47 RONIN
Since the Universal has released a new trailer for upcoming epic adventure 47 RONIN, set in mythical Japan about a half-breed slave (Keanu Reeves) who joins a band of 47 masterless samurai in a quest for vengeance, we shall spotlight the movie today at HOLLYWOOD SPY! This outrageously expensive historical fantasy movie (rumours say the budget went well over $200 million) is ready to battle with other films at the boxoffice released into the cinematic arena on Christmas Day!
47 RONIN STORY
From ancient Japan's most enduring tale, the epic 3D fantasy-adventure 47 RONIN is born. Keanu Reeves leads the cast as Kai, an outcast who joins Oishi (Hiroyuki Sanada), the leader of 47 outcast samurai. After a treacherous warlord kills their master and banishes their kind, 47 leaderless samurai vow to seek vengeance and restore honour to their people. Driven from their homes and dispersed across the land, this band of Ronin must seek the help of Kai, a half-breed they once rejected, as they fight their way across a savage world of mythic beasts, shape shifting witchcraft and wondrous terrors.
As this exiled, enslaved outcast becomes their most deadly weapon, he will transform into the hero who inspires this band of outnumbered rebels to seize eternity. Together they seek vengeance upon the treacherous overlord who killed their master and banished their kind. To restore honour to their homeland, the warriors embark upon a quest that challenges them with a series of trials that would destroy ordinary warriors.

SAMURAI TIDBITS
INSPIRED BY A TRUE STORY
Epic adventure 47 RONIN is helmed by visionary director Carl Erik Rinsch (The Gift). Inspired by styles as diverse as Miyazaki and Hokusai, Rinsch will bring to life the stunning landscapes and enormous battles that will display the timeless Ronin story to global audiences in a way that's never been seen before. While the film is based on the true story of the forty-seven ronin, it is a fantastical take, being set "in a world of witches and giants"! The film will tell a stylized version of the legendary story, mixing fantasy elements of the sort seen in 'The Lord of the Rings' saga, with gritty battle scenes akin to those in films such as 'Gladiator'. Costume designer Penny Rose has said that although the costumes are following the traditional style, the kimonos and other outfits will also have a fashion twist to them and will be very colourful. She previously worked on KING ARTHUR, PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN and PRINCE OF PERSIAN SANDS OF TIME.
So far it looks visually stunning.
