NEW PIRATE SHOWS: STARZ' "BLACK SAILS", FX'S "PORT ROYAL", NBC'S "REPUBLIC OF PIRATES"! "HULK" & "THE PUNISHER" TV SHOWS AT ABC? ABC ORDERS "668 PARK AVE" SHOW

Ah, my little freaks, it seems we will be having a TV day today here at your trusted HOLLYWOOD SPY. We've had lots of exciting news on future epicTV projects, and here's another one: NBC is planning an epic ten hour series on pirates. Period drama REPUBLIC OF PIRATES could air as soon as March next year. Helmed by LUTHER creator and a HARRY POTTER producer, the series is, as "Deadline" writers,  based on the book "The Republic Of Pirates" by Colin Woodard. Set during the 10-year “Golden Age of Piracy” from 1715 to 1725, it follows some of the world’s most notorious pirates as they forge their own rogue nation, called New Providence, which became the first democracy in the Americas. This is highly interesting since Starz has already ordered a whole season of pirate show BLACK SAILS to be produced by Michael Bay. They're already preparing the 8 episode show set 20 years before the events in Robert Louis Stevenson’s "Treasure
Island" and chronicling the adventures of Captain Flint and his men. To make things even crazier, FX is planning to do PORT ROYAL pirate series, while Fox has opted not to do Tony and Ridley Scott's PYRATES show.
HOLLYWOOD SPY TV NEWS
OK, people, so here's the latest TV info: As you know CW has ordered BEAUTY AND THE BEAST for the whole season, but they have cancelled THE SECRET CIRCLE. They've also ordered ARROW to be made into a whole show. Stephen Amell stars as a billionaire
who turns into Green Arrow vigilante who fights criminals and evil people of his city. Fox has, meanwhile, renewed Keifer Sutherland's TOUCH for the second run and cancelled ALCATRAZ while NBC did the same to Jason Isaac's AWAKE, and ABC has opted not to shoot the second season of THE RIVER Amazon mystery show. They did, as expected, ordered second season of ONCE UPON A TIME which has become the most successful debut show from this season earning worldwide fame. ABC has also decided to make a whole show out of their 666 PARK AVE pilot which, starring Vanessa Williams and Dave Annable, follows residents of a strange building which is under the embrace of supernatural forces.  CBS has on the other hand cancelled Patrick Wilson's A GIFTED MAN, but Wilson was relieved saying the show was not what he had signed for.

And the last TV news for today brings an interesting info from ABC: they are ready to shoot THE INCREDIBLE HULK TV series as soon as 2013! According
to "The Hollywood Reporter" Guillermo del Toro is attached to produce the show. This might mean that Mark Ruffalo  won't get a stand alone HULK film with him in the lead role after the success of THE AVENGERS. There are also rumours that ABC is preparing THE PUNISHER show as well! HOLLYWOOD SPY has mentioned a few years ago that there are also secret plans on shooting BATMAN TV show after the films are finished in cinemas, and that Karl Urban is being kept as the lead actor who will wear the bat cape on the small screens. Speaking of Marvel, director Edgar Wright has revealed today that he might start shooting ANT-MAN movie before the end of this year.

  1. "666 parkavenue" sounds a lot like "Desperate housewives". And "Awake" puts me to sleep. And this fairytale twists "Grim" and "Once upon a time" and all such gotto go.
"Ant-man" oh lord, and then would come ant-eater-man and all such.

    1. I wonder where do you see the connection between 666 and HOUSEWIVES, besides Vanessa being in both casts.
ONCE UPON A TIME is one of the most enchanting shows ever. Warm, inspiring and creative.

    3. Vanessa will be just the owner of the building, I'm not sure she will have young lovers in the shows, although who knows....

  4. Hi Dezzy - ARROW sounds like it'll be fun. And I love me some pirates, but really, the whole nasties on the nipples bugs the cret out of me. Yes, it's better than naked, but not by much. LOL

    Have a great night!

Also, I had no idea pirates were such nudists. Do you know how hard it is to sword fight in nipple armor? That woman pirate is tough! :PP

    2. All the hipsters are wearing it. Chafes a bit though. And there's absolutely no support, so you're not just swinging a sword when you fight, if you know what I mean. :PP

      Delete
    3. my principle is - swing it while you still can :)

    4. PS have you noticed that the male pirate doesn't have anything under his belt? :) That must also be tricky while wielding a sword or the sword :)

      Delete
    5. It's really very impractical to wear only a belt to a fight, but I guess if he gets excited he won't have to worry about it slipping off. O-o.

