Another day, another new period set project for us: as Deadline reports, British Drama Republic has won a heated battle for Sarah Collins' THE CONFESSIONS OF FRANNIE LANGTON which is out this spring in bookshops. It explores the beautiful and haunting tale about one woman’s fight to tell her story.
The book is set in early 19th century London with the plot following heroine, Frannie, a slave turned servant who travels with her owner from a Jamaican plantation to 1800s London, where she finds herself accused of the brutal murder of her master and mistress. Sarah Collins' debut novel will be turned into a mini TV series by the Doctor Foster and Black Earth Rising producer.

Paramount TV is preparing the adaptation
Meanwhile, Paramount Television has teamed up with The Alienist producer Cary Fukunaga and The Watchmen director Nicole Kassell to turn James Fenimore Cooper's classic historical novel THE LAST OF THE MOHICANS into new period set mini TV series! With the script penned by Fukunaga and Kassell behind the helm, THE LAST OF THE MOHICANS series will be a retelling of Cooper’s  novel about French and Indian Seven Years War that re-centres the classic tale on the unlikely romance between Uncas, a young Mohican, and Cora, the mixed race daughter of a British colonel.

  1. I hope the mini-series of "The Last of the Mohicans" is better than that bad movie with Daniel Day-Lewis.

    1. I've never seen that one but I bet it was pathetic! I do love Madeleine Stowe, though.

  2. I agree with Debra. The movie was downright awful! We had to watch it in school and it was just not a pleasant experience.

I do like that book cover!

    3. Plan ahead for next year. I better hear about you not working the whole day away and there better be some hot stud muffin mixed into the story as well!

    4. I think it is easier for me to work than not, I'd get super depressed if I wasn't working, especially in the birthday week. Work is the only thing that makes me feel valuable in any way.

  4. Both TV mini series are based on powerful, complex, and timeless materials such as: slavery, mixed races, clash of civilization, love, crime, war.

With the right cast they'll become and stay memorable cinematic gems.

    Happy Birthday to You!

    1. Slavery seems to be a new trend in historical mini series. We had Last Song on Jamaica slaves this winter and also Underground and Roots before that.

      Thank you!
