  IN THE SERIES 

he he plays former Oregon hotshot Russ Holliday, who made an unforgivable mistake eight years ago that cost him his entire football career. After making a massive play during a game, he showboats his way into the end zone, dropping the ball before he crosses the threshold and allowing Georgia to recover the ball and seal the win themselves. So, when he sees that South Georgia is hosting tryouts nearly a decade later, he decides to go back to college and fulfill his potential — only he’ll have to go undercover as Chad Powers, an unsuspecting college football player. The six episode series will have a two episode premiere and then air weekly. Steve Zahn also stars.

Currently launching over at Venice Film Festival is Mark Jenkin's movie drama ROSE OF NEVADA and we have first images of Callum Turner and George MacKay in it. This science fiction mystery movie tells the story of a fishing vessel that was lost at sea 30 years ago, and mysteriously reappears in the harbour of a fishing village. A mysterious boat returns to a village thirty years after it vanished. Two men join its crew hoping for better fortune. After one voyage, they find themselves transported back in time, mistaken for the original crew. The film will also visit Toronto and New York film festivals this season.

FIRST SEASON 2 EPIC SERIES PHOTOS

After a rather successful first season, Prime Video's epic Biblical series HOUSE OF DAVID was renewed for the second season which will be first available to viewers via new subscription offering Wonder Project which actually launches, according to Variety, on the streamer from October 5th with the first two episodes of season two which will later on be available for other streamers as well at some date to be announced later on. But they did release the first images from the second season. Michael Iskander returnsin the lead role of David who managed to kill the Goliath earlier this spring in the first season finale. The second season story will pick up literally the very second we leave off from the first season. The first episode of Season 2 will be in the entirety of that battle. In the second season, David becomes the warrior, and learns to be careful what you wish for. Destiny comes at a cost. Fame and success are complex things to navigate, and as this character continues his rise, all those screws of intensity and drama tighten as the truth comes closer and closer to this character and a truth that threatens to unravel everything. Ali Suliman, Ayelet Zurer, Stephen Lang, and Martyn Ford will return to season two that will follow the aftermath of the battle between David and Goliath and David’s rise to the throne. As he navigates palace politics, his family’s jealousy, and a growing romance, David steps deeper into his destiny and learns what it means to become a great leader.

UNCHAINED FROM FRANCE

I have two new international period set series for you today, starting with French series UNCHAINED (Enchaines) which will, according to Variety, be presented internationally at this year’s Unifrance Rendez-Vous in Le Havre. It is set in 1806 on Réunion Island in the Indian Ocean, where, in the wake of a deadly cyclone, Charles Bellevue’s plantation lies in ruins. Bankrupted, he’s forced to sell his lands and slaves, who fear being torn apart. Among them, Isaac refuses to accept his fate. He’s just discovered that Charles Bellevue is not merely his master but also his father. Fueled by rage and an insatiable desire for freedom, Isaac persuades Charles to keep the plantation. Impressed by his resolve, Charles appoints him as overseer. Now, Isaac must balance his newfound power with his urge to protect his people. 

 

  THE NEW FORCE FROM SWEDEN

There is also a Swedish period set drama that will be available for streaming over on Netflix from October 3rd. Titled THE NEW FORCE it is set in the year 1958, with Sweden’s first female police officers graduate, a small group of pioneers, taking a big step for gender equality but struggling to take even the smallest step themselves, as the skirts they’re forced to wear chafe like sandpaper against their thighs. They are ridiculed by the public, belittled by the media, and scorned by their colleagues. The new recruits are placed in the country’s most crime-ridden district, the Klara police district in Stockholm, and as they start patrolling the streets of Stockholm, they soon realize that their biggest problem isn’t the criminals - instead, the resistance comes from colleagues and the society as a whole.

As Rob rises as the leader of a band of rebel outlaws, Marian infiltrates the power at court, as both work together to thwart royal corruption and bring peace to the land. Sean Bean stars as Sheriff of Nottingham and Connie Nielsen as queen Eleanore of Aquitane. Tom Mison also stars as Rob's father with Graeme Thomas King as Prince John! William Bridges directed this love drama, a stirring near-futuristic romance about best friends who harbor an unspoken love for one another even after a test matches one of them up with their supposed soulmate. 

