developer is found dead, the four find themselves in the middle of
their first live crime. Variety reports that 14 studios fought for the
movie right on this one. David Tennant, Jonathan Pryce, Naomi Ackie, Daniel Mays and Henry Lloyd-Hughes also star in the movie.
BritBox has sent us the first trailer for their four part adaptation of Elizabeth George's Inspector LYNLEY novels in which our dearest Leo Suter takes the lead role with Sofia Barclay
as DS Barbara Havers.
Lynley is a brilliant detective who's something of an outsider because
of his aristocratic upbringing. Havers comes from a working class
background, and she's more of an instinct-driven maverick. Though they
have little in common and they don't always get along, they learn to work together to help get justice for victims of horrific crimes. WHO IS IN THE CAST?
Daniel Mays
will play DCI Brian Nies, the astute, suspicious Senior Detective at
Three Counties Major Incident Team, whose aversion to Lynley is partly
born of his own insecurities about class and partly because he knows
he’s no longer the smartest person in the room. Niamh Walsh stars
as Helen Clyde, an estate agent and Lynley’s former Oxford classmate
whose romance with Lynley is sparked when their paths fatefully cross on
a case; Michael Workeye as tech specialist Tony Bekele; and Joshua Sher as forensic scientist, Simon St. James. The series will stream on BritBox in USA September 4th and BBC One in UK this Autumn. Each of the four episodes of the new mini series will be a TV film of 90 minutes.

DISNEY PLUS NEW SERIES SUSPECT: THE SHOOTING OF JEAN CHARLES DE MENEZES
As Deadline reports, our dearest Russell Tovey has joined the cast of Disney Plus new true story series SUSPECT: THE SHOOTING OF JEAN CHARLES DE MENEZES which describes the tragic shooting of an innocent man mistaken for a terrorist in London bombings twenty years ago. Edison Alcaide will play De Menezes whose death happened around two weeks after 7/7 following a second set of planned attacks, which failed but set off a manhunt. The Brazilian electrician was mistakenly shot by police at a London underground station, leading to protests, introspection over shoot-to-kill policies and fierce criticism of the Metropolitan Police. Russell Tovey will also star alongside Conleth Hill, Max Beesley, Emily Mortimer, Daniel Mays, Laura Aikman and Alex Jennings. Mortimer and Hill will play police chiefs.

With filming beginning this month, David Tennant, Jonathan Pryce, Naomi Ackie, Daniel Mays and Henry Lloyd-Hughes have joined Netflix’s movie THE THURSDAY MURDER CLUB joining Helen Mirren, Pierce Brosnan, Ben Kingsley, and Celia Imrie. Chris Columbus directs the film about a group of friends in a retirement home who gather to solve murders for fun, but find themselves caught in a real case. Mirren is ex-spy Elizabeth, Kingsley is ex-psychiatrist Ibrahim, Brosnan is former union activist Ron and Imrie is ex-nurse Joyce.
UKTV's Alibi channel has set a new six episode series for 2025 from Mark Gatiss who also stars as a book shop-owning sleuth. Set in 1946 London BOOKISH will see him play the erudite and unconventional Gabriel Book, who helps the police to solve a variety of mysterious crimes from his antiquarian bookshop.
Polly Walker will play his wife Trottie, a charismatic adventuress whom Book loves but not physically, for they are in a ‘lavender’ marriage to conceal Book’s sexual orientation in a time when it was illegal to be gay.
Joely Richardson, Daniel Mays, Jonas Nay, Connor Finch, Elliot Levey and Buket Kömür also star.
With three main cases in the series, each storyline spans two episodes.

We are going British today, starting with the first images from THE LONG SHADOW true crime drama which is coming to ITV and ITVX next month! The seven part series depicts the desperate five-year hunt for serial killer Peter Sutcliffe, sensitively focussing on the lives of the victims who crossed his path and those of the officers at the heart of the police investigation. With the victims, their families and the survivors at the heart of this series, we get a new perspective to a well-documented story.
Meticulously researched and drawing upon the most extensive archive of the investigation, comprising of hundreds of case files, interview transcripts and police reports, the series stars Toby Jones as DCS Dennis Hoban, who initially led the enquiry, with David Morrissey taking the role of DCS George Oldfield, who famously took on the investigation.
