Beside the cancellation and renewal TV news today (the happiest one is that ABC has ordered Tim Allen's LAST MAN STANDING for a sixth season, while over in UK the sad news is that JERICHO, HOME FIRES and INDIAN SUMMERS epic dramas have been officially killed of, and in USA NASHVILLE, AGENT CARTER, GALAVANT, THE MUPPETS, CASTLE at ABC, GRINDER, GRANDFATHERED at Fox, CONTAINMENT at CW have all been cancelled and CW is also taking over SUPERGIRL from CBS), ABC has also revealed the first teasers for series that they've ordered for whole seasons:

'TIME AFTER TIME'

It follows famed science fiction writer H.G. Wells (Freddie Stroma) who gets transported to modern day Manhattan in pursuit of Jack the Ripper (Josh Bowman). Once H.G. arrives in New York City, he finds a world he never thought possible and a young woman who captivates him!

'STILL STAR CROSSED'

 In which Romeo and Juliet are dead but we continue to follow the war between the Capulets and the Montagues! It is charting the treachery, palace intrigue and ill-fated romances of the Montagues and Capulets in the wake of the young lovers’ tragic fate. Wade Briggs, Torrance Coombs, Grant Bowler star. 

JENNA ELFMAN'S 'IMAGINARY MARY'
 It centres on Alice (Jenna Elfman), a fiercely independent career woman whose life is turned upside-down when she meets the love of her life – a divorced father with three kids. This triggers even more upheaval when the slightly unhinged imaginary friend she created as a child suddenly reappears to help her navigate the transition from single girl to a woman ready for a family.

 In latest news we hear that sadly NBC has cancelled their best sitcom ever UNDATEABLE after three magnificent seasons. They've also cancelled Eva Longoria's TELENOVELA.

Your favourite new Sunday knight will soon become GALAVANT - that is the name of the main star of upcoming new historical musical comedy series which starts airing at ABC January 4th! Its four hilarious episodes will air on Sunday evenings catching the perfect timing while regular shows are on the New Year's break!

SINGING HERO
 Producer Dan Fogelman (Tangled, Cars) teams up with award winning musical team - composer Alan Menken (The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast) and lyricist Glenn Slater (Tangled) - for a 4 week comedy extravaganza. Once upon a time, the dashing hero, GALAVANT  (Joshua Sasse) lost the love of his life, Madalena (Mallory Jansen), to the evil King Richard (Timothy Omundson). Now, our fallen hero is ready to take revenge and restore his “happily ever after.” But it won’t be without a few twists and turns along the way. John Stamos, Ricky Gervais, Rutger Hauer, Hugh Bonneville will guest star!

THE GALLANT KNIGHT

Charming and handsome, Galavant (Jossua Sasse) is a gallant knight and hero so beloved he is known by just one name. When he goes to save the love of his life, Madalena, after she was kidnapped by the evil King Richard, she rejects GALAVANT when he proclaims all he has to offer her is his love. Since then, he has gone broke, stopped bathing and has gained weight - most likely due to his penchant for libations.

THE EVIL KING
King Richard (Timothy Omundson) is the evil king who kidnapped Madalena. He has a strong hatred and great disdain for GALAVANT, especially since his wife Madalena cannot stop talking about him. He sends Isabella to lure GALAVANT to him, with plans to kill the beloved hero. Notorious for his evil ways, King Richard indulges in such hobbies as raising taxes and tormenting the poor. The evil king isn’t as tough as one may think, though - one insult from Madalena and he bursts into tears.

THE FLIMSY QUEEN

A lady with long legs and glowing skin, Madalena (Mallory Jansen) is the love of Galavant’s life who gets kidnapped by King Richard. When GALAVANT comes to save her, she chooses the life of fame and fortune over him and marries King Richard instead. Rigid and demanding, she shows her true colours after becoming queen. She is also a bit of a nymphomaniac.

THE HANDY HENCH MAN
Rough and tough, Gareth (played by action star Vinnie Jones) is King Richard’s right-hand henchman who does the king’s fighting for him. He is King Richard’s brawn and often has to instruct the king on how to be more manly in his ways.

THE SPUNKY PRINCESS

Isabella (Karen David), (full name: Princess Isabella Lucia Maria Elizabetta of Valencia) is the spunky Princess of Valencia who seeks out and engages the once gallant GALAVANT in order to save her people from King Richard. She is sent by the king to lure GALAVANT to him, as King Richard plans to kill Galavant in front of his former flame, Madalena. She is a great actress, as her kingdom is known for theater... and also, cabbage.

