One of the projects that has been cooking slowly for years now is rounding up its cast: The Weinstein Company's period drama TULIP FEVER has just added a legend and a hunk into its ensemble. Her Cinematic Majesty Judi Dench (who recently swept tones of awards for her outstanding role in PHILOMENA, another of Weinstein's brilliant dramas) and GLEE's Matthew Morrison have joined the movie in which Dane DeHaan and Alicia Vikander are playing the lead roles. Set in the 17th century the story follows a romance in which an artist falls for a married young woman while he's commissioned to paint her portrait. The two invest in the risky tulip market in hopes to build a future together.

STELLAR CAST FOR THE $25 MILLION DRAMA
In the Justin Chadwick (THE OTHER BOLEYN GIRL) directed movie, Judi Dench will portray the Abbess of St. Ursula’s, a rescuer of orphan children. Matthew Morrison will appear as drunken bohemian artist Mattheus, Cara Delevingne (ANNA KARENINA) as artists’ model Annetje, and Cressida Bonas as Mrs. Steen, a merchant’s young wife. Jack O’Connell, Holliday Grainger, Christoph Waltz and Zach Galifianakis are already in the cast. The $25 million worth historical drama is a big screen adaptation of the popular novel by Deborah Moggach!

After SLEEPY HOLLOW and TURN have made American history trendy again as a topic for TV shows, History is venturing into those waters too by ordering six part mini series SONS OF LIBERTY which will deal with the founding of the United States coming from 'A+E Studios' and 'Stephen David Entertainment' (The World Wars). BBC and HBO have revealed the lineup of actors which will appear in their small screen three episode adaptation of J.K. Rowling's popular novel THE CASUAL VACANCY which centres on Pagford, a seemingly idyllic English village with a cobbled market square and ancient abbey. Behind the pretty façade, however, is a town at war: rich vs. poor, teenagers vs. parents, wives vs. husbands, teachers vs. pupils. 'Deadline' writes that Kevin Alejandro (TRUE BLOOD) will play the town’s authoritative but accessible Sheriff. Mark Pellegrino (LOST) will also star with Sophie Lowe from ONCE UPON A TIME IN WONDERLAND playing his daughter who comes back after she had died in a car accident with her teen twin sister. Mat Vairo (REVOLUTION) will be one of the returned, a musician who comes back 10 years after his death.

Speaking of epic, another one of those historical action movies is currently showing in US cinemas. AGE OF UPRISING: THE LEGEND OF MICHAEL KOHLHAAS is adaptation of Heinrich von Kleist's 16th century novella which is considered one of the first examples of modern literature. Mads Mikkelsen plays the lead role of the 16th century horse dealer by the name of Michael Kohlhaas who leads a happy and prosperous family life. When a lord treats him unjustly, this pious, upstanding man raises an army and puts the country to fire and sword in order to have his rights restored.

The book, which actually comes out today, follows a female Los Angeles TV news reporter who  is searching for the Good Samaritan (Good Sam) who is anonymously leaving $100,000 cash on strangers’ front porches throughout the city!
PETER FONDA JOINS 'GALYN- TINE'
In other TV news, Peter Fonda has joined AMC's GALYNTINE TV show from Ridley Scott and THE WALKING DEAD's Greg Nicotero. Set in a futuristic post-apocalyptic world where technology has been rejected, leading survivors to form factions, the show will see Fonda playing a surly handyman who finds himself on the outs with the group of survivors who he once led.

Speaking of Benedict  Cumberbatch, I've informed you before that BBC will finish their epic series of television projects based on William Shakespeare's works with historical mini series RICHARD III in which he will play the lead role (the above mentioned Tom Hiddleston played already in THE HOLLOW CROWN series as Henry V, while Eddie Redmayne played RICHARD II in a theatre play). Now there are rumours that Her Cinematic Highness Judi Dench might play Queen Margaret from the House of Lancaster, the wife of Richard's rival Henry VI! RICHARD III depicts the Machiavellian rise to power and subsequent short reign of Richard III of England! He is described as an evil and ugly hunchback in Shakespeare's play.

One of the interesting movie news that marked this weekend was definitely about Ben Foster revealing some details on the character he plays in the 2016 upcoming epic fantasy adventure WARCRAFT! We already knew that the cast of the big screen movie adaptation of the famous video game will include, beside Ben, Anson Mount, Travis Fimmel, Colin Farrell, Anton Yelchin, Paula Paton, Toby Kebbell and Dominic Cooper, but we don't know which characters they'll play in the story set in a rich fantasy universe in which the epic conflict is lead between the opposing forces of the Horde and the Alliance. Speaking of historical series, History will develop new historical mini series. After VIKINGS and BONNIE AND CLYDE they will now make a four episode live action event series on KNIGHTS TEMPLAR! Tracking the origins of the mystic medieval Christian order known as Knights Templar it will be written by Oscar nominated scribe Keir Pearson (HOTEL RWANDA)! It will follow the true story of three brothers, all knights, during the first Crusade, as they make the long journey through the Holy Lands to recapture Jerusalem, ultimately bringing rise to the Knights Templar. Craig Zadan and Neil Meron, famous for producing Oscar ceremonies, will produce the series.

 REBOOT 'STARGATE' INTO SF MOVIE TRILOGY
Now here are good news from the science fiction front: you already know that one of the most legendary sf films ever STARGATE is getting a remake, but now the official info is that MGM, Warner Bros. and original director Roland Emmerich will team together to reboot the movie in a form of a trilogy! Planned for 2017 the new STARGATE will bring new adventures to the expansive universe which also served as the inspiration for STARGATE TV shows later on. As you know, the story centres around a monumental gate which serves as the portal to other worlds and dimensions inhabited by exotic cultures. The 1994. movie was set in an Ancient Egypt inspired world.

New trailer for a rather extraordinary and unusual fantasy drama THE CONGRESS has been released! Coming from the award winning director of WALTZ WITH BASHIR Ari Folman the movie should arrive to US and UK cinemas this summer. Robin Wright plays  an ageing, out-of-work, actress who accepts one last job, though the consequences of her decision affect her in ways she didn't consider. The cast of THE CONGRESS also includes Jon Hamm, Harvey Keitel, Paul Giamatti, Kodi Smith McPhee, Danny Huston! The movie mixes live action and animated scenes.
