We're going British today, people, and first off news coming from the sequel or prequel of Helen Mirren's popular TV series PRIME SUSPECT in which she played police officer Jane Tennison for almost ten years. ITV is preparing a prequel series TENNISON in which lovely Stefanie Martini, whom we loved this spring as the star of DOCTOR THORNE, will play the young Tennison. Our equally beloved Sam Reid (Hatfields and McCoys, Belle) and Blake Harrison (The Inbetweeners) will also star in the six episode series as her superiors. The story portrays the young Tennison at the beginning of her career, revealing how and why she became such a complex and formidable character in the Metropolitan Police. We shall also watch Martini in Tarsem's EMERALD CITY TV series next year.

Meanwhile, BBC has revealed the first photos for another prequel to an all time classic - for their TV movie special on legendary TV sitcom KEEPING UP APPEARANCES which will air probably in the festive season. This time Kerry Howard will play the young Hyacinth Bucket who was originally so utterly masterfully played by beloved Patricia Routledge! One of Europe's favourite sitcom's followed the snobbish Hyacinth whose opinion of her own standing in the society, much higher than it ever should've been, kept her getting involved in all kinds of hilarious every day situations. The one hour special follows Hyacinth as a young maid in the 1950s, as she attempts to prove that she's better than her lower-class family. Katie Redford, Katherine Pearce, Mark Addy, Kerry Howard and Tamla Kari also star in the prequel.

Sony has released today the second trailer for yet another remake, this time for famous western classic THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN which will bang its way into cinemas at the end of September.

With the town of Rose Creek under the deadly control of industrialist Bartholomew Bogue (Peter Sarsgaard), the desperate townspeople employ protection from seven outlaws, bounty hunters, gamblers and hired guns - played by Denzel Washington, Chris Pratt, Ethan Hawke, Vincent D'Onofrio, Byung Hun Lee, Manuel Garcia Rulfo and Martin Sensmeier. As they prepare the town for the violent showdown that they know is coming, these seven mercenaries find themselves fighting for more than money!

Here's a new period set frock flick for us: Alexandre Aja has been hired to helm THE MARQUIS 17th century epic drama on famous Marquis de Montespan. As 'Deadline' reports, inspired by Jean Teulé’s novel, Le Montespan, which has been adapted by Aja, it covers the doomed and passionate relationship between the Marquis Louis Henri de Montespan and his wife Athénaïs, who became the mistress of Louis XIV, aka the Sun King. Although having one’s wife spend time in bed with the monarch was perceived as a source of prestige for aristocrats at the time, the Marquis vowed to get his wife back at all costs. They've spent nearly 30 years trying to free themselves from the muck of this hypocritical society they lived in!

Aja will also depict the filth and stench people lived in at that time with the doctors advising to never wash, with women peeing and defecating under their beautiful dresses, and with their strange dental ‘hygiene’ which included filling their cavities with butter and honey that would ooze out every now and then during casual conversation!

With leading TV news today being that ABC has confirmed Tim Allen's beloved sitcom LAST MAN STANDING (which has helped them dominate Friday ratings for years now) for the fifth season, and that last year biggest breakout hit EMPIRE will have 18 episodes to be aired in two 9 episode parts at Fox (and with r'n'b superstar Ne-Yo joining hip hop legend Timbaland in writing the music for the new run), you can also check out the first photos from HOT & BOTHERED, a new sitcom at NBC.

Unlike the sitcoms we reviewed yesterday, that have just been ordered, HOT & BOTHERED, previously known as TELENOVELA, had a straight to series order last winter. Eva Longoria will lead the cast of the comedy about drama behind the drama. If you think the steamy sex, sensational scandals and heart wrenching heartbreak on Latino soap operas are a little extreme, just wait until you see what happens behind the scenes! Eva Longoria is Ana Sofia, a sizzling TV superstar, and her lively family of cast and crew all competing to steal the spotlight. When the cameras turn off, the drama turns up as Ana battles pesky network execs, drunken scriptwriters, narcissistic co-stars and an unfortunately familiar new on-screen love interest. Jencarlos Canela and Jose Moreno Brooks also star.

THE START OF NEW TRILOGY  
Coming out this July, TERMINATOR GENISYS is set in 2029, when the Future War is raging and a group of human rebels has the evil artificial intelligence system Skynet on the ropes. John Connor (Jason Clarke) is the leader of the resistance, and Kyle Reese (Jai Courtney) is his loyal soldier, raised in the ruins of post apocalyptic California. As in the original film, Connor sends Reese back to 1984 to save Connor's mother, Sarah (Emilia Clarke), from a Terminator programmed to kill her so that she won't ever give birth to John. But what Reese finds on the other side is nothing like he expected.
