Disney Plus has released first images from their exciting new  RIVALS eight part series set against the backdrop of the excess and antics of the power-grabbing social elite of 1980s England and delving into the ruthless world of independent television in 1986. In the fictional county of Rutshire, along-standing rivalry between two powerful men is about to boil over. Alex Hassell plays dashing ex-Olympian, Tory Member of Parliament and incorrigible rake, the dangerously charismatic Rupert Campbell-Black. David Tennan is Ruperts ambitious and egotistical Rutshire neighbour Lord Tony Baddingham, controller of Corinium Television. A long-simmering power struggle between them threatens to boil over when the two men lock horns over the future of Corinium. Caught in the crossfire is TV presenter Declan OHara, (Aidan Turner). Fiercely intellectual, with an even fiercer temper, he is wooed to Corinium TV from the BBC by Baddingham himself, but feels he’s been swindled when Tony refuses to deliver on his promises. Furious with Tony, Declan vows to get his revenge. Victoria Smurfit is Maud OHara, a former actress and Declans bohemian, fickle wife. Bella Maclean is Declan and Mauds tender-hearted yet strong-willed elder daughter, Taggie. She holds the O Hara family together and keeps an eye on her younger and wilder sister Caitlin  (Catriona Chandler). Nafessa Williams is Cameron Cook, a ferociously talented American TV executive who is brought to Corinium by Tony to produce Declans new prime-time talk show. She soon finds herself caught between the two powerful men who deeply underestimate her at their peril. Katherine Parkinson is Lizzie Vereker, a romantic novelist consistently overlooked by her preening and self-centred TV presenter husband, James Vereker (Oliver Chris). Danny Dyer is Freddie Jones: honourable, loyal and lovable, he’s a self-made electronics millionaire. Freddie's got the money, but finds himself, along with his social-climbing wife Valerie (Lisa McGrillis), an outsider to Rutshires cliques. Emily Atack is Sarah Stratton, the new wife to Deputy Prime Minister, Paul Stratton (Rufus Jones). Sarah is ambitious and not afraid to use her looks to get to the top. Though he’s never had the courage to admit it to himself, let alone his family, church and community, Angelo is gay. When Angelo’s adult children and friends start to suspect he is dating a man, they do everything they can to shove him back into the closet. Navigating the fears and prejudices of everyone around him, Angelo must choose between fitting in and finally being true to himself. Better out late than never.

Well, this one is finally coming to the cinemas June 14th so we have received the first trailer for FIREBRAND historical movie drama with Jude Law as King Henry VIII and Alicia Vikander as his last wife Katherine Parr. The film that also stars Amr Waked, Eddie Marsan, Simon Russell Beale, Sam Riley and Patsy Ferran, did not receive well criticism after it's festival run, but we will judge for ourselves. The film did have a rather long way to theatres from changing the lead actress to changing the title.

Their most ambitious project, promising to deliver a series of unparalleled scale and impact, is based on the literary masterpiece where history is told as a thriller and captivate audiences with its narrative depth and authenticity. 

 

BASED ON THE 1975 NON FICTION BOOK

by Larry Collins and Dominique Lapierre, the political drama delves into India’s independence movement, weaving together untold tales and critical moments from the era when the country’s then British colonial rulers partitioned the country into India and Pakistan. The series will chart the history from early calls for self-rule to the moment of independence in 1947, and delve into the motivations, conflicts and sacrifices of key figures like Gandhi, Nehru and Patel. 

WHO IS IN THE CAST?

Sidhant Gupta plays Jawaharlal Nehru, who became the first Prime Minister of independent India, Chirag Vohra is Mahatma Gandhi and Rajendra Chawla will portray Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, who became the first deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister of India. English cast includes Luke McGibney and Cordelia Bugeja who will play the last Viceroy and Vicereine of India, Lord Louis Mountbatten and Lady Edwina Mountbatten, respectively. Alistair Findlay is Archibald Wavell, the Commander-in-Chief and Viceroy of India preceding Mountbatten. Andrew Cullum brings to life Clement Attlee, the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1945 to 1951, while Richard Teverson portrays Cyril Radcliffe, the chairman of the Boundary Commission for the Partition of India.

Directed by Annabel Jankel, it is based on the true story of Freddie Knoller (Tønnesen), a young man forced to flee Vienna as Nazi hysteria takes hold. The story is set in a burlesque world of 1940s Paris. Knoller’s captivating story has been widely recognized around the world and he was honored by the late Queen Elizabeth.

in the midst of the D-Day invasion. The story follows a group of U.S. soldiers who are given orders to smuggle a member of the French resistance behind enemy lines in order to assassinate a high-value Nazi target. June, 1944. With the US invasion of Europe hanging in the balance, Allied commanders issued a top-secret directive that would send six men behind enemy lines to assassinate a high-value Nazi target. A mixed unit of soldiers from the 82nd Airborne, comprised of men from Easy, Able and Dog Companies, was joined by a lone member of the French Resistance. Their mission has never been officially acknowledged, and there is no record the unit ever existed. But those who were there gave it a name of its own: Murder Company. The movie is based on actual events!
