BBC'S THE GOLD SERIES
REVEALS WILDLY STELLAR CAST
And oh, my, it sure is stellar: Hugh Bonneville, Jack Lowden Tom Cullen, Dominic Cooper alongside Charlotte Spencer and Stefanie Martini will star in BBC One's new six part series THE GOLD which will also air on Paramount + in USA. On the 26 November 1983, six armed men broke into the Brink’s-Mat security depot near London’s Heathrow Airport,
and inadvertently stumbled across gold bullion worth £26m. What started as 'a typical Old Kent Road armed robbery' according to detectives at the time, became a seminal event in British criminal history, remarkable not only for the scale of the theft, at the time the biggest in world history, but for its wider legacy.
The disposal of the bullion caused the birth of large-scale international
money laundering, provided the dirty money that helped fuel the London Docklands property boom, united blue and white collar criminals and left controversy and murder in its wake.
Inspired by extensive research and interviews with some of those involved in the events, THE GOLD is a pulsating dramatization which takes a journey into a 1980s world awash with cheap money and loosened morals to tell this extraordinary and epic story for the first time in its entirety.

APPLE UNVEILS 1ST PICS FROM
UNNAMED PERIOD SET COMEDY
Apple has sent us first two photos of Noel Fielding in their new period set comedy series in which he plays legendary British highwayman DICK TURPIN. The comedy adventure show follows Fielding as the most famous, but least likely of highway robbers whose success is defined mostly by his charm, showmanship and great hair (which is hilarious in itself given that Noel has the ugliest hair the world has ever seen). Together with his gang of loveable rogues, Dick rides the highs and lows of celebrity — and does what he can to escape the clutches of the Thief Taker General.
I'm cracking up at your ugly hair comment! Robbery is the theme of the day today.. LOL
ReplyDeleteHave you seen him? He has the fugliest thing on his head and is also a terrible actor, he pretty much ruined British Bake Off for me.
DeleteI didn’t but looked it up right after my first comment. It is pretty bad. Hahaha
DeleteLike he is combing his hair with firecrackers.
DeleteNice post❤
ReplyDeleteEver a woman of so many words!
DeleteI've never been big on comedies. I like spooky type shows more.
ReplyDeleteYou do live in a spooky world.
Delete£26m worth of gold...that's something! what a pity that it's not on netflix...
ReplyDeleteIt is on Paramount Plus, they are spreading across Europe soon.
DeleteWe barely signed up for Paramount+. Not sure we'll keep it.
ReplyDeleteYou should stick with it a bit longer, I think it is slowly getting better.
DeletePoor guy with the terrible hair. And here I thought I had the world's worst hair.
ReplyDelete$26 million is a lot of money. Imagine going in for an old fashioned robbery and walking out with that kind of bounty.
Such luck would never befall us, we'd run into the police within the bank itself.
DeleteOur luck is we'd run into the police before even entering the bank LOL
DeleteYes, at the first street corner.
