Well, that would be a first: as Variety reports, Antonin Baudry, Pathe and Ness Films from Paris,  are set to adapt Homer’s epic war tales of “The Iliad and The Odyssey” into a science fiction series titled ULYSSE! Antonin Baudry, who is writing the adaptation, had the idea of transposing these mythological tales in space and in the future!

The series will follow the fantasy-filled adventures of Ulysse through the 10-year Trojan Wars and beyond. ULYSSE will also involve mythological characters from “The Iliad and the Odyssey,” such as Achilles, Helen, Hector and Penelope. Baudry previously did The Wolf's Call for Netflix. This will be one of the very rare science fiction shows done in France.

Craig Parker will lead with Sean Astin

If you miss our gorgeous hunkster Craig Parker from Spartacus and Reign, he is now leading A SOCIAL CONTRACT movie with Sean Astin, his colleague from Lord of the Rings movies. In the film exploring the dynamics and social constructs of power, relationships and government, a political dinner turns deadly when a group of power-starved politicians fight for a seat of survival on a helicopter at the onset of a nuclear war. Astin will play a senator in the political thriller.

Australian hunk Lawson is the new Nana lead

Comedy updates for you today, starting with a cast change in one of the upcoming new multi camera sitcom pilots: I've informed you that ABC has ordered NANA hybrid TV comedy pilot and that it will be led by Katey Sagal and Josh Cooke, but now the male lead has been given to Ben Lawson instead Cooke because they decided to change the lead character after the first table reads.

The pilot for possible new sitcom centres on Alex (Ben Lawson), a fire chief in Indianapolis and an obsessive dad, who after the death of his wife, is forced to invite his brash and bawdy mother-in-law, Nana (Katey Sagal),  into his home to help raise the two grand daughters she barely knows. Sagal recently had a very successful sitcom gig in delightful Superior Donuts next to comedy legend Judd Hirsch.

BCDF Pictures has bought the rights on Raymond E. Feist’s epic fantasy series THE RIFTWAR SAGA and Kurt Johnstad (who wrote both 300 movies) has been hired to adapt the first novel Magician Aprentice as TV series. The saga, set in Midkemia, which has 32 novels sold in more than 20 million copies, sees the peace of the Kingdom of the Isles destroyed when mysterious invaders from another world swarm the land. A young magician’s destiny leads him through a rift in the fabric of space and time to master the powers of a strange new magic, while his warrior friend inherits a legacy of savage power from an ancient civilization.
