We shall start the first part today with Starz' biggest project this summer - historical adventure series OUTLANDER which will start airing August 9th! Another new show that might interest female audience will be new ABC Family sitcom YOUNG & HUNGRY starring Emily Osment, Rex Lee, Jonathan Sadowski and Kym Whitley. Two worlds collide when Josh, a wealthy young tech entrepreneur, meets Gabi, a feisty young food blogger, looking to be his personal chef. When Josh enlists Gabi to prepare a romantic meal for him and his girlfriend, the dinner goes awry and Gabi finds herself in a very awkward position. With the help of her best friend Sofia and Josh's housekeeper, Gabi turns a difficult situation into an opportunity for employment and maybe even love. The hunger starts June 25th!

Also premièring at ABC Family, on June 10th, is another new drama CHASING LIFE which will star Italia Ricci, Richard Brancatisano and Haley Ramm. When not pursuing the latest scoop, April tries to balance her ambitious career with her family. Based on Anita Diamant bestselling novel the two episode series will follow Dinah (Rebecca Ferguson), the daughter of Leah and Jacob, who is only briefly referenced in the Old Testament. Her happy childhood was spent inside the red tent where only the women of her tribe are allowed to gather and share the traditions and turmoil of ancient womanhood. Told through Dinah’s eyes, the series recounts the story of her mothers Leah (Minnie Driver), Rachel (Morena Baccarin), Zilpah and Bilhah, the four wives of Jacob (Iain Glen), and his courtship of them. Dinah goes on to marry a

prince and fall out with her murderous brother Joseph (Will Tudor - remember him getting delightfully banged by Loras Tyrell in GOT?).  Debra Winger will portray Rebecca, Jacob’s mother.

IN 'A MONSTER CALLS'
A potentially heartwarming story: Liam Neeson has signed on to star in A MONSTER CALLS a big screen movie adaptation of Patrick Ness' children fantasy novel.  To be directed by Juan Antonio Bayona and also starring Felicity Jones, the movie, set for October 2016 release, will follow thirteen year old Conor O'Malley, who is dealing with his mother's sickness, school bullies and a yew tree in his backyard that turns into a monster that tells him strange stories. Over a period of time, the monster's stories give him the tools to come to terms with the truths of life. Liam Neeson will play the monster.
IAN MCKELLEN IS SHERLOCK IN 'A SLIGHT TRICK OF THE MIND'
Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes will get yet another movie: Sir Ian McKellen will play him in A SLIGHT TRICK OF THE MIND  in which Laura Liney will play his housekeeper! Based on Mitch Cullin's novel the movie will be directed by Bill Condon! Dealing with who Sherlock was and what happens when a man gets older, the film will be set in 1947 following Holmes who is living out his twilight years in a Sussex village with his housekeeper and her son. The detective finds himself haunted by an unsolved case from 50 years ago, remembering only a confrontation with a volatile husband and secret bond with his wife.

Together they set off on a journey to learn more about his mysterious affliction, as they uncover a number of curses and spells along the way.

DA VINCI'S DEMONS RENEWED FOR THIRD SEASON
Lots of TV updates today, people. First, Starz has renewed DA VINCI'S DEMONS for the third season but with the new showrunner - John Shiban (BREAKING BAD, X FILES).
JOHNATHON SCHAECH IN 'TEXAS RISING'
Over at History,  Johnathon Schaech is the latest name to join their historical miniseries TEXAS RISING which will detail the Texas Revolution against Mexico and the rise of the legendary Texas Rangers. Schaech will play Colonel Sherman, the blustering Kentucky aristocrat who thinks Sam Houston (Bill Paxton) is a disastrous commander and challenges his orders at every opportunity. FOX PICKS 'RED BAND SOCIETY' INTO SERIES
Meanwhile, Fox has ordered RED BAND SOCIETY into series. Starring Octavia Spencer and David Annable it is a coming-of-age drama with humour set at a big-city hospital. It explores with dark humor the daily life of a group of teenage kids living in a hospital who become unlikely friends.

