 DOLL PERIOD SET SERIES
FIRST IMAGES FROM RUSSIA
Back in late August production started on a new Russian historical television series titled DOLL (Куколка)! This detective series with a historical setting will stream on Kinopoisk online theater sometime later this year and will have linear premiere on Russian national broadcaster as well after that. Anastasia Ukolova, Gleb Bochkov, Roman Madyanov, Elena Valyushkina, Vladimir Simonov, Alexey Demidov, lead the cast of the series shooting in St. Petersburg.
THE SERIES TAKES PLACE IN 1911
A graduate of the Institute of Noble Maidens, Sasha Meshcherskaya (Ukolova) returns to a small provincial town. The well-being of her family is based on her relationship with her loving uncle, the owner of an arms factory, Nikolai Shumilov (Madyanov). Sashenka’s parents - Prince Ivan Sergeevich Meshchersky (Simonov) and Maria Ilyinichna (Valyushkina) - dream of their daughter’s early marriage, and she herself dreams of a brilliant career as an architect. Wanting to please her parents, Sasha makes new acquaintances and instantly plunges into a whirlpool of intrigue, where political interests are at stake above personal passions. Cold-blooded murders and blackmail, intricacies of conspiracies, daring provocateurs eluding detection - all this captivates the enthusiastic schoolgirl, who experiences mortal melancholy from the paucity of life prospects. Without noticing it, the heroine becomes an ideal object for terrorist hypnosis. Stay tuned for more updates from Russia as they are preparing some other period set series as well this year.

  1. Wow. And all she wanted was to be an architect.

  2. I love Russian period pieces, but I haven't liked their historical whodunits. I found Anna, the Detective dreadfully boring and The Professor that was set in that same milieu, was downright awful. I prefer historical pieces and spy yarns.

    1. I do not do detective stories either but people seem to prefer them over the ones we like. I prefer deeper past too, but we usually get late 19th and early 20th century shows. Cheaper to make.

  5. If my future were determined on marrying off Allison, I’d be screwed. She’d run off and follow her passions and leave me in the dust lol

    2. I'd rather her run off than be related to anything resembling a Harry Styles LOL
