After the end of the successful first season of Victoria epic series, ITV is looking to secure their rule in the Sunday evening prime time slot with another period set drama that starts its launch this Sunday! The four part epic adventure mini series  TUTAN KHAMUN with Sam Neill and Max Irons, directed by our dear Peter Webber (Girl With the Pearl Earring),  is written by leading screenwriter Guy Burt (Jekyll and Hyde, The Borgias) and will focus on the legendary personal story of Howard Carter, a solitary man on the edge of society who became an iconic figure and an unlikely hero. Waleed Elgadi and Amy Wren also star.

 DIGGING UP THE PHARAOH! 
Set against the great sweep of ochre sands, looming cliffs and baking heat of Egypt’s Valley of the Kings, the story unfolds from 1905 when Carter (Max Irons), an eminent British archaeologist who we meet in his early 20’s, is fervently leading an expedition. Amidst the chaos scattered across the Valley floor, Carter’s grim determination to find lost antiquities is only too apparent. He has an easy manner with the Egyptian men who work alongside him, but when tempers fray Carter is hotheaded and puts the dig and his career in jeopardy. The disgraced Carter's career takes an upswing when he's hired by an eccentric aristocrat Lord Carnarvon (Sam Neill) to search for the famous tomb of pharaoh TUTANKHAMUN in the 1920s. After years of searching for the tomb, Carter and Carnarvon successfully discover the last resting place of the boy-king in 1921 against all odds and at great personal expense.

QUEEN 'VICTORIA' EPIC SERIES

Earlier this year I've announced that British ITV will prepare a new TV series on queen Victoria titled simply VICTORIA and now it has been confirmed that Jenna Coleman is to take the crown and play the lead role of the infamous enslaver and invader. The actress will leave DR WHO for this gig. The eight part historical series will revolve around the early life of the British monarch, from her ascension to the throne to her marriage to Prince Albert. The first episode, directed by Tom Vaughan, will be 90 minutes long! Since the filming starts next month in Northern England, expect new cast names announced here as we get the info! The series comes from POLDARK team.

BRYAN SINGER TO HELM

20,000 LEAGUES UNDER THE SEA
Here's something for all of you fans of adventure movies: X-MEN's Bryan Singer, who has, believe it or not, just turned 50 yesterday, has announced that his next movie project will be the big screen adaptation of Jules Verne's 20,000 LEAGUES UNDER THE SEA! He has already finished the script saying he has wanted to retell jt since childhood and promising that it will be an epic and emotional adventure for all ages! As you know, famous classic follows brave Captain Nemo and his mighty submarine Nautilus on their underwater adventures. Singer's X MEN: APOCALYPSE is ready to hit cinemas in May next year.

Speaking of ITV's historical series, another one I've recently announced, epic adventure TUTAN- KHAMUN has cast Max Irons and Sam Neill under Peter Webber's helm! Max Irons will play Howard Carter who became an iconic figure and an unlikely hero. The story unfolds from 1905 when Carter, an eminent British archaeologist, is leading an expedition only to have his license to dig revoked by Cairo’s Antiquities Service. Carter spends years living rough and resorting to selling previously discovered archaeological relics. A chance meeting with British aristocrat eccentric Lord Carnarvon (Sam Neill), brings a change of fortunes as the enthusiastic amateur needs an experienced archaeologist to help him with a series of random excavations. Carter and Carnarvon begin the most unlikely friendship, in spite of their differences of background and character. After years of searching for the tomb, Carter and Carnarvon successfully discover the last resting place of the boy-king TUTANKHMAUN in 1921 against all odds and at great personal expense.

ON THE DISCOVERY OF HIS TOMB

While we are anxiously awaiting to see the premiere of TUT three part mini series at Spike on July 19th, over across the ocean, British ITV has announced the work on four part mini series TUTANKHAMUN, but unlike TUT, which deals with the Pharaoh himself, this one will bring the true story of how Howard Carter came to discover the tomb of Ancient Egypt's boy-king. The story will begin in 1905 as he leads an expedition to find lost treasures in Egypt's Valley of the Kings. However, he finds himself living rough when his license to dig is revoked, and he is forced to sell his previous finds in order to survive. An unlikely friendship with a British aristocrat named Lord Carnavon brings Carter back to archaeology, and helps him make one of the most significant discoveries of the modern age. Peter Webber (GIRL WITH A PEARL EARING) is directing!

SPEND '90 MINUTES IN HEAVEN'
Giving Films have sent us the first trailer and poster for new movie drama 90 MINUTES IN HEAVEN from which all of the profits will be given to charities after it premieres in cinemas September 11th! Don Piper (Hayden Christensen) died in 1989, when a truck crushed his car. Declared dead by the first rescue workers to arrive on the scene, Don’s body lay under a tarp for the next 90 minutes. Don’s soul, meanwhile, was experiencing love, joy and life like he’d never known before. Don was in Heaven. When another pastor’s prayers helped bring Don back to life, he became a living miracle! Yet this is one miracle Don wished never happened. Heaven’s bliss was replaced by excruciating pain and emotional turmoil. With the support of his beloved Eva (Kate Bosworth), their three kids and friends near and far, Don fights to regain a semblance of his previous life.

 'THE FINEST HOURS' TRAILER

The second trailer for today is for another touching drama, Chris Pine's sea disaster movie THE FINEST HOUR which Disney will release next January.  In February of 1952, one of the worst storms to ever hit the East Coast struck New England, damaging an oil tanker off the coast of Cape Cod and literally ripping it in half. On a small lifeboat faced with frigid temperatures and 70-foot high waves, four members of the Coast Guard set out to rescue the more than 30 stranded sailors trapped aboard the rapidly-sinking vessel. Eric Bana, Ben Foster, Holliday Grainger, Graham McTavish and Cassey Affleck are also in the star studded cast!
