Iliza Shlesinger will lead HalfWay There
A slate of new multicam sitcoms ordered by CBS: Iliza Shlesinger will star in HALFWAY THERE, which she also wrote, as a comic who prides herself on “guiding women” in her act. She is forced to put that to practical use when her half-sister moves in with her! CBS has also ordered a pilot for a comedy series from Crazy Rich Asians author Kevin Kwan THE EMPEROR OF MALIBU about two very different families, one from Shanghai with new money and one from the U.S. East Coast with old money, who learn to co-exist when their children get married.
They also bought a Gail Berman multicam THE FOLKS which tells what happens when a momma’s boy marries a daddy’s girl, and their respective parents can’t let go. SIBLINGS multicam is also in development from Ranch and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia producers, which centres on two very different siblings who decide to live together and raise their kids
Patricia Heaton is returning to sitcoms in Carol's 2nd Act
after one of them gets divorced. Meanwhile, The Middle star Patricia Heaton will both topline and produce CBS new multicam sitcom CAROL'S SECOND ACT playing a woman who after raising her two children and retiring from teaching, embarks on a unique second act: she’s going to become a doctor. They're also doing a sitcom LIFE LESSONS from Eric Christian Olsen about a guy who is a professional failure at life and finds advice and friendship in the most unlikely of places… a class of first graders. Meanwhile, Superior Donuts star Jermaine Fowler will do another comedy for them: QUINTA & JERMAINE in which he and Quinta Brunson will star as childhood best friends who find themselves expecting a child while navigating adulthood.

  1. CBS ordered sitcoms...I wish I could write one; they probably pay well.
Lucky girl Iliza Shlesinger. Not only is she a leading comedian, she can also write comedies.
She and her husband are jewish; her hubby's name is Noah Galuten (gluten, perhaps ??).

The trailer of "Becoming Astrid"- very strong, especially the part with the pregnancy and baby-child.

    1. They often have writing rooms in which the writers gather and write scripts for sitcoms together, imagine the fun they have!

  2. I was never a fan of the rather annoying Pippi Longstockings, but "Becoming Astrid" might be an okay movie.

    1. fully agreed, although I must admit the lead actress did not impress me at all in this trailer.

  3. Hopefully some of the sitcoms stick. Seems many get the axe before they even have time to gain a following these days.

    1. not this year, Neighbourhood has got more episode ordered, Conners one more episode (hopefully the last one) only Rel and that Happy Together could get axed. Cool Kids are doing more than fine as LMS follow up programme so they are getting full season too. Murphy Brown and Will and Grace are, though, hitting deep lows.

    2. I'm glad to hear Murphy Brown is doing poorly. Ever since having that witch Hillary guest star, they deserve to go into the toilet.

    3. it is such a massive flop of a flop! Especially since, unlike LMS it airs during the week so it can't really use Friday Night Graveyard as an excuse.

  4. I used to have a crush on Pippi Longstockings.