We're all epic today, people, starting with amazing news coming from Spike TV where they have officially ordered KING TUT into series! I've announced some time ago that it will be six part mini series about legendary Egyptian king Tutankhamun who was the youngest ruler to lead the ancient country. To air next year, with expensive marketing campaign, it will chronicle Tut’s rise to power and his struggle to lead Egypt to glory, while his closest advisers, friends and lovers scheme for their own nefarious interests: young Tut is thrust into power after the murder of his father. The neophyte ruler is forced to marry his sister in order to maintain the dynasty. Although Tut rules as Pharaoh, he is controlled like a puppet by three formidable men who plot against him and vie for the throne themselves. Against all odds, Tut grows from an insecure and manipulated prince to a hero on the battlefield, leading his kingdom into war and victory. Just as he takes control of his nation and his destiny, he is betrayed. With HBO's PHARAOH and HIEROGLYPH at Fox, this will be the third upcoming Ancient Egypt project.

Here's a nice cast for you: Jane Fonda, Rachel Weisz, Harvey Keitel and Paul Dano have joined legendary Michael Caine in YOUTH movie which will follow Fred and Mick, two old friends approaching 80, who are on vacation together in an elegant hotel at the foot of the Alps. Fred, a composer and conductor, is retired, but film director Mick is still working. The friends contemplate their children’s lives, Mick’s enthusiastic young writers, and the other hotel guests as they face their future. While Mick scrambles to finish the screenplay for what he imagines will be his last important film, Fred has no intention of returning to music. But someone wants at all costs to hear his compositions and to see him conduct again. Who’s playing who is being kept close to the vest.

As the Allies make their final push in Europe, a battle-hardened army sergeant named Wardaddy (Brad Pitt) commands a Sherman tank and her five-man crew on a deadly mission behind enemy lines with the goal to strike at the heart of Nazi Germany. As you can see in the first picture Shia LaBeouf, Logan Lerman, John Bernthal are also in the cast alongside Scott Eastwood and Jason Isaacs!

'HALO' SF TV SERIES

TO AIR AT SHOWTIME!
And speaking of war, an intergalactic one will be seen in the small screen adaptation of insanely popular HALO video game. Instead of a big screen movie, it will be made into TV series for Showtime in colaboration with Steven Spielberg's Amblin TV and Xbox. The series centres on an interstellar war between humanity and a theocratic alliance of aliens known as the Covenant. The Covenant, led by their religious leaders, the Prophets, worship an ancient civilization known as the Forerunners, who perished in combat with the parasitic Flood. The title HALO comes from the Halo rings: large, habitable structures that were created by the Forerunners to destroy the Flood.

Earlier this week BBC has officially announced that, after almost two years after it had first been announced, they have finally rounded up the cast for their new historical TV series WOLF HALL which will start production later this year and will be ready for airing sometime in 2015! The small screen adaptation of Hilary Mantel's bestselling books WOLF HALL and BRING UP THE BODIES will depict, in a more realistic rather  than soapy way, the upheaval, bloodshed and political world of Tudor England! The six part series will see HOMELAND superstar Damian Lewis ruling the court as infamous King Henry VIII! THE 16TH CENTURY GODFATHER

The series will dominantly focus on Thomas Cromwell, the 16th-century Godfather-like figure at the heart of all the machinations at the court of Henry VIII. Mark Rylance will play king’s chief minister, brutal fixer and disposer of royal wives, the man who was at home in courtroom or waterfront, bishop’s palace or inn yard. He could draft a contract, train a falcon, draw a map, stop a street fight, furnish a house and fix a jury! He spoke French and Italian, and because of his humble origins as son of a blacksmith, his class consciousness made him an  astute observer and reader of men and women. Cromwell was instrumental in securing the annulment of Henry’s marriage to his first wife, Catherine of Aragon, his union with the scheming Anne Boleyn, her execution and Henry’s subsequent marriage to Jane Seymour. Cromwell also had more than a hand in the split with Rome, and he ruthlessly pursued those who ill-treated his early benefactor, Cardinal Wolsey.

