RIDLEY ROAD TV SERIES
BBC SETS CAST FOR THEIR NEW POSTWAR THRILLER DRAMA
BBC has announced a new series and newcomer Aggi O'Casey and our dear Village star Tom Varey as the leads in gripping new thriller RIDLEY
ROAD which will also air on PBS in USA. Based on a novel by Jo Bloom, it tells the story of a young Jewish woman, Vivien Epstein (Aggi O’Casey).
After falling in love with a member of the 62 Group, she rejects her comfortable middle class life in Manchester and joins the fight against fascism in London, risking everything for her beliefs and for the man she loves.
Inspired by the struggle of the coalition of Jewish men who stood up against rising neo Nazism in post war Britain, Vivien is working with them when she realises that Jack, her missing boyfriend (Tom Varey) has been badly injured. Vivien infiltrates the NSM, a neo-Nazi movement which is becoming increasingly prominent in London. As Vivien descends further into the fascist organisation her courage and loyalties are challenged. Rory Kinnear plays Colin Jordan, leader of neo Nazi movement NSM, Eddie Marsan also stars alongside Danny Hatchard, Samantha Spiro and Tracy Ann Oberman in the four part mini series!

SUPERNOVA TRAILER
SEES COLIN FIRTH AND STANLEY TUCCI AS A MARRIED COUPLE!
Supernova will hit cinemas November 27th |
In the movie which has already garnered brilliant critical praise and
will be a strong contender at the award ceremonies next year, the play
Sam and Tusker, partners of 20 years, who are travelling across England
in their old RV visiting friends, family and places from their past.
Since Tusker was diagnosed with early-onset dementia two years ago,
their time together is the most important thing they have. Harry
Macqueen both wrote and directed the film.
Ugh! The trailer alone nearly did me in. Alzheimer's is truly the devil's illness. My aunt started to lose her memory in her last month of life. She constantly thought she was talking to her parents or her long dead brothers. It was just incredibly painful to watch. I can't imagine watching your life partner slowly lose their memories :(
ReplyDeleteIt is probably horrible, and I think this movie could do a lot for the gay nation given that it is the first gay movie with two straight A list actors and without a cliche in the story.
DeleteI will definitely watch Supernova, sounds like w great movie!
ReplyDeleteIt looks so good, hope it wins all kinds of awards this season!
DeleteThese both look great, but that I cringed at early onset dementia. That’s one of my greatest fears! Imagine living in a shell of a body not knowing who, what, when? You won’t even know who you are. The worst part is, you tend to get very angry because you’re just lost, confused, and scared. I believe Robin Williams had an aggressive form of it and that’s why he committed suicide.
ReplyDeleteIt is probably even harder for those that take care of such people.
