British Broadcaster BBC One has released first images and a trailer for their new psychological thriller TV series THE RAPTURE adapted from Liz Jensen’s bestselling novel. The five parter is a high-stakes thriller which crackles with danger. Set in a heatwave, with protestors on the streets, forensic psychologist Gabs Fox (Ruth Madeley) starts a new job at a high-security psychiatric hospital where she meets 17-year-old Bethany Krall (India Amarteifio). Bethany was convicted of murdering her mother but claims she is innocent. She is estranged from her father Leonard (Sam Hazeldine), who is the charismatic leader of an influential religiousmovement. Bethany tells Gabs that she has psychic powers and can predict the future - but what will it take for Gabs to believe her? And if Bethany didn’t kill her mother, then who did? According to Deadline, Patty Jenkins will produce romantic movie adaptation of Sidney Karger's best seller BEST MEN about a romantically challenged “man of honour” who falls for the groom’s charming best man. To be directed by Jason Crain this gay love story follows romantically challenged Max Moody, who is asked by his childhood best friend Paige to serve as her “man of honor” at her wedding, only to be paired with the groom’s impossibly charming best man, Chasten. What begins as competitive misery soon gives way to unexpected chemistry, transforming the wedding Max has been dreading into the romance he never saw coming!

The book is out this September as the first part of The Lyrian Sea duology. According to Deadline, it will be an epic adventure of love and betrayal, amid a brutal war for the high seas, a pirate fantasy set against the fall of the Golden Age of Piracy, following a former noblewoman caught between empire and rebellion – and between duty and the only man she’s ever loved.

The film stars Mena Massoud (Aladdin) as the prophet Daniel and Elijah Alexander (The Chosen) as King Nebuchadnezzar. From the sun-baked streets of Jerusalem to the power centre of ancient Babylon, this is more than a movie. It’s a reminder that even in the darkest times, God still delivers, still speaks, and still raises up unlikely heroes who refuse to bow.

Back in 2022 I reported that Serbian star Milos Bikovic will lead historical movie THE BIRTH OF AN EMPIRE (Рождение империи) butthen about a year ago I told you that it will be Aleksandar Gorbatov who will play the lead role of Tzar Peter I at the time after the defeat in the Battle of Narva and before the victory in the Battle of Poltava. And now we have a new trailer from the film which is supposed to arrive to Russian cinemas October 29th 2026. In addition to Peter I, the film will also feature his courtiers Menshikov, Sheremetyev, Romodanovsky and Foreign Minister Golovin. Menshikov will actually be played by Milos Bikovich, Romodanovsky by Vitaly Khaev, Sheremetyev by Alexey Guskov. The female roles will be played by Yulia Peresild (Anna Mons) and Ksenia Utekhina (the future Catherine I). Andrei Kravchuk is directing.

Since romantasy is so popular among the female audiences, Starz has opted THE WOLF KING romantic fantasy saga by Lauren Palphreyman for a TV series adaptation, and that also includes the sequels The Night Prince, which was published in 2025, and The Wolf Queen, set for release this November. According to Variety, the story follows a princess named Aurora who is kidnapped by a werewolf and finds herself ensnared in a lethal love triangle and  is thrust into a war between humankind and her feral captors, forcing her to decide whether she’s a prize to be claimed or the master of her own destiny. Tanya Saracho has been set as the show runner and will also executive produce the series with Palphreyman.

I have two new Australian shows to present to you today, spylings, beginning with TREASURE & DIRT which arrives to their national broadcaster ABC July 19th with our dear Michael Dorman, whom you watched in Territory series, in the lead role. The story of the six part crime thriller is set in the scorched, dust choked opal mining town of Nulla, where the brutal beheading of local miner pulls big-city detective Ivan Lucic (Dorman) into a labyrinthine case with no easy answers. Assigned to him is ambitious rookie detective Nell Buchanan (Liv Hewson) who knows Nulla’s lawless, corrupt underbelly far better than he does. STAR TREK SERIES RETURNS THIS JULY

The fourth season begins next month

Back in April we had the first teaser for the fourth and the penultimate season of STAR TREK: STRANGE NEW WORLDS and now we have a full trailer for the series that returns July 23rd with new episodes streaming weekly on Paramount Plus. The streamer has also released a poster for the new season featuring Anson Mount, Rebecca Romijn, Ethan Peck and others who have already shot both final seasons earlier last winter. The final season will have only six episodes, while the fourth one will have the usual ten this summer. It is not impossible that the series might birth a spin off in which Paul Wesley takes over Enterprise as Captain Kirk after guest starring in this series. You can see him in one of the season four images today together with Dan Jeannotte who plays his brother Sam Kirk, a regular crew member of Enterprise. We also know that Thomas Jane will join the last season next year as Doctor Bones and Kai Murakami as Sulu.
