Beside the cancellation and renewal TV news today (the happiest one is that ABC has ordered Tim Allen's LAST MAN STANDING for a sixth season, while over in UK the sad news is that JERICHO, HOME FIRES and INDIAN SUMMERS epic dramas have been officially killed of, and in USA NASHVILLE, AGENT CARTER, GALAVANT, THE MUPPETS, CASTLE at ABC, GRINDER, GRANDFATHERED at Fox, CONTAINMENT at CW have all been cancelled and CW is also taking over SUPERGIRL from CBS), ABC has also revealed the first teasers for series that they've ordered for whole seasons:

'TIME AFTER TIME'

It follows famed science fiction writer H.G. Wells (Freddie Stroma) who gets transported to modern day Manhattan in pursuit of Jack the Ripper (Josh Bowman). Once H.G. arrives in New York City, he finds a world he never thought possible and a young woman who captivates him!

'STILL STAR CROSSED'

 In which Romeo and Juliet are dead but we continue to follow the war between the Capulets and the Montagues! It is charting the treachery, palace intrigue and ill-fated romances of the Montagues and Capulets in the wake of the young lovers’ tragic fate. Wade Briggs, Torrance Coombs, Grant Bowler star. 

JENNA ELFMAN'S 'IMAGINARY MARY'
 It centres on Alice (Jenna Elfman), a fiercely independent career woman whose life is turned upside-down when she meets the love of her life – a divorced father with three kids. This triggers even more upheaval when the slightly unhinged imaginary friend she created as a child suddenly reappears to help her navigate the transition from single girl to a woman ready for a family.

 In latest news we hear that sadly NBC has cancelled their best sitcom ever UNDATEABLE after three magnificent seasons. They've also cancelled Eva Longoria's TELENOVELA.

'INDIAN SUMMERS' SEASON TWO

As the highlight of our British TV week, in which I presented you with a number of brilliant trailers for upcoming new English dramas, today you can enjoy our premium spotlight on the second season of period set series INDIAN SUMMERS which will air on Channel 4 from March 13th and later this year at PBS in USA too! Channel 4's most watched series in ten years, which is planned for a five season run, charts two families living in Simla during the last days of the British Raj, a period when tensions are running high as the nation strives for independence from their colonial rulers. Series two will again consist of 10 episodes set in the summer of 1935, several years after the events of the first series, as the Indian nationalist movement gains traction.

BLAKE RITSON AND RACHEL GRIFFITHS JOIN JULIE WALTERS
Rachel Griffiths, Blake Ritson, Art Malik and James Fleet join Julie Walters in the second series. Summer of 1935 – a season where  old allegiances will be broken and new ones forged, where unbridled passions run wild and where revolution hangs heavy in the air. An assassination attempt on the Viceroy Lord Willingdon (Patrick Malahide), and the surprise arrival of Lord Hawthorne (James Fleet), puts Ralph’s (Henry Lloyd-Hughes) future in the balance. Meanwhile, Cynthia’s (Julie Walters) Royal Simla Club plays host to an important royal guest, the Maharaja Maritpur (Art Malik) and his elegant and mysterious mistress Sirene (Rachel Griffiths). Blake Ritson arrives as Ralph's sister Alice's (Jemima West) banker husband. Meanwhile, Ralph now has a daughter with gorgeous Madeleine (Olivia Grant) and has brought his secret Indian son under their roof as his house-boy unbeknownst to her.

One of our favourite of the new historical dramas that TV has given us this year INDIAN SUMMERS has been given the second season trailer today by British Channel 4! It has only just finished airing its first season in USA at PBS, but the first ten episodes were aired in Europe earlier this spring and the second run is ready to heat the small screens sometime this February (if the rumours are true). The series, set in the final years of British invasion of India, depicts the ruthless machinations and political intrigues of the evil British invaders frantically trying to hold onto power. With the cast enriched by Blake Ritson, James Fleet, Art Malik as a Maharaja and Rachel Griffiths, the second season should reveal us whether India is getting a new viceroy!

