'A FORTUNATE MAN'
FROM DIRECTOR BILLE AUGUST
We continue with our international weekend with a film that was already released in some parts of the world, and is playing at certain film festivals
currently in USA. Directed by Bille August (House of the Spirits), Danish historical drama A FORTUNATE MAN is based on a novel from 1917 Nobel Prize winner Henrik Pontoppidan. The film is airing at Netflix in English!

In the late 19th century, Peter Sidenius (Esben Smed) is an ambitious
young man from a devout Christian family in Western Denmark, who
travels to the Danish capital of Copenhagen to study engineering,
rebelling against his clergyman father. He comes into contact with the
intellectual circles of a wealthy, Jewish family and seduces the elder
daughter, Jakobe. Per, as he now calls himself, conceives a large-scale
engineering project including the
construction of a series of canals in
his native Jutland, and lobbies for its construction. But just as Per
seems to be about to make his dreams come true, his pride stands in the
way.
Danish star Esben Smed plays the lead role in the film |

DeletePride is one of those things that can really mess a person over. As Tim McGraw says, always stay humble and kind. Though, I have a lot of respect for those who buck their parents ideas and set their own path to achieve their own goals.
ReplyDeleteLook at her quoting country singers :) Dolly Parton once said - if you can't find a way in your life, make your own way.
DeleteDolly is a wise woman!
