  1. The famine of 1847 must have been a very traumatic period in the life of the irish people.
I think 'Black 47' is a must-see movie, as we might , God Forbid, also experience famine. If we look around us we see climate change and population explosion - two things that could easily lead to severe food shortage and famine.

    1. The most disgusting thing is that Britain did not want to help them at all.
We had a sort of famine during wars, bombings and especially during US embargo on my country at the beginning of the 90's. We did not have basic things like flour, sugar, oil etc. No petrol of course, either. But this Irish famine was terrible, especially since I'm guessing laws prevented them from hunting or having their own farms.

  2. All 3 sound good in their own right. I agree with Duta. Thinking about overpopulation and climate change, and our never ending thirst for war, a famine is quite possible. While I'm not the best at gardening yet, I'm trying to work out the kinks so I can eventually get my garden big enough to start canning our own food so I don't have to rely on the government should a famine hit, or another Great Depression. Jason thinks one of our neighbors is crazy because she has a year supply of food for her family of 8 in her basement at all times. But should shit hit the fan, we'll all wish we followed in her footsteps.

    1. Famine already rules certain parts of the world, sadly.
Learning gardening is always a smart thing, we shall need you when apocalypse comes, you will be our agricultural expert :) I wish we could grow food too, but our yard is freaking sandy :(
Trust me, supplies are good. You know we were without food many times throughout my life during wars, embargos, bombings... and in such times having sacks of rice and grain and tons of cans and seeds is a lifesaver. Sadly, my biggest supplies never surpass a few cans of beans and corn LOL I'll die first when chaos comes a knocking :)
