Bille August will direct the new series

After scoring a global success with Sam Claflin's Count of Monte Cristo series which hits PBS in USA next month, Oscar winning director Bille August will, according to Variety, produce an epic series on JULIUS CAESAR. This epic new series will explore the story of a great leader intoxicated by power, uncovering the deep psychological complexities ultimately leading from the most epic feats to his downfall. Greg Latter is penning the scripts for Mediawan's Palomar who did Monte Cristo as well. Shooting of the new historical series is predicted to start sometime at the beginning of next year.

Your spy was among the first ones to show you first set pictures from Sam Claflin's new THE COUNT OF MONTE CRISTO eight part series and now we have news that Bille August will direct it and that the cast will also include Blake Ritson, Ana Girardot, Mikkel Boe Følsgaard, Karla-Simone Spence, Michele Riondino, Lino Guanciale, Gabriella Pession and Nicolas Maupas. Mediawan's English language series is being shot for France TV and Italian RAI till December! 

 

IN THE SERIES CLAFLIN STARS

as Edmond Dantes, a nineteen-year-old sailor who was falsely accused of treason and is imprisoned without trial in the Château d’If, a grim island fortress off Marseille. After many years of captivity he finally escapes and, under the identity of the Count of Monte Cristo, he plans to take revenge on those who have wrongly accused him.

Channel 4 has released first images from their new mini series THE COUPLE NEXT DOOR which arrives to the British channel this Autumn with Sam Heughan in the lead role. The series that will air on Starz in USA and Lionsgate + streamer, is a deliciously dark, psychological drama, exploring the claustrophobia of suburbia and the fallout of chasing your deepest desires. The six part series looks at how we never know what goes on behind closed doors. When Evie (Eleanor Tomlinson) and Pete (Alfred Enoch) move into an upscale neighbourhood, they find themselves in a world of curtain twitching and status anxiety. But soon find friendship in the shape of the couple next door, alpha traffic cop Danny (Sam Heughan) and his wife, glamorous yoga instructor Becka (Jessica De Gouw). As time goes on, these two couples get increasingly close to each other and one fateful night, become sexually entangled in a way that will change their lives forever! We have announced this one years ago when it was revealed that the queen of Denmark will be creating costumes for it (which is funny given that the costumes look horrible and ridiculously ugly in the trailer as if they were done by an amateur), but now we have first trailer from EHRENGARD: THE ART OF SEDUCTION movie from Bille August. Based on a Karen Blixen book the film will star Sidse Babett Knudsen, Mikkel Boe Følsgaard, Alice Bier Zandén and Emilie Kroyer Koppel, and will launch globally on Netflix September 9th! of Babenhausen, a young, self-appointed expert on love, Mr. Cazotte (Mikkel Boe Følsgaard), is hired by the scheming Grand Duchess (Sidse Barbett Knudsen) to help her secure an heir. While searching for a suitable future Princess, Mr Cazotte teaches the timid and introverted Crown Prince Lothar(Emil Aron Dorph) the art of seduction and lovemaking. But their plan soon backfires, when an heir is conceived out of wedlock and the royal family has to seek refuge in the castle of Rosenbad. Here, as rivals within the royal family close in on their scheme, Cazotte himself falls in love with Ehrengard (Alice Esther Bier Zandén), the maid of honor, and gradually learns that in fact, he’s no expert on love at all.

After Karen Blixen biopic The Pact, Bille August has prepared new period  set movie THE KISS and today we have the first trailer from it.  THE KISS , out in Denmark next February, is epic romance set in 1913 Denmark, on the eve of the First World War, following a noble young man training to be a cavalry officer. He meets a baron’s daughter, a beautiful young woman in a wheelchair following a tragic accident, and can’t figure out if his growing feelings for her are out of true love or pity. Based on Stefan Zweig novel it stars out dear Esben Smed, Clara Rosager, David Dencik, Lars Mikkelsen and Rosalinde Mynster!

  THE LAND OF DREAMS directed and written by Nicola Abattangelo, sees Katsiaryna Shulha playing  a young immigrant named Eva living in New York during the 1920s who dreams of becoming a singer and falls for a pianist with an active imagination. Beside George Blagden, the movie also stars Kevin Guthrie, who was wonderful in The English Game series but then got himself locked up in jail, sadly. Although produced by Italy, this is an English language movie shot in Bulgaria with international cast.
