I told you that CBS has ordered a pilot for an unusual period set costume multicamera sitcom REGENCY and now they have revealed that Rhys Darby will take the lead in the comedy series that will be set in early 19th century and follow the upper middle class Tillbrooks as they navigate life, love, and scandal in 19th century England. Darby will lead the series as Arthur Tillbrook, head of the family home, Hartford Park. Arthur is heir to a vast cheese empire but prefers to think of himself as a “guy’s guy.” He will go to great lengths to prove his masculinity, though his privileged upbringing reveals itself every time. This new costume multicamera sitcom is being prepared for the 2026/2027 new television season, which means we will know its destiny this summer - whether it will air in Autumn or Mid Season or not air at all.

Well, it will be the first of its kind: CBS has ordered a pilot for first ever period set multicamera sitcom REGENCY from Tara Fernandez (Big Bang Theory, Young Sheldon). A historical spin on the classic multi-cam family sitcom, it will be centered around the upper-middle class Tillbrooks as they navigate life, love, and scandal in 19th Century England. The comedy will be in consideration for the 2026/2027 TV season. Regency period lasted from 1811 till 1820.

Returning with the second season tonight over at CBS is GEORGIE & MANDY'S FIRST MARRIAGE multi camera sitcom with Montana Jordan and Emily Osment. Season two picks up after the season 1 finale, which found Mandy keeping the truth about working with an ex-boyfriend from Georgie. When he learns the truth, he's moved to buy her father Jim's (Will Sasso) auto shop and go into business with Ruben (Jessie Prez). It's all leading up to a hilarious season with some big changes in store. Rachel Bay Jones and Dougie Baldwin are back as Mandy's mother and brother Audrey and Connor. Daily Mail have got their hands on the first set images from Peacock's new historical saga THOSE ABOUT TO DIE showing Anthony Hopkins as emperor Vespasian of Rome and a glimpse of Tom Hughes as his son Titus and Jojo Macari as his younger son. The $135 million worth series is set in the complex and corrupt world of ancient Rome’s spectacle-driven gladiatorial competition and following an ensemble of characters from all corners of the Roman Empire. Roland Emmerich is producing the series which will also star Rupert Penry Jones, Iwah Rheon, Lorenzo Richelmy and others.

17TH CENTURY GAY ROMANCE

Well, this could be very hot if cast right: Pedro Vasconcelos will helm new historical TV series LAND OF SHADOWS, based on  No País das Sombras novel from Emmy winner Aguinaldo Silva, about the forbidden love of two gay soldiers during the 17th Century, when Brazil was a colony of the Kingdom of Portugal. This English language drama will be set in Olinda, a Brazilian village, during the Captaincy of Pernambuco in 1604 and 1605, and reveals how the soldiers’ equality puts them in opposition to Portugal’s Holy Office of the Inquisition. The plot will also cover the persecution of New Christians, abuses against women and the romance between the wife of a sugar cane plantation lord and one of his slaves. The shooting will start early next year in Portugal and Brazil.

And that day happens to be in 1773. Naturally, the story will be set against the backdrop of the Boston Tea Party and the events surrounding it!

He has just announced that he is producing WARHAMMER series adaptation at Amazon and he will also star in the epic series based on a miniature wargame in which players enact battles using miniature models of warriors and fighting vehicles. It is set in the distant future, where a stagnant human civilization is threatened by hostile aliens and supernatural creatures. The models in the game are a mix of humans, aliens, and supernatural monsters, wielding futuristic weaponry and supernatural powers.

Meanwhile, two multicam sitcoms have been announced for January. NIGHT COURT will start on NBC January 17th with  Melissa Rauch starring as Judge Abby Stone (the daughter of the original series’ Judge Harry Stone) and John Larroquette returning as slick attorney Dan Fielding in the sitcom that follows the night shift of a Manhattan arraignment court! Hulu has, meanwhile, announced January 24th as the returning date for HOW I MET YOUR FATHER season two with Hilary Duff, Christopher Lowell, Tom Ainsley, Suraj Sharma, Kim Cattrall, and Josh Peck returning to the cast of the new season that will, if I got it right, now have 20 episodes! In other sitcom news, CBS has ordered THEY'RE WITH ME multicam about Jackie and Eli who knew right away they were soulmates… too bad their souls come with so much baggage — each has a messed-up 20-something kid and a dependent parent. It is a modern take on a blended family where, instead of young children, Jackie and Eli both come with two generations of intrusive adults. Forget about an empty nest; the number of birds and eggs has doubled.

BBC Two has released a trailer for Emily Blunt's western six episode series THE ENGLISH announcing November 10th as the airing date. Also starring Rafe Spall, Tom Hughes, Stephen Rea and Ciaran Hinds, it takes the core themes of identity and revenge to tell a uniquely compelling parable on race, love and power. An aristocratic Englishwoman, Lady Cornelia Locke (Emily Blunt) and a Pawnee ex-cavalry scout, Eli Whipp (Chaske Spencer) come together in 1890 mid-America to cross a violent landscape built on dreams and blood. I am not sure how this one has escaped my radar, I was fully convinced life is depressive and we will not be getting any new multicamera sitcoms this season, but then this one pops up: HOW WE ROLL will start next week, March 31st replacing B Positive on Thursday nights where it will roll with Ghosts, Young Sheldon an United States of Al. Pete Holmes stars as a regular Midwestern guy trying to keep his life out of the gutter in this new comedy based on pro bowler Tom Smallwood's life. It's not easy to bowl a perfect game, but Tom Smallwood is certainly going to try.

  THE SITCOM STARS 

Pete Holmes as Tom, a stoic Midwest husband and dad who gets laid off from a car assembly line and makes the extraordinary decision to provide for his family by following his dream of becoming a professional bowler. Is probably the most anticipated multicamera sitcom this season, the expectations are high as it is based on popular British comedy Miranda and it has a number of comedy legends in the cast from Mayim Bialik in the lead to Swoosie Kurtz and everybody's favourite Leslie Jordan.
