Staying in Europe to present you with another non English period set TV series after our visit yesterday to Sweden and To Cook a Bear, we are today in the Baltics with DETECTIVE VON FOCK six episode historical crime drama inspired by Ain Kütt’s novels with the story set in early 19th century Estonia, a time when Baltic Germans dominated high society. Beside the Baltic national broadcasters ERR, LTV and LRT, where it already aired last spring, if I got it correctly the series will air on ZDF in Germany as well. BBC has released a trailer for their new six episode romantic comedy series FILM CLUB that stars Aimee Lou Wood and Nabhaan Rizwan
as Tom and Evie who watch a film together in her garage every week. Starting October 7th on BBC Three, the series also stars Suranne Jones and Owen Cooper.

AFTER THE FIRST FILM
in which the world was rocked by a comet saw our
heroes hide in a bunker and then come out of it after nine months as the
survivors of the apocalypse, in the sequel the survived Garrity family
emerges outside after five years and must leave the safety of the
Greenland bunker and embark on a perilous journey across the decimated
wasteland of Europe to find a new home. While the first film was made for around 35 million, the sequel had a budget of almost 90 million.
The production team has said that they have ideas for a third part as
well.
After the stunning trailer and posters that Staz released back in July for their SPARTACUS spin off series HOUSE OF ASHUR the channel has now sent us magnificent new character images filled with armours, swords and steamy hot pecs and
abs to celebrate the announcement that the new epic saga will hit the
small screens December 5th with a two episode premiere, so we have something to hope for towards the end of the year. The series will have ten episodes and will also stream on popular streamer Stan down for the viewers who will want to watch it in Australia.

Straight from Canadian Crave streamer come first images for their new series HEATED RIVALRY which arrives this November following a pair of leading Major League Hockey players who harbor a secret: Away from their rivalry on the ice, they are secretly lovers who initially hide their confusing and complicated relationship from the world. Hudson Williams and Connor Storrie star as the serious-minded Canadian captain of the Montreal Meteors, and Russian star and playboy Ilya Rozanov of the Boston Raiders, respectively. Netflix is planning to turn Harry Allard's popular children's book MISS NELSON IS MISSING into a TV series with Melissa McCarthy tapped as the double lead. The classic book series follows a misbehaving class whose teacher is mysteriously absent from school one day. But after a week with their strict substitute, Viola Swamp, the kids can’t wait for Miss Nelson to come back. According to Deadline, McCarthy will play both Nelson and Swamp in the film.
Channel 5 has chosen Joanna Scanlan and Rupert Graves to lead MISSED CALL TV series. The five-part thriller, set against the backdrop of a picturesque French village, follows British single mother Sarah whose daughter disappears while on a school exchange trip, soon after attempting a late-night call to her mom. Despite indifference from local authorities and the host family, Sarah goes on a search for her daughter that spirals into a dangerous race against time. Robert Lindsay, Claire Keim and Francois Xavier Demaison will also star.
And it truly is stellar: Simon West's World War II action adventure movie FORTITUDE has just cast Matthew Goode, Ed Skrein, Alice Eve, Jordi Molla, Ben Kingsley, Michael Sheen, Art Malik, Lukas Haas, Nicolas Cage. It is based on the true story of British Intelligence operatives using unprecedented strategic operations to fool Nazi leadership and help change the course of World War II through the brilliance of British Army officers Dudley Clarke and Thomas Argyll “Tar” Robertson, who deployed an elaborate web of deception campaigns, including fictitious armies, fake military equipment, and a network of double agents to mislead Nazi Intelligence. Among them was Yugoslavian playboy Dusko Popov, a real-life double agent, who inspired Ian Fleming’s James Bond character.
Prime Video has unveiled first trailer for their TV series adaptation of Harlan Coben's LAZARUS in which the story will revolve around
a man who returns home after his father's suicide and begins to have
disturbing experiences that can't be explained. He quickly becomes
entangled in a series of cold-case murders as he grapples with the
mystery of his father's death and his sister's murder 25 years ago. Our
dearest Sam Claflin will lead as Laz, a well-respected forensic

Screen Australia has announced some new period set series that they will fund including FLORENCE a six episode series based on the true life story of the iconic and enigmatic designer Florence Broadhurst. It unpacks the life of a woman who irrevocably changed the style of Australia. When Florence was brutally murdered in her celebrated wallpaper studio at age 78, the shocking crime led to a mystery that remains unsolved today.
