JUNE
Just as we suspected last year, BBC had decided to avoid clash with rival Victoria this Autumn, and will air the third season of their mega popular period set series POLDARK from June! Airing in summer, and being shot earlier on a nicer weather, the new episodes should bring us brighter, more floral and green Cornwall as opposed to the gloom of the previous two runs. The season will be shown to American audience on PBS in October!
NEW FACES AND OLD
The previous season ended with Ross Poldark (Aidan Turner) saving his wife Demelza (Eleanor Tomlinson), the villagers and his rival George Warleggan (Jack Farthing) and his wife Elizabeth (Heida Reed) whom Ross impregnated, from a dangerous clash. Doctor Dwight Enys (Luke Norris) and lady Caroline (Gabriella Wilde) were also reunited! The third season will bring new additions to the cast: Christian Brassington (photo 6) will cause mayhem in Cornwall as the new vicar Withworth, Harry Richardson (photo 2 and 3) will be Demelza's free spirited rogue brother Drake, with Tom York (photo 2 and 3) as deeply religious Sam. Josh Whitehouse is set to play Hugh Armitage (photo 4) a rich new nobleman! Elsie Chappell will play Elizabeth's cousin Morwenna (photo 5). Set in 1794, the new season will see Ross traverse new family, new loves and new battles, as the French revolution casts a shadow over life in Cornwall!

'ANNE' OF GREEN GABLES
NETFLIX SERIES REMAKE TRAILER
Meanwhile, Netflix has released the first trailer for their remake of ANNE OF GREEN GABLES which will air its eight episodes from May 12th! Set in Prince Edward Island in the late 1890s, the series centres on Anne Shirley (Amybeth McNulty), a young orphaned girl who, after an abusive childhood spent in orphanages and the homes of strangers, is mistakenly sent to live with an ageing sister and brother. Over time, 13 year old Anne will transform the lives of Marilla (Geraldine James) and Matthew Cuthbert (R.H. Thomson) and eventually the entire small town in which they live with her unique spirit, fierce intellect and brilliant imagination. Anne’s adventures will reflect timeless and topical issues including themes of identity, feminism, bullying and prejudice.
I still haven't gotten around to watching Poldark. Anne seems interesting but really pushes feminism traits harder than the story or character.
ReplyDeleteyes, and that kid's acting in the trailer is seriously awful, overly dramatic.
DeleteOh how I love Poldark. One of the best drama's to come out of the UK in ages. Well, that's possibly an exaggeration somewhat, but hey. It's very good.
ReplyDeleteit is definitely in top ten, I'd put BANISHED,CRIMSON FIELDS and THE MILL and THE VILLAGE before Poldie, but it is better than Victoria for sure and most other crap BBC has been serving us lately
DeleteAnne of Green Gables was one of my favorite books growing up! I can't wait to see the series on Netflix!
ReplyDeletehope you can digest that little girl's horrible acting from the trailer :)
DeleteIf not, there's always the delete button ;)
Deletetrue that!
DeleteThe end of the 18th century, what a fantastic period...sounds great!
ReplyDeletenot so fantastic in your country at that age :)
DeleteInteresting about Anne. I'm listening to the book again right now. Not sure I like some of the changes to the storyline in the trailer but other parts looked great.
ReplyDeletehope you will like the series
DeleteI saw the preview for Anne last night and wondered how well they're going to portray the story. I read the book and while I liked aspects of it, I don't generally like those kinds of stories. (Ones intended to manipulate emotions--particularly ones attached to tears.)
ReplyDeleteyes, I'm not sure imma gonna watch it either! Seems a bit pathetic and lots of bad acting in it too
DeleteI've been an Anne fan since I was ten, so I'll have to see this. Just hope it's as wonderful as I want it to be.
ReplyDeletedon't raise your hopes too much :) just in case...
Deletelol Yeah. Just in case.
Deleteindeed
DeleteI'm not raising my hopes.