Too many things are swinging around loose on this post! :))

    6. Allow me to jump in - the first thing I noticed was the lack of clothing on the male pirate...to bad it is a cartoon... hahaha

but we do love when things are swinging ;)

you know, to tell you a secret, that male pirate actually had some pubic glory going down under the belt, but since me is known as a modest and chaste little angel ;))) I had to censor it a bit, just a bit.... a hair or two...

    9. LOL - oh my gosh! And it's on NBC? Wow, the States is getting awfully daring!

    10. why is everybody thinking that those pics are from the actual shows??? :) The shows haven't even been produced yet, the pics were randomly (following the law of naughtiness) chosen by me just as casual illustrations :)

    11. LOL - I'm glad I clicked back to this. I really did think they were from the show!!! As my kids say, "My bad." =)))

    12. but the shows won't even be animated, sister, but live action :)

  11. I like the sound of 666 Park Ave. Right up my ally!

I'm sorry to hear about The River. I enjoyed that show. It was getting very interesting and could have lead anywhere.

I'm kind of getting burnt out on so many superhero movies LOL

    1. it should be freaky and scary, and hopefully not mindlessly bizarre like AMERICAN HORROR STORY.
I haven't seen THE RIVER, but I thought it might be interesting judging from the trailers. I guess I won't watch it now that it is killed off.

      Delete
    2. You and I disagree on American Horror Story. =(

Hubby isn't real keen on that one either but my son and I love to watch it because it's so odd and creepy. But it is quite dark.

      I love freaky and scary!!

      Delete
    3. I'm fine with freaky and scary but when it has some sense and meaning. I watched the first two episodes and none of the bizarre things had any depth or any meaning behind it, so I concluded it is to freakish for me :) And although I did abundantly enjoy almost full nude Dylan, I couldn't stand that horrid red haired actress playing his wife. She has one facial expressions for all situations, I thing I've noticed that about her back in the days she played in SPIN CITY :)

  12. I kinda miss The Hulk so I may be tuning in for that one. I loved The Avengers.

  13. Did they really cancel The Secret Circle? I keep hearing it, but I'm so depressed that I refuse to believe it!! It was soo good!!! First they take away my Supernatural on Thursday nights at 9 and now this? Sigh...

    1. they sure did, sister :) But BEAUTY AND THE BEAST is getting that time slot if I heard correctly, so you will have something to watch.

    2. But, But, But.... I just signed some petition to bring it back. Does that mean there's hope??? Dez, can't you pull some strings here!!!!

      Delete
    3. AH, I could pull some strings if it were ABC, but CW is not my area :) You might ask that cat person to threaten the producers...

  14. Arrow could be interesting as the Green Arrow does show up in a lot of ancient lore as a force for good. Also he looks wonderful in those leathers and that cloak, hmmmm nom nom nom.

The first pirate series looks intriguing, but not sure about the one that leads up to Treasure Island. The animation looks bad to me. I do wish I'd drawn the poster for the first movies. She's one bodacious beauty.

    1. we do love us all things green and we do love us Steve Amell in that naughty costume :)
I expect more from the second show since it is being done by Starz, but I would've loved it more if one of these shows dealt with non-American pirates. Mediterranean ones were much more intriguing, especially the ones from the pirate republic of Bu Regreg in today's Morocco.
Both pics are just illustrations for the post, not official posters :)

  15. Very intriguing about all those shows centered on pirates. And those naughty pics. Spicy cartoons, eh? ;))

I'm glad they cancelled The River. I don't like Oren Peli's work very much and the show just seemed like Paranormal Activity transferred to the Amazon.

Karl Urban as the Caped Crusader?! I'm there. I don't need to know another word.;D

    1. it is, isn't it? We do need a bit of exotic shows on TV. Hope they will be all naked on the pirate ships :) You know, there's an idea, someone should write some pirate erotica :)

Karlito Urbanito is the God we worship :)

      Delete
    2. Why Dezz, are you saying perhaps I should write a spicy pirate tale? Hmm... inspiration... Karlito Urbanito would make a most excellent naughty pirate captain. ;))

    5. Ah yes... Poor you, shipwrecked and alone, when the wicked captain arrives on the island and starts making salacious advances. You know, we would be very dangerous in the same room together. ;)

Checking out Black Wade. Thank you darling. :)
