We have announced this one years ago when it was announced that the queen of Denmark will be creating costumes for it, but now we have first images from EHRENGARD: THE ART OF SEDUCTION movie from Bille August. Based on a Karen Blixen book the film will star Sidse Babett Knudsen, Mikkel Boe Følsgaard, Alice Bier Zandén and Emilie Kroyer Koppel, and will launch globally on Netflix this year. 

 

IN THE FAIRYTALE KINGDOM

of Babenhausen, a young, self-appointed expert on love, Mr. Cazotte (Mikkel Boe Følsgaard), is hired by the scheming Grand Duchess (Sidse Barbett Knudsen) to help her secure an heir. While searching for a suitable future Princess, Mr Cazotte teaches the timid and introverted Crown Prince Lothar (Emil Aron Dorph) the art of seduction and lovemaking. But their plan soon backfires, when an heir is conceived out of wedlock and the royal family has to seek refuge in the castle of Rosenbad. Here, as rivals within the royal family close in on their scheme, Cazotte himself falls in love with Ehrengard (Alice Esther Bier Zandén), the maid of honor, and gradually learns that in fact, he’s no expert on love at all.

because her book Ehrengard will be turned into a movie, but now we have news that after Meryl Streep who played her in Out of Africa, now Connie Nielsen will play Karen Blixen in six part mini TV series THE DREAMER - BECOMING KAREN BLIXEN for Nordic streamer Viaplay. The series which has been shot already and is now, as Screen Daily reports, in post production, has the story set in the 1930s, and follows the author’s return to Denmark after many years in East Africa. Penniless, sick and divorced, the series depicts her journey from this point to becoming a renowned writer. The series will air next year and will be sold internationally as well.

Over in Denmark, we have a biopic of another famous writer: THE PACT, which already played in domestic cinemas, was directed by Bille August.  Aged 63 Karen Blixen (Birthe Neumann), the author of Out of Africa, is at the pinnacle of her fame and next in line to win the Nobel Prize for literature. It has been 17 years since she gave up her famous African adventure only to return to Denmark in ruins. Devastated by syphilis and having lost the love of her life she has reinvented herself as a literary sensation. She is an isolated genius, however, until the day she lays eyes on a handsome 30 year old poet (Simon Bennebjerg). She promises him literary stardom if he in return will obey her

unconditionally - even at the cost of him losing everything else in his life. The film is a heart-wrenching story of a sorcerer and her apprentice, about how far you will go for love and art.
