Not much to report today, just some TV news, starting with Adam Brody being cast to lead Crackle's new TV series START UP with Martin
Freeman! Edi Gathegi and Otmara Marrero also star in the ten episode series that explores what happens when a brilliant, yet controversial tech idea gets incubated on the wrong side of the tracks by three strangers who don’t necessarily fit the mold of “tech entrepreneurs.” Set amongst the unconstrained, yet opportunist streets of Miami START UP features the high-stakes struggle of what one will do to reach ultimate success. Freeman will be an FBI agent and Brody a man who uses his father's ill gotten money for a tech start up with a goal to change the world.

KEVIN JAMES SITCOM
In sitcom news, CBS is rounding up the cast for their new untitled multi camera
comedy series with Kevin James. He will play a newly
retired police officer who looks forward to spending more quality time
with his wife and three kids — only to discover he faces much tougher
challenges at home than he ever did on the streets. MELISSA AND JOEY's
Taylor Spreitler will play Kendra, James’ once over achieving, people
pleasing, daddy’s girl whose been radicalised by college and now has her
own independence and point of view.

'THE BEST OF ENEMIES'
The absolute TV star of 2015, Taraji P. Henson (that body from the photo has an 18 year old son, by the way) is joining EMPIRE's creator Danny Strong in THE BEST OF ENEMIES which he is producing. As 'Deadline' reports Taraji will play Ann Atwater, the ferocious civil rights activist in Durham, North Carolina who had a decade long battle with sworn enemy C.P. Ellis, from Durham’s Ku Klux Klan. Their feud came to an abrupt and unlikely end in 1971. After a court ordered school desegregation decree threw the Southern city into turmoil, Atwater and Ellis reluctantly agreed to co-chair an intensive, two week community meeting to try to reach a compromise. The extraordinary events that followed changed Durham, and the lives of Atwater and Ellis forever.

Meanwhile, charismatic Jussie Smollett, who plays Taraji's ultra talented son in EMPIRE, will also guest star in two episodes of new epic series UNDERGROUND WGN America’s pre-Civil War series follows a group of slaves who plan a daring escape from a Georgia plantation to cross 600 miles to freedom. They are aided along the way by a secret abolitionist couple running a station on the UNDERGROUND Railroad, as they evade those tasked with bringing them back — dead or alive. Jussie Smollett will beJosey, a wild-eyed runaway who doesn’t trust anyone, not even those stationed along the way who would try to help him. The regular cast includes Christopher Meloni, Marc Blucas, Jessica De Gouw...

TO LEAD NEW SITCOM AT CBS
We're sticking to the world of TV comedy pilots today, people, since it is still a dry period in Hollywood: 'Deadline' reports that Adam Brody will lead untitled new sitcom at CBS coming from MODERN FAMILY producer Dan O'Shannon. The story will revolve around a group of friends and family at three different times in their lives. Adam Brody will play Andrew, a guy who sees the best in everything. Even at 40, when life’s twists and turns have taken a bit of wind out of his sails, it only takes the reappearance of his childhood crush, Holly, to awaken his love of life and belief in happy endings. Tyler Labine and Kelly O’Sullivan have already been cast!

WHOOPIE GOLDBERG IN NEW ABC SITCOM 'DELORES & JERMAINE'
After Ian McKellen, Derek Jacobi, Melanie Griffith, Jane Fonda and
Lily Tomlin, another of the acting legends to hit the world of sitcoms
is Whoopie Goldberg who will star in ABC's new comedy DELORES & JERMAINE. Jermaine Fowler stars as a millennial with big ideas, but
very little drive, who moves in with his estranged grandmother
(Goldberg), a strict, football loving, former D.C. cop who needs his
youthful enthusiasm in her life as much as he needs her old-school
parenting.
MARK ADDY JOINS 'SUPER CLYDE'
Another of CBS's sitcom pilots SUPER CLYDE has added Mark Addy to the cast! Charlie McDermott plays a meek, unassuming
fast-food worker who finds his calling. When Clyde gets a
really unexpected windfall, the inheritance from his long-dead eccentric
uncle, he decides that his money will be his secret super power, used
only for good. Addy will play his careful sidekick and his late uncle's
butler!
VANESSA LACHEY IS 'NOT SAFE FOR WORK'
Gorgeous Vanessa Lachey will take the female lead in NBC's sitcom pilot NOT SAFE FOR WORK an office comedy centring on best friends Dale (Michael Cassidy) and Georgie (Christine Woods) whose relationship is upended when he starts dating the “perfect” woman, Drea (Lachey), the perky local morning news anchor who is self conscious about maintaining her image.
