According to rumours, our dearest Kit Connor might star in the movie adaptation of ELDEN RING video game for director Alex Garland. As Deadline writes the action game is set in an authentic epic fantasy world, which allows players to head off on adventures within vast environments and dark dungeons. It has been sold so far in over 30 million copies. Kit and Alex already worked together on Warfare movie which played in theatres earlier this year.

Hulu has sent us the trailer for their new drama thriller series THE KOLLECTIVE which will arrive to the streamer June 10th starring our gorgeous Gregg Sulkin alongside Natascha McElhone. All six episodes will be available for streaming immediately revealing a deadly game of citizen journalism. 

 

THIS BRAND NEW TV SERIES FOLLOWS 

a group of intrepid young citizen journalists who, after a sudden tragedy, find themselves sucked into a globe-spanning web of government lies and corruption. Through a dangerous international investigation, the group exposes nefarious activities of rogue governments and discovers the human price of keeping truth alive. It is interesting that the series comes from The Netherlands, but it was shot in Hungarian capital Budapest. Check out the rather cheap looking trailer below and tell us what you think.

After being sold in more than ten million copies around the world, Richard Osman's book series THURSDAY MURDER CLUB is being adapted into a feature movie directed by Chris Columbus and now we have first teaser with Helen Mirren, Celia Imrie, Pierce Brosnan and Ben Kingsley who lead the cast as three of the  four septuagenarian friends who live in a retirement community and solve cold cases for fun. When a shadyproperty developer is found dead, the four find themselves in the middle of their first live crime. Variety reports that 14 studios fought for the movie rightson this one. David Tennant, Jonathan Pryce, Naomi Ackie, Daniel Mays and Henry Lloyd-Hughes also star in the movie which will hit Netflix August 28th.

Although it was a mediocre series, it garnered a rather nice viewing over at Netflix thanks to the ensemble cast, so THE PERFECT COUPLE is getting a second season, but they are turning it into an anthology 

New season will be based on Swan Song

series, which means it will be based on another of Elin Hildebrand's books SWAN SONG with a completely new couple and their family. It also  takes place in Nantucket, but instead the Winburys, it will focus on the mysterious Richardson family. In the book Chief of Police Ed Kapenash (renamed Dan Carter in “The Perfect Couple” and played by Michael Beach) is about to retire. Blond Sharon is going through a divorce. But when a 22-million-dollar summer home is purchased by the mysterious Richardsons, how did they make their money, exactly?, Ed, Sharon, and everyone in the community are swept up in high drama. The Richardsons throw lavish parties, flirt with multiple locals, flaunt their wealth with not one but two yachts, and raise impossible hopes of everyone they meet. When their house burns to the ground and their most essential employee goes missing, the entire island is up in arms.

About a year ago I told you that Netflix has ordered sixteen episodes of a new multicamera sitcom LEANNE from Chuck Lorre which will see comedienne Leanne Morgan lead the comedy and now we have the first images and a launch date on July 31st. She will play  a woman whose life takes an unexpected turn when her husband of 33 years leaves her for another woman. Starting over when you’re a grandmother and in menopause isn’t exactly what she had in mind, but with the help of her family she will navigate this new chapter with grace, dignity and jello salad. Kristen Johnston will play her completely opposite sister Carol who twice divorced with no kids, and if there’s a choice between going to church and going to a bar, she will always choose the latter. Despite their differences, Carol is fiercely loyal to her sister and is her ride or die. Celia Weston, Blake Clark, Ryan Stiles, Graham Rogers and Hannah Pilkes. Tim Daly, Jayma Mays, Annie Gonzalez and Blake Gibbons will recur. I hope we will get a trailer for the new comedy series soon so stay tuned as I will post it as soon as we get it.

After French La Maison over at Peacock, Spanish Telemundo is bringing us new fashion world set glamurous series. As of May 19th, VELVET: EL NUEVO IMPERIO is available on the Spanish streamer with our gorgeous Yon Gonzalez in the lead role. If I got it right the series will also be available on Peacock for US audience, but I am not sure. A seamstress and the heir to Galerías Velvet pursue a forbidden love, highlighting Latino generational challenges in America amid fashion and daily life. At the heart of the story is Alberto Márquez (Yon González), heir to the Velvet fashion empire, who returns home to save the family business but finds himself reigniting a romance with Ana Velázquez (Samantha Siqueiros), a brilliant young designer who dreams of redefining the industry on her own terms. Their romance sets off a chain of consequences, especially with the arrival of Cristina Otegui (Carolina Miranda), whose feelings for Alberto threaten to tear him and Ana apart.

