I told you that CBS has ordered a pilot for an unusual period set costume multicamera sitcom REGENCY and now they have revealed that Rhys Darby will take the lead in the comedy series that will be set in early 19th century and follow the upper middle class Tillbrooks as they navigate life, love, and scandal in 19th century England. Darby will lead the series as Arthur Tillbrook, head of the family home, Hartford Park. Arthur is heir to a vast cheese empire but prefers to think of himself as a “guy’s guy.” He will go to great lengths to prove his masculinity, though his privileged upbringing reveals itself every time. This new costume multicamera sitcom is being prepared for the 2026/2027 new television season, which means we will know its destiny this summer - whether it will air in Autumn or Mid Season or not air at all.

Well, it will be the first of its kind: CBS has ordered a pilot for first ever period set multicamera sitcom REGENCY from Tara Fernandez (Big Bang Theory, Young Sheldon). A historical spin on the classic multi-cam family sitcom, it will be centered around the upper-middle class Tillbrooks as they navigate life, love, and scandal in 19th Century England. The comedy will be in consideration for the 2026/2027 TV season. Regency period lasted from 1811 till 1820.

Over at Hulu out today is their new multicam sitcom from Will & Grace creators titled MID-CENTURY MODERN about three best friends, gay gentlemen of a certain age, played by Matt Bomer, Nathan Lane and Nathan Lee Graham, who, after an unexpected death, decide to spend their golden years living together in Palm Springs where the wealthiest one lives with his mother and a naked Gen Z housekeeper. As a chosen family, they prove that no matter how hard things get, there’s always someone around to remind you it would be better if you got your neck done! Linda Lavin, who recently died, is Bunny’s mother, Sybil whose strengths are her weaknesses: wise, caring, and iconoclastic, which sometimes means she’s critical, smothering and amoral!

According to Deadline, Fox has set Brooke Shields and David Spade as leads in their new multi camera sitcom ALMOST PARADISE from Danny Zuker. New comedy series is described as The Blue Lagoon meets Gilligan’s Island. Just your everyday, normal married couple facing all the everyday, normal challenges of being stranded on a desert Island for decades. Think Blue Lagoon, the family sitcom. Fox has apparently ordered scripts for two episodes. Shields previously led Suddenly Susan multicam.

Now a latter-day saint in the literal sense of the term, Jerry is pure of heart. He is also hard of body and soft of head. Nathan Lee Graham is Arthur, a dignified, elegant, fashion industry veteran who believes that life will never quite match the grace and panache that would exist if only he were in charge. Nick, Matt’s son and Riley’s game coder younger brother, will not be part of the series and will be replaced by the character of Gabriel.