In TV news, Freemantle Media has announced their work on ROB ROY historical adventure TV series about the famous Scottish folk hero and outlaw of the early 18th century. Also including elements of humour, it will be set in Scotland with mythical creatures describing the repressive reign of English King George. It will focus on Robert Roy MacGregor's life story, giving it a contemporary update. Rob Roy and his group will set out on a journey to find the true King of Scotland. The action scenes and fantastical creatures will also have a steampunk overlay! I also reported last year that another Scottish hero - WILLIAM WALLACE - will be getting his own series too! And this summer over at Starz you shall watch Scotland set historical series OUTLANDER!

The story of the movie will revolve around a soldier who becomes stranded in the desert after he fails to do his task in an assassination mission. There he must try to endure not only the dangerous desert elements, but the psychological toll it has taken on him. Before that, in January next year, you shall watch Armie next to Henry Cavill in THE MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E. where they play two secret agents from the 1960s!

Oh, my, now isn't this an exciting piece of epic news: according to 'Deadline' Patrick Tatopoulos, who directed UNDERWORLD RISE OF THE LYCANS and was production designer on 300 RISE OF AN EMPIRE, will helm another epic fantasy adventure - NEW BABYLON! With innovative virtual design and rich world building the story of the film will be set in a futuristic Middle East, where a war between angels and demons leads to the building of a Tower of Babel. In the Bible, the Tower of Babel was built after the Great Flood, as a building that reached all the way up to heaven.
SCOTT EASTWOOD IN 'THE LONGEST RIDE'
Deadline reports that Clint's son Scott Eastwood will lead the cast in Nicholas Sparks movie adaptation THE LONGEST RIDE which tracks a 91-year-old man trapped in a car crash who reflects on his life with his deceased wife as a young couple fall in love only a few miles away. Eastwood will play a young man, whose love affair with a college senior plays out as the youthful half of the romantic saga. You will also see Scott this winter in Brad Pitt's WWII epic FURY!

Three exciting pieces of TV news today: Starz has announced that Patrick Stewart will lead the cast in their new sitcom BLUNT TALK! The comedy show, already pre-ordered for two 20 episode seasons,  will centre on Walter Blunt (Stewart), a British import intent on conquering the world of American cable news. Via his nightly L.A.-based interview show, Blunt aims to share his wisdom and guidance as to how Americans should live, think and behave. Meanwhile, he has only his alcoholic manservant, who came over with him from the U.K., to help him contend with a dysfunctional news staff, numerous ex-wives and children of all ages!

British Channel 4 has announced work on colonial India set period series in ten episodes. INDIAN SUMMERS will be set in 1932, in the backdrop of the Himalayas and tea plantations of Northern India. X-box will develop a live action mini TV series based on WINTERWORLD comic!  The post apocalyptic series will follow surviving humans who form tribes that war and enslave in an apocalyptic future where Earth has frozen over.

In movie news, here's something for the younger ones: STEP UP franchise star Ryan Guzman has joined the cast of musical adventure movie JEM AND THE HOLOGRAMS!  Based on the popular 80s toyline and cartoon series it is the story of orphaned teenage girl Jerrica, who becomes an online recording sensation along with a couple of the other orphans, and they soon become known worldwide for their outrageous style. With the theme of being true to one's self in a multitasking, hyperlinked social media age, the movie will also have Aubrey Peeples as Jem/Jerrica, Stefanie Scott as Jem's sister, Kimber, Aurora Perrineau as Shana, and Hayley Kiyoko as Aja, while Ryan Guzman will play Rio, their road manager and Jem's love interest.
