CHRISTOPHER HAMPTON TO PEN
SIMONE DE BEAUVOIR NELSON ALGREN AFFAIR DRAMA
As Deadline reports today, two time Oscar winner Christopher Hampton is set to pen the script for French director Anne Fontaine's film about iconic feminist writer Simone de Beauvoir and Pulitzer Prize-winning writer
Nelson Algren’s transatlantic affair. De Beauvoir and Algren met in Chicago in 1947 and immediately embarked on a passionate affair that endured for more than 20 years in spite of the complications of transatlantic travel and communication at the time.
Paris-based intellectual de Beauvoir was in the midst of completing her seminal 1949 feminist work The Second Sex and still committed to her relationship with Jean-Paul Sartre, who was her partner for 51 years until his death in 1980.
Algren is best known for his 1949 novel The Man With The Golden Arm! The film will focus on the early years of their affair, from 1948 to 1952, when their fame was rising and the political situation in France was pretty volatile.

Don't know about either the actor or author...sounds like a quite interesting one though. p.s if you are on a gf diet, and still want to enjoy bread, this seedy oatbread might be worth a try (https://angiesrecipes.blogspot.com/2022/11/seedy-oatbread-gluten-dairy-sugar-egg.html) and I also have some gf free recipes on my blog. Are you allergic to wheat? If you ain't, then gf diet might not help you improve the health at all.
ReplyDeleteThere are no actors announced yet, deary, Hampton is a script writer, he will pen the film, he previously wrote Dangerous Liaisons and also Atonement movie.
DeleteI read all the gluten free recipes on your blog before. I want to cut out bread from my diet in order to lose weight because that is the only thing that ads pounds to my body. I've already invented a GluFree diet for myself based on polenta, purees and soups.
It's a passionate affair because absence makes the heart grow fonder, right? Most days I want to toss Jason off a bridge, but that's what happens where you're together damn near 24/7. Maybe he should move across the water and I'll visit him a few times a year so we can be passionate every time we see each other again LOL
ReplyDeleteProbably the fantasizing element is there too when your lovah is just in your thoughts and imagination which ignites the naughty feelings. But I do think she was a nasty cunt if she had an affair whilst staying with the hubby for half a century... unless they had a free marriage... which I'm fine with.
DeleteIn that case, she should have brought hubby along and had a rip roaring good time with the both of them LOL!
DeleteI'm guessing he was too philosophical about it loool