TRUSTY SQUIRE
Sid (Luke Youngblood) is Galavant’s trusty squire who assists the fallen hero. He keeps Galavant’s life in order, especially after Madalena rejected GALAVANT, who hasn’t been himself since then. Sid is adopted; when he was a baby, an older couple found him on their doorstep and took him in.

'CATHERINE THE GREAT'

LAVISH HISTORICAL TV SERIES

You know, Scandinavians have VIKINGS, Italians have BORGIAS, Brits have TUDORS, so why wouldn't dear mother Russia have her own epic show depicting a part of their glorious and heroic history! Russian Channel One is preparing a lavishly epic historical series CATHERINE THE GREAT with Yulia Snigir playing the legendary Russian tzarina! The first season of 12 episodes, to arrive to the small screens in December, will capture the period from 1744 to 1762. She arrived from Germany to Russia as a German princess who will become the wife of Peter Fedorovich, the successor of the Russian throne. After being taught how to rule by Russian empress Elizabeth, 17 years later during the 1762 palace  revolution Catherine's husband was dethroned and she ascended to the throne as the new Empress of Russia. From arriving to the foreign country as a young girl to becoming the ruler of world's biggest empire, decades of her life were filled with treacherous games of high society, conspiracies, intrigues, betrayals and infidelities! Russian moviemaker Igor Zaytsev is helming the series which was done in the luxurious style seen in TUDORS and ROME. The second and the third season are expected to cover the years of her rule after the revolution! 

SIX THOUSAND COSTUMES
As you can see from the pictures, the costumes in CATHERINE THE GREAT will be extremely lavish. More than one hundred gowns will be worn by Yulia Snigir in the show and none of the dresses is lighter than 20 pounds! Most of the gowns have been taken from the archives, while the coronation and wedding dress are exact replicas of the real historical ones! Some of the massive scenes include thousands of male and female costumes and five thousand military vestments!

'THE LAST PANTHERS' TV SHOW

SAMANTHA MORTON, JOHN HURT & TAHAR RAHIM IN HEIST SERIES
In other TV news, UK's Sky Atlantic has chosen Oscar nominees Samantha Morton and John Hurt, and Tahar Rahim to star in their new series THE LAST PANTHERS! Based on the true story of legendary Serbian bank robbers Pink Panthers who stole over $136 million worth jewellery, the six part series will open with a daring diamond heist before quickly delving into the heart of Europe where a shadowy alliance of gangsters and ‘banksters’ now rules. Morton will play a British loss adjuster charged with recovering the stolen diamonds whatever the cost, with Hurt as her nefarious boss. Rahim will chase the thieves as a French Algerian policeman! The show will be shot in UK, Serbia and France in their three languages.
RUTGER HAUER JOINS 'GALAVANT'
Meanwhile, ABC has cast Rutger Hauer in their musical historical comedy show GALAVANT in which Joshua Sasse plays a knight taking on the evil King Richard (Timothy Omundson) who stole the woman he loved. Hauer will play Kingsley, King Richard’s older, bigger and more badass brother who will threaten his little brother’s rule — and since he is a man so destined to be a great king that his parents named him Kingsley. GALAVANT's hilarious guest star cast also includes John Stamos as a dashing knight, Hugh Bonneville as landlocked pirate Peter the Pillager, Ricky Gervais as a medieval magician  Xanax, and Weird Al Yankovic as a singing monk.

'ZIGGY' MUSICAL FILM

Do you like movie musicals? One of those will come to us from Baz Luhrmann's protege Diesel Schwarze. Titled ZIGGY it will star Dane DeHaan and Rooney Mara and it will have original contemporary music with the story which centres on a hunchback escape artist (Dane DeHaan) who arrives in New York during the mass culture boom of the late 1920s. As he falls in love with the fiancé (Rooney Mara) of a powerful media mogul, the story charts ZIGGY’s rise to fame and subsequent fall amid a romantic world crashing down on its own impossible idealism.

TELEVISION HEADLINES 

RUPERT EVANS IN 'THE MAN IN THE HIGH CASTLE' SF SERIES
In TV news, British star Rupert Evans is the latest one to join THE MAN IN THE HIGH CASTLE sf show at Amazon. In the alternative reality show in which USA is ruled by Nazi Germany and Japan, he will play an artist and an intellectual with a secret.
THE WALK UP SITCOM
NBC has bought THE WALK-UP comedy series about two 30 something couples — one with a baby on the way — who decide to buy and live in a Brooklyn brownstone together, creating their own version of the modern urban family.
RICKY JERVAIS IN 'GALAVANT'
Over at ABC, British star Ricky Gervais will play a wizard named Xanax in their historical musical comedy series GALAVANT which will see Joshua Sasse playing a knight who returns to his kingdom to take revenge on the monarch who stole his true love. John Stamos and Hugh Bonneville will also guest star.