 

  THE FILM 

 is both an epic love story and an intimate portrayal of two people who struggle to express their love for one another, told over the course of a decade. As you can see in the trailer below the two of them have a very nice chemistry together. Our dear Steven Cree from Discovery of Witches also stars. We have first images from two festive movies coming to Netflix this Christmas starting with GOODBYE JUNE a directorial debut of Kate Winslet who also stars in it next to Toni Collette, Timothy Spall and Helen Mirren. It will be out December 24th with a short cinema release before that. It’s nearly Christmas when an unexpected turn in their mother’s health thrusts four adult siblings, and their exasperating father, into chaos as they navigate messy family dynamics in the face of potential loss. But their quick-witted mother, June, orchestrates her decline on her own terms – with biting humor, blunt honesty, and a lot of love.

 

 JINGLE BELL HEIST WITH CONNOR SWINDELLS

Also hitting Netflix ahead of the Holidays, November 26th is romantic festive comedy JINGLE BELL HEIST which stars Olivia Holt as Sophia, a sharp-witted retail worker, alongside Connor Swindells as Nick, a down-on-his-luck repairman. The two are small-time thieves with their eyes on the same Christmas Eve score: robbing London’s most notorious department store. Forced into an uneasy alliance, as secrets surface and feelings for each other deepen, Sophia and Nick put their relationship and the heist in jeopardy.

ITV and Australian Stan have released first trailer from their new TV series THE HACK with David Tennant, Robert Carlyle and Toby Jones in the lead roles of the show which revolves around the demise of Rupert Murdoch's News of the World, as well as the investigation and arrest of over 100 individuals, plus the subsequent Leveson Inquiry. The series is primarily given from the perspectives of investigative journalist Nick Davies (Tennant) – who helped uncover evidence of phone-hacking at the now-defunct tabloid News of the World – and Metropolitan Police detective Dave Cook (Carlyle). Cook was leading inquiries into the 1987 murder of private investigator Daniel Morgan in a pub car park, which remains unsolved to this day and has been a source of controversy and criticism towards the Met. Across a decade-long time frame, from 2002 to 2012, the series will deftly interweave these two investigations. Toby Jones plays then-Guardian editor-in-chief Alan Rusbridger and Dougray Scott also stars.See the trailer below:

Prime Video has unveiled first images from their TV series adaptation of Harlan Coben's LAZARUS  in which the story will revolve around a man who returns home after his father's suicide and begins to have disturbing experiences that can't be explained. He quickly becomes entangled in a series of cold-case murders as he grapples with the mystery of his father's death and his sister's murder 25 years ago. Our dearest Sam Claflin will lead as Laz, a well-respected forensic psychologist who has spent his whole life running from the pain of his past. It is only now when he returns home that he is forced to finally face up to it.

  BILL NIGHY WILL BE DOCTOR LAZARUS

Psychologist and father to Laz, Jenna and Sutton. A beloved figure within his community, he shares his son’s charm, dry humor, and charisma. In death, he wants his son to understand that they are more similar than Laz thinks. 

ALEXANDRA ROACH IS JENNA LAZARUS

Since her sister’s murder Jenna has buried herself in a world of spiritual practice but now when her brother returns home and starts experiencing unexplained phenomena, she is forced to confront secrets from her own past. Coming from ITV is a trailer with Sheridan Smith in their new mini TV series I FOUGHT THE LAW based on Ann Ming’s book For the Love of Julie, which tells the heart-breaking story of Ming’s 15-year-long battle for her daughter Julie’s murderer to face justice. Ming’s daughter was found in the bathroom of her house in 1990, 80 days after she had disappeared, and the man who killed her was twice acquitted following mistrials before eventually admitting to the murder. The archaic double jeopardy law meant he couldn’t be tried twice for the same crime and it is this law that Ming and her family successfully overturned. The series will hit the screens this Sunday August 31st going head to head with BBC's King and Conqueror saga.
