Disney Plus ordered this one for two seasons originally so they are now ready to give us the second season from January 9th. A THOUSAND BLOWS will stream on Hulu in USA like the last time with Malachi Kirby, Erin Doherty and Stephen Graham returning to the 1880s London! Ned Dennehy and Catherine McCormack join the cast as Bull Jeremy and Sophie Lyons, with Daniel Mays and Jason Tobin returning from the first season.   WHAT TO EXPECT FROM SEASON 2? 

With the characters continuing their battle for survival in the brutal East End of London in the 1880s, season two picks up one year after the events of season one. Hezekiah (Kirby)’s a shadow of the man he once was whilst Sugar Goodson (Graham) is estranged from his family and drinking himself to death. Just as Wapping is about to sigh its last breath, Mary Carr (Doherty) bursts back into town with her loyal second, Alice Diamond, to reassemble her gang and reclaim her crown. As always, Mary has a plan; one which will involve all those she holds dearest. And this time it’s riskier than ever.

BODIES which will stream from October 19th! The eight part thriller is a small screen adaptation of the 2015 graphic novel by Si Spencer. The story focuses on four detectives in four different London eras who find themselves investigating the same murder: 1890s overachiever Edmond Hillinghead (Kyle Soller), 1940s adventurer Karl Whiteman (Jacob Fortune Lloyd), 2010s Detective Sergeant Shahara Hasan (Amuka Okaflor) and Maplewood (Shira Haas), an amnesiac from post-apocalyptic 2050, who brings a haunting perspective. Together, the four set out to uncover a conspiracy spanning 150 years. Stephen Graham also stars.

This one has started shooting last November at Hawaii before moving in February to New Zealand where the series had been shooting till June for Apple TV Plus! Jason Momoa leads the cast of the series set in the late 18th Century when the four major kingdoms of Hawaii were constantly in a state of war. Legendary warrior Kaʻiana is pulled into battle when Seers and visions name him as the one who will fulfill an Ancient Prophecy that will bring peace to all of Hawaii.

A GENTLEMAN IN MOSCOW

Ewan McGregor is also looking dashing and swell in full costume for his new historical series A GENTLEMAN IN MOSCOW from Showtime and

Paramount+ based on the 2016 novel of the same name by Amor Towles. He stars as Count Alexander Rostov. When, in 1922, he is deemed an unrepentant aristocrat by a Bolshevik tribunal, the count is sentenced to house arrest in the Metropol, a grand hotel across the street from the Kremlin. Rostov, an indomitable man of erudition and wit, has never worked a day in his life, and must now live in an attic room while some of the most tumultuous decades in Russian history are unfolding outside the hotel's doors. Unexpectedly, his reduced circumstances provide him a doorway into a much larger world of emotional discovery. The series also stars Ewan's love partner Mary Elisabeth Winstead and our dear John Heffernan! I hear the shooting that started back in February was almost over when it was suspended this month due to the actors' strike. 

THE DECAMERON

I was not sure whether to even include this one or not, as the cast seems beyond atrocious for a historical series and plus it is being done for Netflix, but you can check out first set images from their new eight episode series adaptation of the famous THE DECAMERON! In 1348, as the Black Death strikes hard in the city of Florence. A handful of nobles are invited to retreat with their servants to a grand villa in the Italian countryside and wait out the pestilence with a lavish holiday. But as social rules wear thin, what starts as a wine-soaked sex romp in the hills of Tuscany descends into an all out scramble for survival.

THE LIONS OF SICILY

Another Italy set series to expect is the adaptation of beloved historical saga THE LIONS OF SICILY over at Disney Plus. It follows the Florio family where brothers Paolo (Vinicio Marchioni) and Ignazio (Eduardo Scarpetta) are two small spice merchants who have escaped from a Calabria stuck in the past and in search of social redemption. In Sicily they invent a future, turning a small, run-down shop into a flourish business activity that young Vincenzo, with his revolutionary ideas, will transform into an economic empire. However, overwhelming Vincenzo's life and that of the entire family is the disruptive arrival of Giulia (Miriam Leone), a strong and intelligent woman who is in contrast with the rigid rules of the society of the time.

Joshua Oppenheimer's apocalyptic new movie will have George Mackay, Stephen Graham and Tilda Swinton in the cast.  In THE END, a wealthy family survives in a palatial bunker, two decades after the world has ended. There is a mother, father, and their twenty-year-old son – he was born in the bunker and has never seen the outside world. There is a maid, with whom the son has his only honest relationship. There is also a doctor, a butler – and finally a young woman who, having barely survived, manages to find her way in. The film is a musical, and the title is THE END. Before the young woman arrives, the family celebrates their survival as confirmation of their success and righteousness, but unspoken blame over leaving loved ones behind has come between the parents, hollowing out whatever intimacy they once shared. They struggle to repress the guilt they feel for this as well as a more diffuse regret for contributing to the world’s end (The Father was an oil tycoon.) They are afraid to face their guilt, and it is this fear, more than the inhospitable conditions outside, that prevents them from leaving. Were they to leave, they’d be confronted by the truth of what they did to the world – and the fate to which they abandoned their families.

Well here's a hot cast if there ever was one: our sweetest Bart Edwards, hunky Adam Demos and Radha Mitchell will lead Australian romantic drama TAKE MY HAND. You already know that Nordic streamer Viaplay is planning a world expansion and it is already available in UK and some other European countries, and now they have added another English language series to their slate: Richard Rankin will play inspector REBUS in their new English original. The story follows 40-year-old Inspector John Rebus at a psychological crossroads following an altercation with an infamous Edinburgh gangster. At odds with a job increasingly driven by technocrats, involved in a toxic affair he knows he needs to end, and all but supplanted in his daughter’s life by his ex-wife’s wealthy new husband, Rebus begins to wonder if he still has a role to play – either as a family man or a police officer. Ian Rankin, no relation with Richard himself, wrote more than 20 novels about inspector Rebus.