THE SIX PART TV SERIES

We do not yet have the title, but as Deadline reports, Josh Hartnett is set to lead limited series set at Newfoundland over at Netflix. In the six episode series, created by Jesse McKeown, we shall see a mysterious sea creature terrorizing a remote Newfoundland town, and Hartnett will play a hard-bitten fisherman who must fight to protect his family, his community, and his vanishing way of life. The series will be filmed over in Canada.

BBC One has announced last year that they will produce THE OTHER BENNET SISTER period set series and now we have news that Ella Bruccoleri will take the lead role. Ten half hour episodes will follow one of Jane Austen’s most unassuming characters: Mary Bennet, the seemingly unremarkable and overlooked middle sister in Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice. The series takes as its premise that when it comes to the Bennet sisters, while women dream of being Lizzy, in reality most of them are more like Mary. The series follows Mary as she steps out of her sisters’ shadows in search of her own identity and purpose – finding herself in the middle of an epic love story along the way. Her journey will see her leave her family home in Meryton for the soirees of Regency London and the peaks and vales of the Lake District, all in search of independence, self-love and reinvention. It will also stream on BritBox.

THE HISTORY OF SOUND

There are a couple of gay themed movies at Cannes this year, among them is THE HISTORY OF SOUND  with gay icons Josh O'Connor and Paul Mescal as two young men during World War I who set out to record the lives, voices and music of their American countrymen. In this snatched, short-lived moment in their young lives, and while discovering the epic sweep of the U.S., both men are deeply changed. This historical romantic drama film, directed by Oliver Hermanus is based on the short story of the same name by Ben Shattuck. Some critics have called it moving and tasteful in the first reviews from Cannes.

 

PILLION WITH ALEXANDER SKARSGARD

Then there is something that contains, as far as I have heard tons of extreme graphic sex and Alexander Skarsgard has said their shooting was very intense. Fun and filthy romance with heart PILLION follows Colin (Harry Melling), a weedy wallflower letting life pass him by. That is until Ray (Skarsgård), the impossibly handsome leader of a motorbike club, takes him on as his submissive. Ray uproots Colin from his dreary suburban life, introducing him to a community of kinky, queer bikers and taking all sorts of virginities along the way. But as Colin steps deeper into Ray’s world of rules and mysteries, he begins to question whether the life of a 24/7 submissive is for him. 

PLAINCLOTHES WITH RUSSELL TOVEY

This one did not hit Cannes, but gay romantic drama PLAINCLOTHES is also arriving this year.  Russell Tovey and Tom Blyth have been set as leads in the indie movie from Carmen Emmi who directed this story which she also wrote. Set in the ’90s and inspired by true events, it follows a working-class undercover officer who is tasked with entrapping and apprehending gay men, only to find himself drawn to one of his targets.

  NEW EPIC TV SERIES CHIEF OF WAR

depicts the unification and colonization of Hawai’i from an indigenous point of view with Momoa playing warrior Ka’iana, as he tries to unify the islands before Western colonization in the late 18th century. Back then the four major kingdoms of Hawaii were constantly in a state of war. Legendary warrior Kaʻiana is pulled into battle when Seers and visions name him as the one who will fulfill an Ancient Prophecy that will bring peace to all of Hawaii.  WHO ELSE IS IN THE CAST?

Te Ao o Hinepehinga portrays Kupuohi, the wife of Ka’iana (Momoa). Kaina Makua is Kamehameha, the prophesied king who is destined to unite the warring kingdoms of the Hawaiian Islands. Moses Goods plays Moku, Chief Advisor to Kamehameha of Hawai’i and Ka’ahumanu’s (Luciane Buchanan) father. Siua Ikale’o portrays Nahi,’ Ka’iana’s  youngest brother. Brandon Finn plays Prince Kūpule, the son of King Kahekili (Temuera Morrison). James Udom is Tony, a runaway slave who befriends Ka’iana and finds a new home in Hawaii. Mainei Kinimaka portrays Heke, Kupuohi’s younger sister. Te Kohe Tuhaka plays Namake,’ one of Ka’iana’s younger brothers and an elite warrior.
