NEW BBC AGATHA CHRISTIE SERIES TRAILER

Although I thought they might air it at Christmas,  BBC has kept their latest TV series adaptation of an Agatha Christie work TOWARDS ZERO for this year and it will start airing March 2nd on BBC One, and to mark the announcement they released first trailer for the new series to entice you with our dearest Oliver Jackson Cohen in the lead role with Anjelica Huston and Matthew Rhys also in the cast. I think that Britbox will stream it for the viewers in Canada and United States sometime this year as well. 

 

 WHAT IS THE STORY ABOUT?

Featuring coastal views, heated summer soirees, and a trip to Wimbledon Centre Court, the series is set in England, 1936. After a scandalous celebrity divorce, Nevile Strange (Oliver Jackson Cohen) and his ex-wife Audrey (Ella Lilly Hyland) make the unthinkable decision to spend a summer together at Gull’s Point, their childhood home and the coastal estate of Nevile's aunt, Lady Tressilian (Anjelica Huston). With unfinished business between the former childhood sweethearts, plus the presence of Nevile’s new wife Kay (Mimi Keene), tensions are running high. Add to this a long-suffering lady’s companion, a mysterious gentleman’s valet, an exiled cousin with a grudge, a venerable family lawyer, an inquisitive orphan and a French con man, and soon there will be murder. As Deadline reports, our dearest Russell Tovey has joined the cast of Disney Plus new true story series SUSPECT: THE SHOOTING OF JEAN CHARLES DE MENEZES which describes the tragic shooting of an innocent man mistaken for a terrorist in London bombings twenty years ago. Edison Alcaide will play De Menezes whose death happened around two weeks after 7/7 following a second set of planned attacks, which failed but set off a manhunt. The Brazilian electrician was mistakenly shot by police at a London underground station, leading to protests, introspection over shoot-to-kill policies and fierce criticism of the Metropolitan Police. Russell Tovey will also star alongside Conleth Hill, Max Beesley, Emily Mortimer, Daniel Mays, Laura Aikman and Alex Jennings. Mortimer and Hill will play police chiefs.

GOODBYE JUNE already has quite a stellar cast and we will see Toni Collette, Helen Mirren, Timothy Spall, Johnny Flynn and Andrea Riseborough staring in Kate's directorial debut over at Netflix. As Screen Daily reports, the film in which she will also star is a contemporary fictional drama about a fractured group of siblings who pull together under sudden and trying circumstances.

Well, I cannot say I find this one at least remotely interesting, but BBC has announced February 22nd air date for their new period set drama DOPE GIRLS which looks rather depressive. New six episode series will bring 1918 Soho to life according to BBC, although they don't really look lively to me in the images nor the trailer.

Although, to be honest, the second season was unwatchable to me, Prime Video has renewed THE RINGS OF POWER epic series for season three which will jump forward several years from the events of season 2 with the story taking place at the height of the War of the Elves and Sauron, as the Dark Lord seeks to craft the One Ring that will give him the edge he needs to win the war and conquer all Middle-earth at last. Acclaimed directors Charlotte Brändström, Sanaa Hamri, and Stefan Schwartz are set for upcoming season. Filming will begin in UK this spring.

The movie follows a young Viking as he aspires to hunt dragons, and how he becomes unexpectedly a friend of a young dragon. With Dean DeBlois directing, writing and producing, the movie should fly into cinemas June 13th, 2025. Nick Frost will also star.
