Radioactive hits theatres next year

Our favourite StudioCanal has released the first teaser trailer and poster for period set biopic RADIOACTIVE in which Rosamund Pike plays famous Marie Currie and Sam Riley is her husband Pierre. It premiered this week at Toronto Film Festival and will hit cinemas next year. It is a story of the scientific and romantic passions of Marie and Pierre Curie, and the reverberation of their discoveries throughout the 20th century. Coming sometime next year, the film also stars Aneurin Barnard (as famous physicist Paul Langevin)! Anya Taylor Joy is also starring in the Marjane Satrapi directed drama which is based on a graphic novel by Lauren Redniss. 

 'MIDWAY' TRAILER SENDS

A STELLAR CAST INTO BATTLE

We have seen the first trailer for this one earlier this summer and it was a rather glorious spectacle of special effects and mindblowing action, and now we have not only a new trailer for MIDWAY World War II extravaganza, but also tons of characters posters depicting all the heroes of the movie. The super stellar cast of the war drama includes Patrick Wilson, Woody Harrelson, Nick Jonas, Ed Skrein, Luke Evans, Aaron Eckhart, Tadanobu Asano, Luke Kleintank, Darren Criss, Keean Johnson, Alexander Ludwig, Mandy Moore and Dennis Quaid! The movie will land into cinemas at the beginning of November ahead of the awards season.

 The Battle Of Midway
Directed by the king of disaster and action movies Roland Emmerich, the movie describes the infamous and crucial Battle of Midway. The clash between the American fleet and the Imperial Japanese Navy marked a pivotal turning point in the Pacific Theatre during the Second World War right after the disaster that happened at Pearl Harbour. The movie is based on the real  life events and focuses on the story of the leaders and soldiers who used their skills, fortitude and instincts to overcome the odds that were heavily stacked against them. Earlier this winter I informed you that Rosamund Pike will play Marie Curie in the biopic titled RADIOACTIVE and now 'Deadline' reports that Sam Riley, Aneurin Barnard, Miniaturist star Anya Taylor Joy and Simon Russell Beale have joined the cast too!

RADIO ACTIVE will follow the Nobel Prize winner Curie when she meets fellow scientist Pierre Curie (Sam Riley) in 1893. The pair go on to marry, raise two daughters and change the face of science forever by jointly winning the Nobel for the discovery of radium in 1903. Adapted by Ian McEwan from his best selling novel, the drama centres on a young couple (Saoirse Ronan and Billy Howle) of drastically different backgrounds in the summer of 1962. Following the pair through their idyllic courtship, the film explores sex and the societal pressure that can accompany physical intimacy, leading to an awkward and fateful wedding night. In their tradition of adapting classic books into mini series BBC has already announced the new adaptation of E. M. Forster's HOWARD'S END but now we have the cast as well: Matthew MacFadyen, brilliant comedian Tracey Ullman and flop star Hayley Atwell have been hired!

To air on BBC One in UK and on Starz in USA, the four part series explores the changing landscape of social and class divisions in England at the turn of the century through the prism of three families: the intellectual and idealistic Schlegels, the wealthy Wilcoxes from the world of business and the working-class Basts. Hayley Atwell will be Margaret Schlegel, Matthew Macfadyen will be widower Henry Wilcox, and Tracey Ullman will play Aunt Juley Mund.

'RADIOACTIVE' MOVIE

Speaking of the turn of the century, 'Deadline' reports that Marjane Satrapi will helm RADIOACTIVE, a movie adaptation of Lauren Redniss graphic novel on famous scientist Marie Curie, the Nobel Prize winner, and her extraordinary scientific discoveries through the prism of her marriage to husband Pierre, and the seismic effects their discovery of radium had on the 20th century.

Born in Poland in 1867, Curie moved to France in 1891 and married Pierre in 1895. They worked together to develop the theory of radioactivity and techniques for isolating radioactive isotopes and discovered the elements polonium and radium. The pair were at the dawn of a new scientific and technological era that ushered in the nuclear age.

There's also a touching first trailer and colourful poster for British drama movie MAUDIE which, starring Sally Hawkins and Ethan Hawke, which opens up in cinemas this spring and summer following  an arthritic Nova Scotia woman who works as a housekeeper while she hones her skills as an artist and eventually becomes a beloved figure in the community.
