New season starts tonight with six new episodes

Although the launch date in UK and USA still has not been revealed, just like last year, popular costume drama from Channel 5 THE FORSYTES will have the world premiere of its second season tonight, September 13th, for those in Europe who have Viasat Epic Drama Channel, which is mostly the Balkans and Ex Yugoslavia. Joshua Orpin, Francesca Annis, Jack Davenport, Danny Griffin, Stephen Moyer, Millie Gibson, Tuppence Middleton, Eleanor Tomlinson all return with Richard Rankin joining the cast in the second run. IN THE NEW CHAPTER

 which was shot last year in Britain, the proud dynasty of 19th century investment bankers faces a new era of scandal, ambition, and shifting loyalties. As love, legacy and reputation collide, the cracks in the family’s polished façade grow ever deeper. With both of the Forsyte younger cousins having problems in their marriages due to their spoilt, immature and treacherous wives, the second season will pick up about six months after the season one finale. Channel 5 and PBS Masterpiece have already shot the third season as well which will be set at the French Riviera and will also have Gregg Sulkin in the cast! Nick Sandow's movie VIVIEN & THE FLORIST with Carla Gugino as Vivien Leigh has finished shooting exploring Leigh’s struggle with bipolar disorder in the 1960s, as she prepares to lead the Broadway production of John Gielgud’s (David Hyde Pierce) Chekhov adaptation of Ivanov. Leigh collides with Joseph Penn (Matthew Modine), a WWII  veteran and florist who encounters Leigh on a delivery. At the same time, the star attends a local psychiatric facility for electroconvulsive therapy. Amidst the backdrop of madness Leigh and Penn become each other’s sources of truth, beauty, and love. Jack Davenport is Laurence Olivier with Eoin Macken also in the cast.

NEW CHANNEL 5 SAGA STARTS TOMORROW

It is finally the time for the top new TV series of the season to start airing! Admittedly, new version of famous The Forsyte Saga with six episodes based on John Galsworthy famous novel had its world premiere last week in Central Europe on Epic Drama Channel, but THE FORSYTES will start over at British Channel 5 tomorrow, October 20th and will then cross the ocean to visit American audience March 22nd next year on PBS Masterpiece which has already renewed the new costume drama for a second season.

 

 IN THE STORY THAT FOLLOWS

a rich British family in 1880s London Francesca Annis will play formidable Forsyte matriarch Ann. Stephen Moyer is Ann’s eldest son, Jolyon Senior, head of the family stockbroking firm Forsyte & Co. Danny Griffin plays his bohemian son Jo, while Tuppence Middleton is his status-driven wife Frances. Jack Davenport plays Ann’s competitive younger son James.  Joshua Orpin stars as James’ shrewd son Soames, with  Millie Gibson  as his love interest. Tom Durant Pritchard  plays Monty Dartie, James’ son-in-law. Eleanor Tomlinson plays Louisa Byrne, a Soho dressmaker and Jo’s first love. Family stability is threatened by two chance encounters for rival cousins, Jolyon and Soames, throwing their previously steady lives into disarray. Married Jolyon contends with the reappearance of his former lover, Louisa, a lady’s maid-turned-dressmaker, while daughter June falls for a penniless architect. Soames, meanwhile, is enchanted by the beautiful and free-spirited dancer Irene. All must decide whether to be ruled by the head or the heart. Ten years after Jolyon’s marriage to high society favourite, Frances, the Forsytes prepare to celebrate daughter June’s 18th birthday and entrance into society. Ambitious Frances is determined to secure her an advantageous marriage. Meanwhile, the question of the succession of the family firm, Forsyte & Co., hangs heavily in the air with brothers, and rivals, Jolyon Senior and James battling for their own sons, Jolyon and Soames, to triumph as chairman. Despite Jolyon’s protests, Soames wastes no time in demonstrating his ruthless business acumen by seizing an opportunity to offload risky shares in a mining company, consequently causing its collapse, and the destitution of many of its shareholders. Elsewhere, Soames finds himself utterly captivated by the beautiful dancer Irene Heron, leaping to her assistance after her father’s sudden collapse. Just as Soames and James’s plans to conspire against them escalate, Jolyon Senior makes a shock announcement at June’s birthday party. Frances, meanwhile, suspicious of her husband’s unceremonious disappearance from their daughter’s party, follows him and makes a shocking discovery.

FIRST EMILY BLUNT PHOTOS

Well, it has been a very, very long wait, but BBC has finally published first images from their new Western series THE ENGLISH with Emily Blunt in the lead role. Given that it will air in November on BBC Two not One, might it mean it is not good when they moved it to their less watched channel especially given the fact that we waited for years for it to arrive after being announced first? Well let us hope not. Emily Blunt stars in this six episode series as Lady Cornelia Locke and Chaske Spencer as Pawnee ex-cavalry scout Eli Whipp in high-octane western which will also stream on Prime Video in the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. The series’ acclaimed ensemble cast includes Stephen Rea, Valerie Pachner, Rafe Spall, Tom Hughes, Toby Jones and Ciarán Hinds!

 

   THE ENGLISH TAKES
 the core themes of identity and revenge to tell a uniquely compelling parable on race, love and power. An aristocratic Englishwoman, Lady Cornelia Locke (Emily Blunt) and Eli Whipp (Chaske Spencer) come together in 1890 mid-America to cross a violent landscape built on dreams and blood.Both of them have a clear sense of their destiny but neither is aware that it is rooted in a shared past. They must face increasingly terrifying obstacles that will test them to their cores, physically and psychologically. But as each obstacle is overcome it draws them closer to their ultimate destination, the new town of Hoxem, Wyoming. It is here, after an investigation by the local sheriff Robert Marshall (Stephen Rea) and young widow Martha Myers (Valerie Pachner) into a series of bizarre and macabre unsolved murders, that the full extent of their intertwined history will be truly understood, and they will come face to face with the future they must live.

PUTS JOSH O'CONNOR AND JACK DAVENPORT IN THE CAST

According to Screen Daily, Josh O'Connor has penned new movie BONUS TRACK in which he will also star next to Jack Davenport, Alison Sudol, Susan Wokoma, Ray Pathaki and young Joe Anders and Samuel Small in the lead roles. Set in 2006, the Sky film follows a 16-year-old who believes he is a future star musician, even when no-one else in his small town does. The arrival of the son of a famous musical duo who helps him rehearse for a talent show leads both boys to learn from each other and grow closer.