JOIN THE ROYAL SIMLA CLUB  
Set in the INDIAN SUMMER of 1935 three years after the end of the previous series, ten new episodes will again circle around Royal Simla Club, owned by scheming and snobbish Cynthia (Julie Walters), which gives entertainment to the members of the high colonial society including the viceroy's ambitious private secretary played by Henry Lloyd Hughes, his sister played by Jemima West and her Indian lover played by Nikesh Patel, and his gorgeous new wife played by Olivia Grant.

'INDIAN SUMMERS' 2ND SEASON 

GETS BLAKE RITSON, RACHEL GRIFFITHS AND ART MALIK

If you liked  the first season of Channel 4's magnificent historical saga INDIAN SUMMERS which recently finished airing in UK and will air in USA at PBS and Australia this summer, you will be happy to hear that acting legends Rachel Griffiths and Art Malik have joined the cast along with DA VINCI'S DEMONS brilliant star Blake Ritson! According to 'Digital Spy' they will join Julie Walters and Henry Lloyd Hughes on the Channel 4 show, which is set in 1932 Colonial India. Art Malik will take on the role of the Maharaja Maritpur, while Rachel Griffiths will play his Australian mistress Sirene.

CHARLENE MCKENNA JOINS 

'THE CLAN OF THE CAVE BEAR' PREHISTORIC TV SERIES
Yet another epic series we're awaiting is Ron Howard's THE CLAN OF THE CAVE BEAR over at Lifetime which has just added A.D.'s Charlene McKenna to the cast! Based on Jean M. Auel's book it takes place at a time in prehistory more than 25,000 years ago when Neanderthals shared the planet with the first early modern humans and a band of cave dwellers adopts blond and blue-eyed Ayla (Millie Brady), a child of the “Others.” As Ayla matures into a young woman of spirit and courage, she must fight for survival against the jealous bigotry of Broud (Johnny Ward), who one day will be clan leader. McKenna will play Iza, clan leader Brun’s (Hal Ozsan) sister and the Clan’s medicine woman.

'AIRLOCK' ONLINE SF SHOW

Bunch of TV updates for you today, starting with CBS's new summer sf series ZOO which, according to 'Deadline', has just added HOUSE OF CARD's Kristen Connolly and REVOLUTION's Billy Burke to the cast lead by CRAZY PEOPLE's James Wolk! Based on the bestselling novel of the same name by James Patterson, ZOO is a global thriller about a wave of violent animal attacks against humans across the planet. As the assaults become more cunning, coordinated and ferocious, a young renegade biologist, Jackson Oz (James Wolk), is thrust into the race to unlock the pandemic’s mystery before there’s no place left for people to hide. Kristen Connolly plays Jamie, a passionate young journalist intent on uncovering the story behind the mysterious animal behaviour she’s been tracking. Billy Burke plays Mitch, a straight shooting large animal veterinarian who prefers the simple company of animals to navigating the complexities of humans.

JOINS 'THE WALKING DEAD'
In other television news, new addition to the cast of mega popular zombie apocalypse series THE WALKING DEAD is Ross Marquand who will join the survivors in the upcoming second part of the fifth season which returns in February. Current speculations are that he will play gay character Aaron who meets up with Rick and his group on their way to Washington and convinces them to join the walled-off Alexandria Safe-Zone.

British Channel 4 has released visually incredibly stunning first trailer for their new ten episode historical series INDIAN SUMMERS!  Set against the sweeping grandeur of the Himalayas and tea plantations of Northern India in the 1930's, the drama tells the rich and explosive story of the decline of the British Empire and the birth of modern India, from both sides of the experience. But at the heart of the story lie the implications and ramifications of the tangled web of passions, rivalries and clashes that define the lives of those brought together in this summer which will change everything!
