BBC One has released first trailer for their new feature length drama ONWARD AND SIDEWAYS which stars Laura Linney and Rhys Ifans in a touching story about two people with lots in common - a great sense of humour, a love of dance, and Parkinson’s. Rhys plays Tony Evans, the deputy head of a local primary school. Laura stars as Emma Dretzin, a pianist, composer and single mother of two daughters. Neither knows the other until a startling encounter changes the course of their lives: on the same morning, they are both confronted with a diagnosis of Parkinson’s. This film is their story - a friendship which unfolds unexpectedly. A story of humour and emotion, of challenge and courage, of music and dance - transcending the assumptions of a little understood condition, and triumphing over the odds to find joy, release and love. Joining Laura and Rhys are Monica Dolan, Rory Kinnear and Paul Mayhew-Archer. Do not expect any likeable characters, that is what George R. R. Martin said about his new epic television series HOUSE OF THE DRAGON which will fly into HBO and HBO Max August  21st. Now I don't know why would anyone then even watch it, but I'm sure there are masochist among you. Below, you can watch the exciting trailer for the series aired at Comic Con this month! If this one proves successful, HBO has at least three other series based on his books in the works. The series will feature a new throne made out of almost 2,500 swords borrowed from Warcraft and Witcher adaptations.

WHAT IS THE STORY

Based on George R.R. Martin’s “Fire & Blood,” the series, which is set 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones, tells the story of House Targaryen. Paddy Considine leads the cast as King Viserys Targaryen Viserys, who was chosen by the lords of Westeros to succeed the Old King, Jaehaerys Targaryen, at the Great Council at Harrenhal. A warm, kind, and  decent man, Viserys only wishes to carry forward his grandfather’s legacy, but as we’ve learned from Game of Thrones, good men do not necessarily make for great kings.

 

WHO IS IN THE HOUSE? 

Matt Smith is Prince Daemon Targaryen, the younger brother to King Viserys and heir to the throne. A peerless warrior and a dragonrider, Daemon possesses the true blood of the dragon. But it is said that whenever a  Targaryen is born, the gods toss a coin in the air… Alicent Hightower (Olivia Cooke) is the daughter of Otto Hightower, the Hand of the King, and the most comely woman in the Seven Kingdoms. She was raised in the Red Keep, close to the king and his innermost circle; she possesses both a courtly grace and a keen political acumen. Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D’Arcy), who is the lead protagonist of the ten episode show, is the king’s first-born child. She is of pure Valyrian blood, and she is a  dragonrider. Many would say that Rhaenyra was born with everything… but she was not born a man. Lord Corlys Velaryon, “The Sea Snake” (Steve Toussaint) is the lord of House Velaryon, a Valyrian bloodline as old as House Targaryen. As “The Sea Snake,” the most famed nautical adventurer in the history of Westeros, Lord Corlys built his house into a powerful seat that is even richer than the Lannisters and that claims the largest navy in the world. Princess Rhaenys Velaryon (Eve Best) is a dragonrider and wife to Lord Corlys Velaryon, "The Queen Who Never Was" was passed over as heir to the throne at the Great Council because the realm favored her cousin, Viserys, simply for being male. Ser Criston Cole (Fabien Frankel), of Dornish descent, is the common-born son of the steward to the Lord of Blackhaven. He has no claim to land or titles; all he has to his name is his honor and his preternatural skill with a sword. Mysaria (Sonoya Mizuno) came to Westeros with nothing, sold more times than she can recall, and she could have wilted... but instead she rose to become the most trusted - and most unlikely - ally of Prince Daemon Targaryen, the heir to the throne. Otto Hightower (Rhys Ifans) is the Hand of the King, who loyally and faithfully serves both his king and his realm. As the Hand sees it, the greatest threat to the realm is the king's brother, Daemon, and his position as heir to the throne.

Believe it or not I showed you the first trailer for this one back in July of 2019, but it then had a very long road to the cinematic release: thanks to Covid outbreak and many other factors, THE KING'S MAN period set action spy movie is finally arriving to theatres around the globe almost four years after it was shot and made - the premiere has been scheduled for December 22nd ahead of the Christmas holidays. It will play in cinemas for 45 days before heading over to the digital platforms.

It's a Disney day today, people, since the studio has announced a number of great news today, starting with pop star Shakira who will lend her voice to Gazelle and she will also sing the main song TRY EVERYTHING written by Sia in ZOOTOPIA! Gazelle will be the biggest pop star next March in ZOOTOPIA, the modern mammal metropolis in which the main hero an optimistic police bunny  discovers that being the first bunny on a police force of big, tough animals isn’t so easy!

'GIGANTIC' JACK & MAGIC BEAN ANIMATED FILM
But probably the biggest is the announcement of GIGANTIC, Jack and the Magic Bean animated Disney movie directed by TANGLED's Nathan Greno with the story  set in Spain during the Age of Exploration, and following adventure seeker Jack as he discovers a world of giants hidden within the clouds. He hatches a grand plan with Inma, a 60-foot-tall girl, and agrees to help her stop a group of villains called Storm Giants! The movie is set for 2018 release after MOANA in 2016.The music is being written by FROZEN composers!

They have also revealed the first image from FINDING DORY sequel arriving next summer to reunite Dory with friends Nemo and Marlin on a search for answers about her past. What can she remember? Who are her parents? With voices from Ellen DeGeneres and Diane Keaton, new characters will include a cantankerous octopus, a misguided beluga whale and  a kind hearted whale shark!

Disney has also released first two posters for live action adventure sequel ALICE IN WONDERLAND: THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS which arrives into cinemas next May with the return of Johnny Depp as Mad Hatter and Mia Wasikowska as the title character Alice. Anne Hathaway will also return as White Queen and Helena Bonham Carter as Red Queen and Stephen Fry as Cheshire Cat! Joining Alice in her quest to save Mad Hatter, will be Rhys Ifans as Zanik Hightopp, the Mad Hatter's father and Ed Speleers as James Harcourt.

Disney has also revealed the first cast photo from STAR WARS: ROGUE ONE spin off which includes Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Forest Whitaker, Mads Mikkelsen,  Donnie Yen and Riz Ahmed. The movie with deal with the stolen plans of Death Star and is directed by Gareth Edwards for December 2016 release.
