TV SERIES RELEASE DATE ANNOUNCED

BBC has released the first trailer for new ten part period drama THE OTHER BENNET SISTER based on Janice Hadlow’s novel. In the UK the series will air two episodes a week each Sunday from 15th of March while BritBox will premiere the series exclusively in the US and Canada a bit later on to be precise - on the 6th of May. 

THIS NEW COSTUME TV SERIES

reimagines the world of Pride and Prejudice through the eyes of Mary Bennet - the oft-overlooked middle sister - bringing a fresh perspective to Jane Austen’s iconic story as Mary steps out of the shadows and into her own life. Starring Ella Bruccoleri as Mary Bennet, the series begins at Longbourn, where the Bennet family’s five unmarried daughters navigate the rigid expectations of Regency society. Her journey sees her leave her family home for the soirées of Regency London and the peaks and vales of the Lake District, all in search of independence, self-love, and reinvention. We follow Mary as she steps out of her sisters’ shadows in search of her own identity and purpose, finding herself in the middle of an epic love story along the way. Iconic settings from Pride and Prejudice include the Meryton Assembly Ball and the Netherfield Ball, where fortunes and futures are decided under glittering chandeliers. Richard E. Grant and Ruth Jones play her parents, with Indira Varma and Richard Coyle set as Mr and Mrs Gardiner, Mary’s worldly aunt and uncle. The Gardiners take Mary under their  wing as governess to their three children, Marianne (Roisin Bhalla), George (Reggie Absolom), and Rebecca (Jasmine Sharp), introducing her to a  new social world that includes Mr Hayward (Donal Finn), Mr Ryder (Laurie Davidson), and Ann Baxter (Varada Sethu). Richard E. Grant and Ruth Jonesplay her parents, with Indira Varma and Richard Coyle set as Mr and Mrs Gardiner, Mary’s worldly aunt and uncle. The Gardiners take Mary under their wing as governess to their three children, Marianne (Roisin Bhalla), George (Reggie Absolom), and Rebecca (Jasmine Sharp), introducing her to a new social world that includes Mr Hayward (Donal Finn), Mr Ryder (Laurie Davidson), and Ann Baxter (Varada Sethu). It will have ten half hour episodes and will air sometime in March this year on BBC One in United Kingdom and on BritBox over in Northern America. HBO continues with the production of the second season of their sf series DUNE PROPHECY and they have just added Tom Hollander, Ashley Walters and Indira Varma to the cast led by Emily Watson, Olivia Williams and Travis Fimmel. Based on Frank Herbert's famous books, and set 10,000 years before the ascension of Paul Atreides, the series follows two Harkonnen sisters as they combat forces that threaten the future of humankind, and establish the fabled sect that will become known as the Bene Gesserit. The eight episode season two is being shot in Spain, Jordan and Hungary.

 THE STORY SET IN 

 fictional Scottish village of Coldwater, sees Lincoln playing John, a repressed, depressed man who is shocked to find himself in middle age, secretly raging at his life as a stay-at-home dad. When his failure to intervene in a violent confrontation in a playground brings his identity crisis to a head, John ups and moves his family to the rural idyll of Coldwater, as far away from London as possible. Upon arrival, John is quickly befriended by his charming, confident next-door neighbour Tommy (Ewen Bremner), a devoted husband to the local vicar Rebecca (Eve Myles). He is a man of faith, a pillar of the community and self-appointed leader of the village’s all-male book group. John is both impressed and  fascinated by Tommy. His wife Fiona (Indira Varma) despises him. Fiona saw the move to Coldwater as an opportunity to leave the past behind them and reignite the spark in their fading marriage. When her husband’s relationship with their enigmatic new neighbour becomes increasingly intense, Fiona’s suspicions are aroused. She is unconvinced Tommy is all he seems to be. When John’s long-repressed rage comes to a head with disastrous results, he soon finds himself unexpectedly indebted to his new friend, unaware that Tommy himself is harbouring horrifying secrets. It’s only after a series of unsettling incidents start to occur that John begins to wonder who the real Tommy actually is. It will air on Showtime in USA next year.

With the October 11th streaming date slowly approaching as we head towards the last month of summer, Apple TV + has published some new images from Cate Blanchett's new series DISCLAIMER which was directed, written and produced by Oscar winner Alfonso Cuaron and also stars Kevin Kline based on a book by Renee Knight. Gemma Jones, Lesley Manville, Indira Varma, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Louis Partridge, Leila George also star in the series that will premiere at Venice Film Festival. The series will then premiere in October with two episodes and will stream the rest of the seven episodes weekly.

When her husband’s relationship with their enigmatic new neighbour becomes increasingly intense, Fiona’s suspicions are aroused. She is unconvinced Tommy is all he seems to be.  Eve Myles will also star in the new drama.

  THE NEW SERIES FOLLOWS

Archery Pictures has acquired movie rights to Sarah Underwood's best selling novel LIES WE SING TO THE SEA. Ripley Parker has been set to adapt it. This magical coming-of-age novel is set in Ancient Greece and is inspired by the myth of Penelope’s hanged maids. In the cursed kingdom of Ithaca, each spring brings the hanging of twelve young women, a tithe to the vengeful Poseidon. But when Leto awakens from her death on the shore of a magical island, its enigmatic keeper Melantho tells her that she has been chosen by the Gods to break Ithaca’s curse. Leto must return home and kill the prince.
