TRAILER FOR SWISS ALPS PERIOD SET SERIES

Winter Palace already aired in Switzerland

Almost two years ago I informed you that Netflix was preparing WINTER PALACE their co production with Swiss television, an eight part French and English language period drama charting the birth of winter tourism in the Alps as conceived by a Swiss hotelier and British aristocrat in the early twentieth century. Later on I shared first images with you and forgot about it, but it seems that it aired in Switzerland last winter and then streamed on Netflix but I am not sure if it was only for Swiss users. What I do know is that SBS streamer will air it down in Australia soon and I have a trailer for it below.

 BASED ON TRUE EVENTS

it revolves around ambitious proprietor Andre Morel (Cyril Metzger), who in 1899, envisions a five-star luxury hotel that will remain open throughout winter. He convinces wealthy aristocrat Lord Fairfax (Simon Ludders) to come on board, and the two find themselves battling demanding clientele, rebellious staff and a hostile climate to make their dream a reality. Manon Clavel plays the wife of Andre. Astrid Roos stars as Lady Isobel, Henry Pettigrew as Sir Conan Doyle, Clive Standen as Lance Raney, Vincent Heneine as Chef Voclain and Axel Granberger as Marcus. Swiss stars Alix Henzelin, Antoine Basler, Gaspard Boesch, Roland Vouilloz, Serge Musy and Karim Barras also star. See the trailer below and tell us what you think.

After a successful run over at U&Alibi channel cosy crime period set series BOOKISH is getting a second season which will see Mark Gatiss return to the role of 1946. London book keeper turned investigator with Polly Walker as his wife and Connor Finch as his right hand. Joining them in the new season are Miranda Richardson, Jason Watkins, Rupert Graves to name just some of the more famous names. In the new season he will investigate the world of spiritualism, a murder of a tailor, and will spend Christmas in a German village with thieving duchess played by Richardson.

According to Deadline, Noho Film and Television have bought the rights for a TV series adaptation of Zac Hammett's SEE YOU AT THE FINISH LINE for a six figure amount. Published earlier this year, the book follows Lucas, a sharp-witted, working-class rower, and George, an American golden-boy captain, whose uneasy alliance evolves into a tender but combustible love story against the backdrop of the famous boat race between Oxford and Cambridge universities.

Back in April I told you that Netflix is preparing a new TV series adaptation of AGE OF INNOCENCE and today the streamer has announced the lead cast. Camila Morrone as Ellen Olenska, Kristine Froseth as May Welland, Ben Radcliffe as Newland Archer and Margo Martindale as Mrs. Manson-Mingott will topline the series of forbidden love in 19th century New York,  a passionate and heart-rending love triangle exploring themes of freedom, duty, identity and love in all its forms. This fresh take is true to Wharton’s novel but will speak to a new generation as we traverse the ballrooms and bedrooms of these young people, asking the question what is love — and what is lust? And should we ultimately be driven by our heads or by our hearts?

When the body of a young man is found eerily staged in the idyllic Scottish wilderness, Detective Monica Kennedy fears this is the beginning of a terrifying campaign that will strike at the heart of a rural community. As paranoia rises, suspicions and secrets are forced into the light, and the locals start to realize there is a serial killer hidden amongst them. It is an adaptation of GR Halliday’s novel From the Shadows.

Momo is out in kinos October 2nd

 Claes Bang and Barbarians star David Schutter. MOMO fantasy movie was both directed and written by Christian Ditter and is set for the release in German cinemas October 2nd and then in Russia December 4th.

story from Michael Ende, the author of legendary Never Ending Story MOMO is a new movie adaptation after the 1986 one, following Momo, an orphan girl who must do battle with the soulless and grey men who stealthily take over her city and steal time. Momo is a young orphan girl who lives in the ruins of an old Roman amphitheater and becomes friends with everybody in the neighborhood. Currently launching over at Venice Film Festival is Mark Jenkin's movie drama ROSE OF NEVADA and we have first images of Callum Turner and George MacKay in it. This science fiction mystery movie tells the story of a fishing vessel that was lost at sea 30 years ago, and mysteriously reappears in the harbour of a fishing village. A mysterious boat returns to a village thirty years after it vanished. Two men join its crew hoping for better fortune. After one voyage, they find themselves transported back in time, mistaken for the original crew. The film will also visit Toronto and New York film festivals this season.
