HOLLYWOOD SPY SPOTLIGHT ON HISTORY CHANNEL'S EPIC SERIES "HATFIELDS & MCCOYS" WITH KEVIN COSTNER, BILL PAXTON, TOM BERENGER AND SAM REID

Here's a project we haven't heard much about so far even though it's all ready to premiere in a three day event this Memorial Day over at The History Channel! It's a historical, action and drama packed series
HATFIELDS & MCCOYS  in which the story will centre on the infamous 19th-century American family feud. The airing of the series should coincide with the 150th anniversary of the feud with Kevin
Costner in the lead role. I'm guessing the series will also remind the world of how deep the American society is based on guns, violence and slaughter.

 H&M STORY
The miniseries will chronicle the bloody hostilities between two clans that escalated to the point of near war between two states. Although this is a classic tale of American history and these names are widely recognized, few people know the real story that made them famous. This fascinating and timeless saga of courage, sacrifice and family love amid
insidious plots and endless intrigue, begins with Devil Anse Hatfield (Kevin Costner) and Randall McCoy (Bill Paxton). Close friends and comrades during the Civil War, they returned to their neighbouring homes — Hatfield in West Virginia, McCoy just across the Tug River border in Kentucky — to increasing tensions, misunderstandings and resentments that soon exploded into all-out warfare between the two
families. As hostilities grew, friends, neighbours and outside forces joined the fight, bringing the two states to the brink of another Civil War. Their story also includes: a tempestuous love affair between Hatfield’s son and McCoy’s daughter, which had disastrous consequences; the execution of McCoy’s three young sons in retaliation for the Rasputin
like murder of Hatfield’s beloved brother; a New Year’s Massacre of the McCoy clan and burning of their home, which also sparked international headlines; a public clash between state governors; and ultimately the involvement of the United States Supreme Court.
 H&M TIDBITS
Beside Kevin Costner and Bill Paxton, the rather complex and big cast also includes Tom Berenger, Powers Boothe, amazing Andrew Howard (Prince Richard the Lionheart from LION IN WINTER), Mare Winningham, Sam Reid (ANONYMOUS),
Sarah Parish (THE PILLARS OF THE EARTH), and there's a bunch of gorgeous young actors: Lindsay Pulsipher, Matt Barr, Jena Malone, Boyd Holbrook, Tom McKay, Jonathan Fredrick. The series was mostly shot in Romania, Europe and a lot of Romanian actors will appear in smaller roles.

  1. Wow, I've heard the term before but never knew the story behind it. What a violent past and probably because of a misunderstanding.

    3. LOL the pringle cans are stocked and ready. You won't make general and remain my minion.

    4. The Alliance isn't taken down as easily as the cat would like to think is it, Anne? Dez has called upon the Borg for extra protection, he's getting upgraded spying equipment and your ranks grow because the cat has threatened me and my dogs with his poo filled pringle cans! All hail the Alliance!

    5. That feline offender is disgusting isn't he Elsie. The borg have stated that he's so disgusting that they won't assimilate him.

Cat, you won't get far by insulting Blabber. You're horrible by even calling her your minion. Bad, bad, bad cat.

yep, that's an interesting trend of film stars going to TV.
As you can see, my ladies defended the empire while I was with the Borg surgeons!

    8. Bah one's high on liquor, one has too many mutts and the other is my minion. So you will still never win. The cat just racks up the enemies and is still standing.

    1. You haven't heard of Costner? I used to like him then he turned into a turd so now I hate him. The cat can now put Costner into a Pringle can for all I care.

    2. haha yeah he made tons of great movies and then became a big turd indeed

    3. He did turn into a turd. Have you seen Waterworld? And he dates women that look like 14 year old girls. Disgusting, he needs snip snipped.

    4. @Jaxy
most of the young actors from the mini series are unknown, but Costner, Boothe, Berenger were stars a few decades ago

    5. @Annzie and cat
I must admit I never understood why he was popular in the first place :)

    6. He does seem kind of like an a-hole in all of his movies when you really think about it. But many of the movies were good, not saying it was because of him, still I enjoyed them. Silverado is still one of my favorite westerns. Agreed, he should be snip snipped.

    7. @Jax - If you've never heard of Kevin Costner and Bill Paxton, you don't need Dezz. You need the Blue Grumpster and the Cat - You know, the ones who know movies and are not afraid of The Thing. The what? ;)

    8. pffttt, cat's love for Buffy the Vampire Slayer is what qualifies him as someone who knows movies? And his love for Weekend At Bernies? :)

  7. You may not see these comments fo a while luv, but that line "this may remind you of how deeply violence and guns is rooted in American society" is so perfectly Dez. I'm thinking of you and wishing you well. I sent you and email dear.

  15. I'm so happy you are back and on the mend my friend. :)

This series should be interesting if a bit more dramatic than actual events. The media were eager for lurid tales back then to sell their penny tales and dime novels. There were 38 deaths in a thirty year period with most of them from a handful incidents that involved lots of people in addition to Hatfields and McCoys. I just saw a documentary on the two families. The Hatfields and McCoys today just shake their head at the "legendary" feud.

    1. dahling how is it that you know so much about this? Is you a member of the same mafia? :PPP
The exaggeration that you mention just confirms the fact that the Americans are overly obsessed with guns, paranoia and violence. They love it in their stories, films, shows, news channels, they all have guns in their homes....

  16. My husband is actually in this miniseries (the hot young actor Jonathan Fredrick that you mentioned above - yay!) and is a decendant of the Hatfields himself and is from WV. This was very well researched, and almost everything depicted actually happened. And it is going to be SO GOOD, so I hope everyone watches!

    1. ooh, your husband is utter hotness :) I'm sure it will be even more fun for you to watch the series when he is in the cast. Wishing him lots of great project in the future career!
