CRAZY DUOS MOVIES SUNDAY: JOHN LITHGOW & ALFRED MOLINA GO GAY IN 'LOVE IS STRANGE', STEVE COOGAN & ROB BRYDON TAKE 'THE TRIP TO ITALY', SENIOR TRIP TO ICELAND IN 'LAND HO!'

LOVE IS STRANGE
JOHN LITHGOW & ALFRED MOLINA
We're having a CRAZY DUOS MOVIES SUNDAY, people, starting with delightful comedy LOVE IS STRANGE in which reallife friends John Lithgow and Alfred Molina play a gay couple! The film, which was shown at a number of festivals this year, sees the two of them playing Ben and George, a same-sex couple forced to sell their flat and live apart after George loses his job as a school choir director right after they get married. While George moves in with two cops (Cheyenne Jackson and Manny Perez) who live down stairs, Ben lands in Brooklyn with his nephew (Darren Burrows), his wife (Marisa Tomei), and their temperamental teenage son (Charlie Tahan), with whom Ben shares a bunk bed.

THE TRIP TO ITALY
STEVE COOGAN & ROB BRYDON
Another crazy duo can be seen in delightful comedy THE TRIP TO ITALY which is currently in cinemas starring Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon who embark on a new culinary road trip around Italy in the summer, where they enjoy mouth-watering meals in the gorgeous surroundings of Liguria, Tuscany, Rome, Amalfi and Capri. They riff on subjects as varied as Batman's vocal register, Pompeii, the artistic merits of "Jagged Little Pill", and, of course, compete on who can do the best Michael Caine impersonation. Michael Winterbottom is directing!

LAND HO!
SENIOR TRIP TO ICELAND
You shall also see a crazy duo taking another joyous international trip in LAND HO! a comedy by Martha Stevens which also played at some of the movie festivals this year. Paul Eenhoorn and Earl Lynn Nelson play a pair of ex-brothers-in-law who set off to Iceland in an attempt to reclaim their youth through Reykjavik nightclubs, trendy spas, and rugged campsites. This bawdy adventure is a throwback to 1980s road trip comedies, as well as a candid exploration of ageing, loneliness, and friendship. LAND HO! lands into cinemas this July!

  4. LOVE IS STRANGE sounds good. Like John Lithgow and Alfred Molina - especially Alfred Molina!

Not a great fan of Steve Coogan so won't be watching that one.

And as for LAND HO, I've seen too many films of the same storyline. And anyway, one of the old men looks as though he's never acted before. Sorry!

Have a good weekend, Dezzy :)

    1. I don't like Coogan either, there is something so cynical and cold in him....

    2. It was such an outstanding sitcom! All of the cast members became such stars after that! Both him and Kirsten Johnston are two of the greatest sitcom comedians

  9. Part or all of this post was stolen by the blogger at benaffleckbatman.net. He did it to me too (and several others as well.) His blog needs to be taken down! As of today, I have been unable to contact him. Perhaps you will have better luck. Just thought you should know that someone is stealing from you.

    1. I'm not surprised, Heather, there are a number of blogs around the net which copy/paste everything we write (from the text to pics even fonts and colours) and earn money from Google Ads through stolen material. I haven't discovered any way to fight them :(((

    1. yep, it's been happening for years... there are blogs which are exact replicas of mine.... go figure... and there is no way to report them or sue them or whatever.....

  11. The films containing the duos look great. I like it when characters play off each other like that.

I'm sorry about your stolen blog content. It stinks when people steal our hard work.

Yep, it happens to many bloggers, maybe there's a blog which steals your material too :) Over the years I've found many of them which do that.... they don't even have followers nor commentators, just Google ads and stolen content on a daily basis
