According to Deadline, NBC has set Damon Wayans Jr. as the lead of their new drama pilot PUZZLE. After barely escaping a tragic fire, once promising college athlete Mike Brink is transformed by a traumatic brain injury that gives him the unique ability to see the world in an unexpected way and helps him solve crimes with local police. Mike makes his living by betting on sports and is uniquely equipped to do this because he developed Acquired Savant Syndrome as a result of the brain injury. This rare phenomenon gives him exceptional skills in puzzle-solving, higher math functions and pattern recognition.
With the cancellation of Territory over at Netflix, Reba's Happy's Place and Georgie and Mandy's Second Marriage sitcoms getting second seasons ordered and the launch of Marie Antoinette second season and A Thousand Blows first season, we had a busy TV week which ends today with the start of NBC's new drama GROSSE POINTE GARDEN SOCIETY which

As Deadline reports Liza Palmer's freshly released book FAMILY RESERVATIONS will be turned into a TV series at NBC.
The book, which she wrote in early mornings while battling cancer,
follows culinary pioneer and world renowned restaurateur Maren Winter,
who is nearing retirement. Each of her three daughters is eager to take
the reins of running her restaurant empire, the Winter Group. Ruled by
her deep insecurities about becoming irrelevant, Maren pits her three
daughters against each other, beginning her own dangerous descent into
madness and starting the Winter sisters on their journey to freedom. Empire's Ilene Chaiken will produce.

After an unexpected diagnosis, Hank reconnects with his responsible adult son Ben in hopes of making new memories together.
NBC has unveiled their MidSeason schedule and they will be the network with the first new sitcom of the new year. EXTENDED FAMILY will first have a premiere the same night as the second season of Night Court as an early Christmas gift December 23rd and then both comedies will settle into their Tuesday evening slot from January 2nd!

LA BREA SEASON 2
TEASER AND AIR DATE
NBC has at the same time published first teaser for the second season of LA BREA series which returns September 27th with 14 episodes. Eoin Macken and Natalie Zea lead the series about a group of Los Angelenos who disappeared into a sinkhole and emerged 12,000 years into the past. In the new season some of the characters will time travel into some other period of the past which should make the plot more dynamic. The episodes will stream on Peacock after airing on NBC.

New issue of Empire will feature other never before seen images and stills from the new Avatar movie and it is out in newsstands next week. SeeSaw Films has published first photos from their new historical movie OPERATION MINCEMEAT which should arrive at the very beginning of January, to Netflix, possibly, as well.
