FIRST HILL OF VISION
PICS FROM HISTORICAL FILM
The film had a March movie festival premiere in Italy |
Mario Capecchi, future Nobel prize winner for medicine, was born in
Italy to an American mother, poet and political activist (Haddock), who
was arrested by the fascists in 1941 and subsequently interned in a
German concentration camp. With that arrest, Mario (Jake Donald
Crookes), at the age of five, begins a life that soon becomes wild,
violent and
adventurous. When his mother miraculously finds him in
1947, both will begin a path of rebirth that will lead Mario, to use his
own words, "from rags to riches". He won Nobel in 2007.
Edward Holcroft and Laura Haddock play Capecchis parents |
THE POT AU FEU
JULIETTE BINOCHE TO LEAD PERIOD SET CULINARY FILM
We have already seen her doing culinary wonders in Chocolat, but now Juliette Binoche will star in THE POT AU FEU with Benoit Magimel. Set in the world of French gastronomy in 1885, it charts the relationship between Eugenie, an esteemed cook, and Dodin, the chef she’s been working
for over the last 20 years. Growing fonder of one another, their bond turns into a romance and gives rise to delicious dishes that impress even the world’s most illustrious chefs. The story is inspired by the famous French gastronome Jean Anthelme Brillat-Savarin.
In real life, Benoit and Juliette have a daughter together |
Almost didn't recognize Edward Holcroft here..Laura Haddock on the first picture looks even like Angelina Jolie.
ReplyDeleteShe is about hundred times prettier than Angelina and Holfcroft is the ultimate dish :)
Deleteis this a film or a series?
ReplyDeleteBoth are films.
DeleteYes to both, please! Though French food for the win for me today. Is there anything more enticing than french food and romance paired together?
ReplyDeleteAre you watching Julia on HBO? It is the sweetest show we have seen in many years, methinks. I have just two more episodes left.
DeleteNot yet. I am just now winding down with my busy season. I have most of June off and I think all of July, so I'll be able to start watching it then. I am glad to hear that it does not disappoint!
DeleteI think you will love it, it is one of those series where you do not want episodes to end and they are just 45 mins long but you want them lasting at least for an hour.
DeleteI'm with Theresa. French food for the win but YES to both! I bet they're chemistry made for some fabulous eats.
ReplyDeleteI bet!
